Breakfast delivery

After a night of wine and girl talk with Sharon, Linda was ready to take on the world again with a White Dolce and Gabbana Suit, she looked as radiant and flawless as ever, you'd swear she wasn't the same girl who was crying in her car the previous night. Despite the promise she made to Jeremy, she couldn't stomach being in his place for now, it was just too soon, and she wasn't ready for the flashbacks. Especially the hurt she saw in his eyes because of Maggie, 'How can he break like that because of another woman?', she sighed in frustration. She took Sharon's advice to heart: to look at Jeremy for what he was, a contractual husband then she would hurt less. She couldn't believe she let herself be fooled into believing they could be more, besides, what did she expect, Jeremy was a handsome man, of course, he had relationship priors and his heart did belong to another.

She waltzed to the office tall with her head held high, full of energy and charisma, since Freddy wasn't around, it meant she had to get her own coffee, but as for messages, Jackson was a man of many talents. She flew passed Freddy's desk and sighed, 'I miss him already'. Although Jackson was a man of many talents, he didn't quite possess Freddy's humor and so the office would be silent today. She flew open her office door and her heart almost stopped at the sight of Jeremy sitting on her couch with a brown doggy bag and coffee on the table.

The first thing he said was, "I knew you weren't going to come, and I don't blame you", with a grim expression,

Linda quickly adjusted herself, took a breath, and confidently marched to her desk, "What are you doing here? How did you get in? And why do you have sunglasses on?"

Jeremy made his way to her desk with the bag in hand, "This is to apologize, I hope you enjoy it. I also brought you coffee, but I see you might not need mine." He then took off his sunglasses to reveal an unexpected sight, his eyes were red and puffy, "I asked the security to let me in, perks of being your fiancé", he said with an awkward smile.

Linda was still horrified by his face, on impulse, she worriedly got up to caress it, "You didn't sleep? Were you crying? Or did perhaps your guest keep you up all ni-"

Before she could finish, she found herself in his embrace, and he whispered, "Don't ever think something like that. As your fiancé, I'm only loyal to you and no other woman is above you."

She felt her heart melt in his arms, suddenly everything Sharon said didn't matter, she belonged in those arms. She wanted him to say those words again, that she was the only one. She wrapped her arms around his waist and sniffled," I am sorry I couldn't come over for breakfast. It was just too hard for-"

Jeremy pulled back to look at her with eyes full of assurance, "I know. I know, I also realized that I may have been insensitive to ask you that. I lov-", his uncle's words suddenly chocked him, he couldn't finish his sentence, how could he love her when danger was hanging around him? So, instead, he buried himself in her arms and dreamt of the day when he could finally proudly declare his love for her. For now, being in her arms was the only thing he could do, the only thing he needed to do at that second, knowing Linda's personality, he didn't think he'd ever be able to do it, but there here was. Perhaps it was because she needed the marriage to work and that's why she could easily forgive him, but even if that was the reason, she could've easily chased him out of his office.

"Aren't you going to eat with me?", her words echoed stopping his train of thought.

"I wasn't sure if you would let me stay and so I only made one.", he said still muffled in her shoulders.

Linda gently pulled away to reach for the bag on the table, with a soft chuckle, she raised the bag, "We could share!", he found her innocent expression amusing. Her smile instantly melted his worries away, and she carried on to swap the coffees on the table, "And you already brought coffee. I will have the one you brought and you will have mine", he couldn't help but giggle at his fiancé's cuteness.

With his body finally relaxed and all his emotions stable, his mind finally gave in and was suddenly overwhelmed with exhaustion, so he took a nap on the couch they were seated on and she covered him with a blanket. She couldn't resist his sleeping face so she silently squatted to trace her fingers around his hairline, a smile crept on her face, and she softly whispered, "You came all this way to give me breakfast...now, how am I supposed to keep it professional when you do things like that. How am I supposed to not love you?". However, those soft words were shortly followed by a deep emotional heavy sigh and she thought, 'Besides, our love is doomed.', a tear rolled down her cheek as she got up to her desk. Unbeknownst to her, Jeremy was listening and the moment she left his side, he slightly opened his eyes in disbelief at what he just heard, 'She loves me-', but was soon whisked away by his sleep.

He woke up his mind still buzzing with what she said, he needed to see her, 'Did she really say she loved me?', he wondered as he frantically looked for her around the office, he needed to see her but Linda was nowhere to be found. Partially disappointed for not finding her, he left a note inviting her to dinner, then quietly exited the building, besides, he also had a business to run.

Since he saw her smile and managed to have breakfast with her, his mood improved tremendously, but it didn't last long because he found John waiting at the restaurant, "Well, well well... You sure aren't easy to get ahold of", John said with a deep voice sucking whatever joy Jeremy had inside.

'Oh crap!' Jeremy thought upon remembering the tons of texts that went unanswered.

He stretched his face to form a smile, and with a soft voice, he pleaded, "Mr. King, I'm sorry things have been hectic. With the upcoming gala and my aunt suddenly showing up- I assure you I wasn't ignoring you on purpose.". John skeptically nodded in agreement, in fact, he didn't believe him for a second.

Jeremy nodded something to his waitress, and then turned to John, "In apology, please order anything you want, on the house. Suzy here will be at your service."

"Anything on the house? Are you sure your boss will be happy to hear that? I wouldn't want anything to happen to your monthly pay-", he said condescendingly and Suzy rolled her eyes at the amount of disrespect carried by those words.

To Jeremy, Suzy wasn't just an ordinary waitress, she was more like her younger sister, in fact, they treated each other like siblings. Jeremy helped her a lot with her culinary school application and also provided her with a space to practice.

So hearing such disrespect directed towards someone she considered a savior only offended her. Ignoring Jeremy's warnings, she snapped as politely as she could, "With all due respect sir, brother Jeremy is the owner of this place, she pays everyone's salary, so I don't think a single breakfast will suddenly cripple his 'pay'. Now, may I please take your order?"
