A... tasteful book

Kai had definitely heard right, there was the sound of a woman singing coming from his bathroom.

He was a little surpise, Anastasia had gotten a maid sorted out really quickly, even though Kai didn't see her talk to anyone at all to organise it.

Still, he wasn't going to complain, that just meant that he wouldn't have to clean up the mess Umbra made last night.

... However, he was still going to apologise to the maid that had to clean the mess.

Making his way to the door of his bathroom, Kai saw the backside of a woman on her hands and knees, scrubbing the residue from the tiles on the floor.

She had dark green hair, like ivy, and Kai could see a pair of glasses resting on her ears from behind her.

Still, it was only now that Kai could properly hear what she was singing.

"Shining sun, weeping moon, why can't you see how much the trees love you? Icy veins, snowy terrain, traversing it will give you so much to gain~"

To be honest, it was a strange song. It didn't really sound like a song, it mainly sounded as if the green haired maid was singing a poem rather than a song.

However, the maid still hadn't noticed Kai's presence with how focused she was on cleaning the floor.

So Kai simply coughed and said:

"Ahem... Hello, nice to meet you?"

The maid jumped slightly, nearly whacking her head off the bathtub. Her singing stopped instantly as she scrambled to turn towards the source of the voice behind her.

It was only then that Kai realised how attractive the maid was. Initially, Kai had thought the maid who had been cleaning his bathroom to be quite young, but he instantly realised that idea was wrong.

The maid looked to be around mid 30's, looking a little younger than Anastasia. However, the maid before him had a more busty body.

Kai frowned slightly.

Maybe it wasn't just him that had a type, Castillian seemed to have a rather specific taste with his maids apparently... And he did seem like the type to take on mistresses.

The maid quickly stood up as she fixed her glasses, she then patted her maid uniform into shape as she smiled and looked at Kai.

Kai then realised how screwed he might be in the outer worlds. So far, every woman he had met outside the tutorial, even though that number had only been 2, had been taller than him.

He didn't think he was that short, but was he really?

The green haired maid bowed her head respectfully, the smile still hovering on her face.

"It is an honour to meet you, Sir Kai. My name is Yelena and I am the maid who has been assigned to you."

Kai flinched slightly, had she really just called him Sir? To be honest, he found it quite cool that someone was calling him sir, but it was also a little cringe.

"Ah, you don't have to call me Sir, just Kai is fine."

The maid's expression shifted slightly, but she just smiled sweetly and said:

"Okay, Kai, if that is what you wish."

After that, the maid didn't move and just kept staring at Kai, a sweet smile on her face.

To be honest, she gave Kai quite the motherly vibe, like the ones you would see in the movies. Always having outrageous bodies while being incredibly sweet.

However, after the maid kept staring at him for a few seconds, Kai felt a blush creep onto his face, so he said:

"And, I'm sorry about the mess... Is there anything you want me to do?"

Yelena giggled softly and shook her head, her green hair cascading over her uniform.

"Oh no, I couldn't ask you to do that, this is my duty after all. No no, you just go and rest, I'll handle everything in here."

Kai scratched the back of his neck, a guilty expression on his face.

Really, what was he thinking last night? Was he really that childish? Not even a day out of the tutorials and he was already acting up?

Sighing, Kai grabbed a sponge out of the bucket of water beside Yelena and said:

"No, it's fine, I have nothing else to do anyway."

Yelena got a little flustered when Kai grabbed the sponge, but she just accepted it as she smiled happily.

Then, she got back on her hands and knees and started scrubbing the floor clean.

Kai, meanwhile, started cleaning the dirt and water that had made it onto the walls. He wasn't sure how Umbra's fur had managed to look so nice the whole tutorial while hiding all this dirt, but somehow she did.

Yelena started to hum instead of singing. Kai wasn't sure if it was because he was here now, but he didn't really mind, she had a nice voice after all.

After a while, the bathroom was returned to the same condition it had been in before Kai's arrival, pristine and spotless, not a speck of dirt anyway.

Wiping a bit of sweat off her brow, Yelana exhaled and placed the rag she had been using back into the bucket, the water inside now a much darker shade.

"I do appreciate your help, Sir Kai. You made my job a lot easier."

Kai smiled in response, not bothering to mention that she had gone back to calling him Sir Kai, it wasn't like it was a big deal anyway.

"Ah, it's fine, I was going to clean it up myself anyway so it wasn't a problem."

Yelena giggled softly as she picked up her bucket.

"Still, it would have been my job to clean it anyway."

Yelena then made her way to the bathroom door before turning around to face Kai and bowing deeply.

"Goodbye, Sir Kai, and I hope you have a nice evening."

Then, Yelana straightened her back and exited Kai's room, leaving him alone once more.

Meanwhile, Kai just stood there, a blank expression on his face.

What was he meant to do when someone bowed to him? Was he supposed to thank them or bow back or something?

Kai sighed and shook his head, that was a problem for another day. He then took one last glance around the bathroom, admiring his and Yelena's work.

After that, Kai made his way back over to his extremely comfortable bed and plopped down onto it, face first into a pillow.

Up until the first tutorial, Kai never realised how much he was taking pillows for granted. They really were one of the greatest things ever created, there was no doubt in his mind about that.

However, after lifting his head out of his pillow, Kai noticed a rather thick looking book with a note attached to it sitting on the locker on the otherwise of the bed.

Rolling over to the other side, Kai picked up the book and read what the note said.

Kai held in a sigh. Honestly, it might not even be the cold that ended up killing him, it would just be the personality of the queen herself.

However, Kai did quite like reading...

So surely there was no harm in reading the book, right?

But first of all, Kai read the title of the book.

Well, that title was a little...

Kai felt as if he would regret reading this book, but he also felt that he would regret it if he didn't read it.

In the past, he read quite the variety of books. Be it action, mystery, romance, fiction, thriller, he didn't really mind what the genre was as long as it was good.

And he wasn't going to just judge a book by a cover, there was a whole saying for that.

... Even though the cover was just an open mouth with a pair of fangs.

Still, Kai was curious, so he opened the first page and began reading.

Chapter 1

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Well, I don't know if I can answer for a tree, but I certainly made a sound when I fell.

God, why did I have to wear such an outfit for an outdoor walk? It was just supposed to be a nice, spiritual journey for me, yet now I'm on the ground being chased by-

"Found you."

My head snapped around to see the one who had said that.

"Damien, we can talk about this."

Damien snarled, his fangs reflecting the moonlight.

"I told you what would happen if you came back, I gave you the oppurtunity, and now you've lost it."

Before I could even respond, Damien was on top of me, pinning me to the wet dirt. I squirmed in an attempt to free myself, but I was quickly silenced.

"Stop."

I felt myself blush as I looked up at Damien. My heart raced as I saw the way his skin curved around his cheekbones, the way his gaze seemed to bore right through my clothing.

... The way I felt something press into my lower abdomen.

"It's time to face the consequences of your actions."

Before I could even react, Damien's fangs sunk into my neck, making me moan softly as I felt my blood drain.

He really was a vampire, through and through.

I pushed softly against his broad chest, but I knew in my heart that I wasn't really fighting.

I wanted this just as much as he did.

"Now, be a good girl for me."

Blood dripped from his mouth as I panted for breath, but that look in his eyes had me hooked.

I nodded my head softly, not wanting to postpone this any longer.

Then, without hesitation, Damien's mouth closed in on my neck once more as his hand started making its way down my-

It was smut.

Kai promptly closed the book after that.
