Jiang Yexun changed his clothes and went downstairs, where he ran into Aunt Guo, who had rushed out of the kitchen upon hearing the noise.
"Mom," Jiang Yexun greeted her.
Aunt Guo merely glanced at him briefly before looking behind him. After waiting a moment without seeing her daughter-in-law, she immediately gave Jiang Yexun a disapproving look. "Where's Xiaoxiao? It's not a big deal if a man like you skips a meal, but Xiaoxiao is a young woman. She shouldn't go hungry."
"Xiaoxiao's sleeping a bit longer. I'll be back soon, so keep the soup simmering. I'll bring it up for her when I return," Jiang Yexun replied, his wheat-colored face flushing slightly. Aunt Guo, being older and experienced, could clearly understand what was going on. Her gaze became even more disdainful as she looked at him.
"Be careful! You're a big, strong man. Don't go hurting my delicate daughter-in-law," she admonished with a hint of annoyance.
