Lia~

Make it stop

Beep

Beep

Ugh, what is that?

Beep

Beep

I groan and try to shut off the annoying alarm but the moment I move my hands I feel a seething pain shooting through me. I wince and use my magic to shut it off. I open my eyes and look around the familiar setting. I'm in my room, somehow. My eyes scan over the purple and white walls, the black desk, and the fluffy white rug. That's when I notice that half the one wall is missing and scorched like it was set on fire, the windows are shattered and the roof has been ripped apart. The memories come flooding back. Me losing control over my magic, the destruction I caused, and him, Lucas. Where the heck did he even come from? More importantly, how did he get past the barrier? "He's our mate you idiot, so the barrier didn't keep him out." I hear Raeya huff inside my head, probably mad at me for exhausting my magic like that. I look down at my arms and wince at the sight. Dark black and purple bruises litter my arms. "Raeya, why haven't I healed yet?" I'm not sure how long I was out for but something tells me it's been long enough. "you exhausted your magic so much that it's taking your body a while to heal, had you been a normal witch there'd be nothing left of you but a pile of ash" I hear the door, or rather what's left of it, open and in walks a worried-looking Lucas carrying a bowl of hot water and a cloth, probably to clean my bruises. I clear my throat and he yelps, almost dropping the bowl. I chuckle softly and look at him. He recovers from the shock and in a split second he's by my side hugging me, careful of my wounds.

"Oh my god, Lia, what the fuck happened? I was so worried, are you okay? What was that? Are you hurt? Do you need anything, another pillow maybe? Do you-" I press my finger against his lips and silence him, giggling slightly. It doesn't hurt to move as much and having my mate so close helps with the pain.

My mate.

I can't believe it! Lucas Maxwell is my mate. I can't believe the moon goddess chose for us to spend eternity together. I start smiling when the realization hits me and I instantly frown, looking away. I can't have a mate, I'm supposed to be with Henry for this stupid alliance. I fell Luc's fingers brush my chin, turning my face to look at him. He smiles sweetly although his eyes are still terrified. Who knows how much he saw. That reminds me, "How long was I out?" I ask softly but wince slightly at the still lingering pain. Luc hands me a glass of water and I smile at him gratefully.

He looks at his watch and thinks for a second. "I'd say just a couple of hours. I wanted to take you to a hospital but something told me that wouldn't be the best idea all things considered." He scratches the back of his neck and a nervous smile starts forming on his face.

I give him a reassuring smile, "Go ahead ask away." I knew there'd be a lot of questions and I knew I had to answer them all. Lucas is my mate and has a right to know everything, well at least as much as I'm allowed to tell him.

He takes a deep breath, probably collecting his thoughts." Okay firstly, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO YOUR HOUSE?"

LUCAS~

Amelia looks at me sheepishly. No one really calls her Amelia anymore, she's our Lia, my Lia.

Okay, where did that thought just come from?

I mentally shake those thoughts away and refocus on this beautiful, fragile girl I found in the midst of destruction. I look down at her bruised skin I still can't believe what happened today and if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes I wouldn't even doubt if it were a lie. This tiny, fragile, innocent beauty apparently has magical powers like Whodini but instead of a disappearing act, she destroyed her entire freaking house. I look at her expectantly and I could tell this is going to be a long story.

Lia~

"Tell mate what we are!" Raeya is giving me a headache with her constant whining but as much as it irritated me, I couldn't give in to her. I've known Lucas for a very long time but that doesn't mean that I know that I can trust him with an apocalyptic secret. That's not even me being dramatic either.

Centuries ago there was a tribrid, also female, named Allura. She was beautiful and strong and was supposed to bring peace and harmony to the supernatural realm but she fell in love with someone who wasn't her mate, a warlock, and leader of the covens. When she found her mate, a powerful alpha, she refused to be with him and it started a war between the species. Turns out the warlock had enchanted her with dark magic to sever the mate bond and make her fall for him. He wanted to use her to make sure that witches and warlocks reigned supreme. The vampires found out about her and tried to take her for themselves, resulting in an even bigger war between the three most dominant supernatural species on the planet. The war went on for almost two hundred years and only ended when the tribrid took her own life.

So my secret is the definition of apocalyptic. I look at Lucas and wonder how exactly I'm supposed to explain the state of the house when an idea pops into my head. I'll just tell him I'm a witch. I wouldn't exactly be lying but I'd be able to test whether or not I can trust him. Raeya huffs once again "Just tell mate! He wouldn't betray us, I know we can trust him!" I put up a block between us and focus on the task at hand. How exactly am I supposed to do this?

