Chapter 48: Raijin No Ken

The events at the Hyuga household did not affect Colt in any way.

At least, as can be seen from yesterday's conversation, Hiashi had no outright objections to the relationship between Colt and Hinata. At most, he had a dislike for someone trying to take his daughter from him…

However, the reason he was trying to act though, was only because he was concerned about the rest of the Hyuga clan. They would of course not agree.

Colt had always been puzzled by the branch house system of the Hyuga family.

Hizashi became the branch house member as the younger brother of the patriarch, while some elders were part of the main house. How was this division determined? Shouldn't the brother of the leader be higher in power than some elders?

However, since Colt felt that Hisashi did not object to their relationship, the opinions of the rest did not matter much to him.

The next day, Colt still had no assigned missions.

After spending time with Hinata yesterday, he was with Ino today, following the same routine.

Colt received another first kiss from the young girl.

This guy was truly a scumbag.

When old man Kosuke saw Colt again, he had a sly smile on his face. "You're looking happy today, it seems the affairs with the Hyuga family didn't bother you much."

Colt was taken aback for a moment, not expecting Kosuke to know about this.

But soon, he realized it was probably something the Third Hokage had mentioned.

In the Konoha Village, nothing could be hidden from the Third Hokage's knowledge, except for Danzo's schemes obviously.

"It's just a bunch of stubborn old men, Kosuke-senpai. Now, let's not bother about that, and go take a mission," Colt said, not willing to dwell on the topic any further as he headed towards the Hokage building, with Kosuke following.

Originally, Colt planned to take a mission to clear out nearby bandits. However, halfway through, he was summoned by an Anbu to the Hokage's office. Kosuke followed naturally.

The Third Hokage smiled upon seeing the two.

"Colt, Kosuke, you're finally here. There is one task here that is very suitable for you."

He didn't mention the trivial Hyuga family matter, which was insignificant in his eyes.

Colt however was curious about the task that required the Hokage to assign it directly.

Soon, he received the mission details.

Three years ago, a special Jōnin named Aoi Rokusho had bewitched his disciple, Idate Morino, and stole the book of seals and the sword Raijin No Ken.

Despite the valiant efforts of Ibiki Morino who was the older brother of Idate, only the sealed book was retrieved with difficulty, while Aoi Rokusho escaped with Raijin No Ken.

Three years later, Aoi not only was living well, but he also became a Jōnin of the Rain Shinobi Village.

This time, the Third Hokage had received information that Aoi would be traveling to the Land of Grass to assassinate a noble.

For Konoha, betrayal was unacceptable, but when it involved stealing important information or treasures, the nature of the offense was different and required further actions.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Colt could not only hone his skills but also recapture the Raijin No Ken sword, which moved the Third Hokage.

"Do you have any questions?" the Third Hokage asked, looking at the silent duo.

"I have one," Colt raised his hand. "As far as I know, the Second Hokage was skilled in Water Style and various Forbidden Techniques. Why is his sword lightning based?"

The Third Hokage was stunned, not expecting Colt's question to come from such a strange angle, but after thinking about it for a bit he still explained the reason.

"Actually, this is a wonderful misunderstanding. The Raijin No Ken is indeed the work of the Second Hokage. As a master of Forbidden Techniques, his research on ninja tools was equally advanced. The Raijin No Ken is one of his creations. The owner of this sword can directly convert their chakra into the lightning attribute, and its power is amazing. From then on, he used it in fighting."

"However, because the materials used are precious, almost all of them are made of chakra-conductive metal. The Second Hokage stopped experimenting after creating one."

After listening, Colt fell into silence.

However, now the Raijin No Ken is no longer a simple treasure but a symbol of Konoha. That's why the Third Hokage took it seriously.

After learning the details, Colt and the others prepared to leave. Before their departure, the Third Hokage set the task level to A-rank and offered a generous reward. Furthermore, as long as the Raijin No Ken was retrieved, the sword would belong to Colt.

To be honest, Colt didn't particularly like this sword.

In the original story, the Raijin No Ken was shattered by Sasuke's Chidori and Naruto's Rasengan. Although there were the reasons of Aoi being weak and not knowing how to use it, the sword's quality was also not impressive.

However, Colt had a keen interest in chakra-conductive metals.

After obtaining Sukunahikona and Ten No Shiso, he understood that these two dōjutsu techniques must be used in conjunction with ninja tools to have the greatest effect. He had a vague idea in mind, but he needed a large-scale source of chakra metal.

"We are the ninjas of Konohagakure. We came here to protect you when we received news that someone was going to assassinate your master," Kosuke stepped forward to answer, seeing that Colt didn't intend to speak.

Actually, Colt didn't like these feudal nobles.

He found the strange system of the Hokage world incomprehensible. Ninjas were a group of powerful people, yet they obeyed a group of nobles and wealthy individuals. There were some thoughts in his mind, but Colt was a slacker after all. As long as they didn't provoke him, he wouldn't take the initiative to trouble those nobles.
