'Finally a mission? Where is the mysterious castle ?' Sam had lived in the village since he was born but he'd never heard of such a thing like the mysterious castle.

'Maybe I can look in the village library?' The village might be slightly small but there is still a little collection of old books that were handed down over the years.

Thirty minutes later he was sitting on his ragged little bed, thinking about what had happened.

He's only been in this world for one day and has gone from an ordinary person to a Rank 2 warrior and Rank 1 magician. If this speed was known to the world it would shock them, even the top geniuses take at least a month between awakening and ranking up. Let alone that Sam is currently only 8 years old.

Sams exp has already accumulated to 100/1000 after ten hours of adventuring. His spiritual body in the system space is still cultivating.

Sam decided to finally go to sleep, he has been running around since he crossed and hasn't gotten any rest for hours. First he released the steward and bodyguard and all his subordinates above Rank 1 to keep him safe in the night.

The magician cast a small wind spell around the house, it didn't provide much defense but rather worked as an alarm. As soon as someone touched it the magician would be alerted and could tell the steward.

The next day, Sam was woken up by a knocking at the door. He stretched out and opened the door. Outside the door Daniel was jumping up and down looking nervous.

''What's wrong?'' Sam asked with an intrigued look.

''Sam! The mayor is calling everyone to the square. Apparently the elite guards are picking certain people to accompany them!''

''Really?'' Sam questioned

''Yes ! So hurry up we might get a chance to get chosen and receive some benefits'' Daniel finished that and once again ran off.

Rather than rushing to follow. Sam stopped and thought about what it could be that they need a bunch of children and weak villagers but after thinking for a couple of minutes he couldn't find anything weird.

He decided to head to the city square.

When he arrived there, Nick sat in the middle on a makeshift throne, below him stood a row of rank 3-4 guards and to his right the rank 5 elite stood and watched.

Lined up in front of them there were around 30 children between the ages of 8-13.

According to what Sam overheard when he just arrived Nick is willing to take the children out for experience as repayment for the banquet held the day before. Nick said that it will increase the chances of the children awakening if they experience rank warriors fights at a young age.

Sam sneered when he heard the reason, there's definitely more to it but he just can't figure it out at this moment.

Just as Sam was preparing to walk away he heard a rough voice,

''Hey kid, come along. It's a good opportunity for you to learn about the life of a warrior.''

Sam turned and saw a warrior wearing silver armor walking towards him, he had a long scar across his face. Strapped to his back there was a long silver shaded sword, it was only a Rank 1 weapon, however Sam was already thinking of a way to take it.

''You listening kid?'' The soldier said when he saw Sam looking at him without talking.

Sam didn't reply, just nodded and walked in like with the rest. He has the steward and bodyguard to protect him so he's not worried about safety when facing the elites.

The soldier saw that he didn't talk and looked at him in disdain, 'it's your honor to accompany us, who do you think you are' the soldier murmured, but didn't say it out loud.

However Sam still heard him with his boosted senses from being a rank 2 warrior but just slowly shook his head and sneered mockingly.

It wasn't a long wait until the group were finally ready to set off, by the end there were 50 children between the ages 8-13 lined up. It was the entire younger generation for a small village of no more than 1000 people.

''Alright let's move!'' Nick shouted, not paying attention to the kids lined up.

Everyone started walking in an orderly manner, the nervous children kept looking at the stern faces of the soldiers around.

Sam however just looked camly forward, silently communicating with the Bodyguard who was tracking the convoy.

Occasionally a Rank 1 or 2 beast would attack the convoy but the surrounding silver guards would quickly take care of it.

Sam watched on, slightly upset about the points he was missing, but there was no chance to take the kills without killing all of the soldiers first.

Sam wasn't worried about the soldiers strength, he was worried that killing so many soldiers would attract the attention of enemies he couldn't face at this moment. After all Nick Watts' family apparently have rank 15 sitting down.

They continued to walk for almost an hour, the children started to complain under their breath but they only dared to intently watch the ranked battles. Of course the 13 year olds were the most excited about watching the fights. They still believed what Nick had said about having a higher chance of awakening.

While they were watching Sam commanded the Bodyguard to run in front of the convoy and hunt all the animals in the way, he didn't want to waste anymore time on walking.

By the time the convoy stopped and started camping it was close to an hour later.

If they continued walking they would enter the misty hills, which is the most mysterious part of the wilted forest. According to the limited knowledge of the predecessors the mist has been there since the empires were founded.