Lucas looks at me expectantly so instead of answering his question, I ask one of my own, "First tell me, how much did you see?" he shifts from one foot to the other and smiles at me before looking down. I giggle and pat my hand on the bed, inviting him to come sit next to me. He moves over to me and sits down, almost hesitantly, and the moment his skin touches down my body relaxes completely. A golden light grabs my attention and I look down at my arms to notice that my wounds are glowing, the light surrounding them. My wounds start healing, faster than I've ever healed before and I gasp at the power the light emits. The light flashes and in an instant it's gone and looking at my arms I notice that my wounds are gone too. Even the ash on my hands has disappeared. I look at Lucas and his expression mirrors mine, complete and utter shock.

"Okay, Lia, I'm trying really hard to stay calm but your lawn is on fire, your house is destroyed and your bruises just disappeared before our eyes so please, I beg you, explain what the fuck is going on or convince me I'm dreaming, either way, works for me." I look at my mate, my sweet, loving mate, and decide to just get on with it already.

I take a deep breath and decide it's time to risk the exposure of the existence of every supernatural species on the planet all because the moon goddess paired the most dangerous creature alive with a human, "Well to state it simply, I'm a witch, a very powerful witch." I watch his face morph from confusion to disbelief and then acceptance in the span of 2 minutes.

Well, that was easy.

"You shouldn't lie to mate". I inwardly roll my eyes at her. "I'm not lying, Rae, technically I am a powerful witch, but I can't exactly tell him what we are yet, I don't know if I can trust him." I block her out before she can argue and focus back on Luc. He seems deep in thought, probably trying to figure out how someone he's known the majority of his life can be a witch. Probably trying to figure out how he never knew. "Look, I know this is a lot to take in and you may not believe me bu-"

"Oh I believe you." he interrupts and shocks me. "I mean look at the state of your house, not to mention that when I found you, you were floating in a golden ball of light, Lia, so unless I'm going insane, I'd say magic is the only other explanation." I breathe out a sigh of relief, okay, he believes me. "So, what? Next, you'll tell me that vampires exist?" he jokes but one look at my sheepish smile and avoiding gaze has him reeling back, "Vampires are real?!"

"Get comfy, Luc, this is gonna be a long story."

After telling him all he needs to know for now I sit back and let him absorb. He took it pretty well all things considered but now he's quiet, too quiet. He looks confused and, well, terrified. That reminds me, why was he even here in the first place?

Our date!

Holy shit, I forgot our date!

My mind is reeling with ways to make it up to him when he finally breaks the silence, "okay, so you're a witch, a powerful one, and vampires, werewolves, mermaids and stuff like that also exist and have been living among us for centuries. There have been countless wars between the species that humans knew nothing about and the world's economy is mostly run by powerful- um Alphas, I think you called them. Am I forgetting anything?"

I laugh softly," no you've pretty much covered everything." that's when I remember, "Oh, I forgot to tell you this though. In the supernatural community, soul mates are a big deal. Werewolves have soul mates called mates chosen by the moon goddess herself and the moment you find your mate you instantly know. You feel sparks when you touch them and their scent calms you down and you always want to be around them, stuff like that. Vampire mates are called beloveds though and it's rare for witches and other supernaturals to have mates so they just choose their own."

He nods his head in acceptance when his eyes suddenly light up, "Wait, does this mean you're my mate?" I don't miss the excitement in his eyes and the nervous smile gracing his lips.

Should I tell him? I mean, I basically just confessed to it by telling him how mates feel about each other. "TELL HIM!" my wolf roars inside my head. I wince and grip my scalp. "Fine, fine I'll tell him we're his mate."

"Are you okay, Lia?" he takes my hand in his and starts massaging my head whilst playing with my hair. Sometime between his shock and my confession he moved to sit behind me while I sat between his legs, my head resting on his chest. Sparks erupt everywhere we touch and I can feel Raeya's happiness at our position even though she's still mad about me not telling him what I am. His fingers work through my hair, loosening the scrunchies holding it in place. My head instantly stops pounding and I relax into him, feeling nothing but contentment just being with him, in this moment. I realize that even though I'm not allowed to have a mate, I will. Lucas is mine and the goddess paired us for a reason so to hell with the alliance. It's not worth the paper it's written on anyway.

I sigh but remember the question he asked me, "Yeah, I'm okay, it's just aftershocks of what happened today. To answer your question Lucas -" I look into his green eyes, seeing flecks of gold swimming in the emerald sea, "- I am your mate"
