In the sleek laboratory aglow with holographic displays, stood an aged scientist in a pristine, flowing white lab coat adorned with faint traces of countless experiments.
His silvery hair was meticulously combed, and his aged face was riddled with wrinkles which made him look older than his age. Augmented reality glasses perch upon a distinguished nose, casting a soft luminescence upon his eyes.
"Place him on the table."
Luke finally heard the voice of another person. Also, the odd silence between the soldiers throughout their journey here had left him uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, the soldiers turned their attention to the metal table located at the centre of the room. The table was equipped with a series of embedded sensors, monitoring vital signs in real-time, while a web of nanofiber threads extends from its surface, connecting to a network of advanced gene-altering equipment.
Luke felt the soldiers pull him off the ground, holding him by his legs and hands as they moved to the table. They dropped him on the cold metallic table and instantly the adjustable metal restraints clamped down on his limbs, keeping him in place.
"Don't forget to take off the helmet." The scientist, seemingly busy with his preparations, spoke up again. " I want to have a clear view of the changes."
The soldiers did as they were ordered and as soon as the helmet was taken off, Luke was assaulted by the bright lights littered across the room, all focused on the metal table.
He shut his eyes in pain and waited a few seconds for his eyes to adjust to the light. Luke tried to use his hand to block the light, but it was bound to the metal table
Shocked, he tried to move his legs, but they were also bound to the table, making it impossible for him to move. Opening his eyes, Luke was greeted with a stunning sight.
Surrounding the metal table were a series of sleek consoles. These stations were equipped with holographic interfaces displaying intricate strands of DNA and complex gene sequences.
Integrated into the room's architecture were biometric scanners that continuously monitor the test subject's physiological responses. These scanners feed data to a central console, where scientists analyze the intricate details of the subject's genetic composition.
What caught his attention was located left of his position. It was a large screen and on the left side of the screen was the image of a demon. It had coal-black fur, luminescent markings, and an imposing stature that drew similarities to a werewolf, but with a pair of twisted horns.
"Maligroth is a high-level demon that possesses a unique ability to heal injuries and regenerate missing body parts at an astonishing rate. Wounds inflicted upon its body seem to close and mend spontaneously, and even severed limbs can slowly reform over time." The scientist wasn't sure that Luke understood what he was saying, but he didn't seem to care as he typed away on his keyboard.
Beside the image of this demon was a dark red DNA string while on the right end of the screen was an angel, she had long golden hair with spread-out hands. On her back were two pairs of angelic wings, and beside her image was a golden DNA string.
At the centre was a light blue DNA string, but he wasn't given the time to study it, since he noticed some movements. It was the old scientist who wore an amused grin on his face as he clicked a button.
Instinctively, Luke's gaze returned to the screen, and he was shocked to see the DNA streams of both the angel and demon disassembling before gathering at the blue DNA string, causing it to disassemble and fuse with the dark red and golden DNA string.
As soon as the fusion on the screen was done, Luke felt movement under the metal table as if a hidden compartment was opening. From there, mechanical limbs wielding metallic syringes that had slits for tubular vial inspection, allowing Luke to see the contents.
In these metallic syringes was a dark liquid with a strange golden radiance. Fear gripped Luke as he began struggling against the restraints fiercely. With fear written all over his face, Luke shot a glance at the scientist with pleading eyes.
At that moment, the metallic syringes stabbed into different parts of his body, releasing all the contents into his bloodstream. Only then did the scientist move, walking closer to Luke with a look of interest in his eyes. He watched as Luke's veins began bulging, but his veins were black and golden.
From the various points where Luke was injected, the scientists noticed the golden radiance spreading across his body as the liquid flowed across his body.
At first, Luke felt warm when the liquid was injected into him, but the temperature kept rising dramatically with each passing second. Barely half a minute, Luke felt extremely hot with stinging pains assaulting his body.
"Gaah!" Luke finally let out a cry of pain as his body jerked up, but his limbs were being held down by the restraints.
His eyes turned bloodshot and for a moment blood began flowing out of all holes including, his eyes, nostrils, and ear.
Luke let out ear-piercing as his mind was being consumed by the agonizing pain, but the scientist didn't seem to care, he was more interested in the physical changes taking place in Luke.
Luke shivered, his body twitching with pain. Clenching his fists, Luke cried out in pain as he jerked from side to side, struggling to break free despite his limbs being filled with cuts and bruises.
Luke's eyes began to change once again, while his black and golden veins began pulsating like a beating heart. The Sclera of his eyes started turning black, while his pupil and iris turned red. At the same time, his brown hair began losing its colour, turning white.
"Aaargh!" Luke screamed in pain as he felt like the bulging veins were trying to tear out of his skin.
When the fluid reached his heart he felt like something was gripping his heart, trying to crush it. Luke felt like his heart was about to rip out his chest.
"It's working! It's working!" the scientist laughed crazily as his eyes constantly switched from the test subject to the consoles.
However, his excitement was short-lived.
Suddenly, the readings on the monitor began fluctuating, Luke's heartbeat rate lowering at an alarming rate while warning messages kept ringing like bells on the numerous screens installed across the room.
"NO! NO! NO!" the scientist panicked as he ran to one of the drawers at the other end of the room hoping to get something, but it was too late.
Luke flat-line, all the warning sounds died down, bringing back absolute silence. His elevated chest struggling against the restraints fell back, his body unmoving.
He had succumbed to the pain.
Luke was dead!
