Kaiser of the New World

After the alarms, sirens and nuclear warnings, Kai wakes up in an empty white room. With no idea what to do, he just waits for anything to happen...hoping something will happen. Only when the voice of...something... breaks him out of the monotonous life of the white room, he realises the problems he will have to face just to survive. Note - First few chapters are slow, monotonous and downright terrible, I mean, just going back and looking at chapter three has me cringing. My writing gets better as the story goes on, but it still has a few info dumps. The first few chapter are the shortest by far, like chapter 30 is the same length as 1, 2 and part of ch 3 combined. Honestly, you can just skim the first five and then maybe read it a little more in depth. Thanks, and please, go easy on the first chapters, I already hate them. Schedule is new chapter every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

A proper rest

Kai stared blankly at the door as a loud creak echoed throughout his new bedroom as the door swung shut.

Softly lifting a hand up to his cheek, Kai placed it where she had touched him as his face turned to an odd mixture of blushing and paling.

Had she really just petted his cheek and... called him a good boy?

After a few seconds of standing in silence, Kai sighed and shook his head, turning around to take in his new bedroom.

To put it bluntly, it was one of the most beautiful things he had ever seen.

As he had explained in the gargantuan screen room with the angel, both the angel and the first form The Ever-changing had taken on were externally beautiful, but that was mainly lust.

However, the sight of a normal- no, not normal- lavish bed and bathtub before him...

It nearly brought tears to Kai's eyes.

However, there was quite a few paintings spread throughout the room, and Kai had seen enough horror movies and such to know the potential of them.

Some of the paintings were just beautiful landscapes, some were of strange animals Kai had never seen before, but there was also one of King Castillian himself, though he looked a bit younger than he did now.

Still, it was better to be safe then sorry, so Kai activated Soul Sense as he looked around the room.

Looking around at all the walls of his new bedroom, Kai was pleased to see that there was no souls on the opposite side of any of the walls.

Kai sighed in relief. This meant that either the paintings had no peepholes in the first place, or that there was just no one watching him right now.

...Or that the King had lied and there was beings more powerful that Ezekial lurking around that Kai couldn't sense.

But it was also a little strange that their was no souls at all. Surely there had to be a few maids or workers tending to the castle, but there was none near him. Did that mean Kai was the only one in this section of the caste?

Then again, Kai had no idea how far the range of his Soul Sense was, so that was another problem.

Still, Kai had at least put in an effort to be cautious of his surroundings. Something felt off about the current situation... But he just couldn't figure out what it was.

And now that he had made sure, to the best of his abilities, that no one was watching him, Kai felt a grin make its way onto his face as he made his way to the bathroom.

Something he was upset about after the tutorial ending was the fact his innate translator had been taken away, but another thing that he was upset about is that whatever was preventing his bladder from doing its job had been taken away also.

Meaning, Kai had to go toilet for the first time in months.

A statement that he never thought that he would have to think.

And a few minutes later, Kai had wrapped up. To be honest, he had gotten used to the peace of not having to go bathroom, but now that it was back, he felt a little bitter.

Still, he was a lot more bitter that he had to use a translator to understand other people now.

To be honest, they should have sold translators in the tutorial shop, it seemed like something that would rake in the big bucks considering that everyone would need them.

Yet the shopkeeper hadn't sold any, only making Kai more proud that he had stolen their wonky wooden stand. He was sure to give them his feedback if they ever met them in the future.

But getting back to the current topic, Kai was also pleasantly surprised that this current Subdimension was at least developed enough to possess toilets and not just have people use buckets.

They also had a working plumbing system, which was something Kai wasn't sure if every subdimension possessed.

After taking care of his business, Kai started to fill the bathtub with hot water. He watched as the water fell in and splashed in the bathtub, tenderly placing a hand in the rapidly filling tub.

It was hot.

However, if this was the Kai back on Earth, he would have most definitely had to have pulled his hand out and suffered some burns, but now with all his new stats, it kind of felt nice, the burning sensation.

Still, it wasn't something that Kai would want to feel for long, so he started filling it with cold water at the same time.

Once the tub was filled, Kai dismissed all his items of clothing and got in.

The feeling was heavenly.

Looking back, Kai could admit that it was a little dumb that he didn't just bathe in one of the rivers inside of the Dome. It probably wouldn't have been that efficient or useful, but it would have been a smart idea.

But then again, that probably would have just diluted the sense of comfort that he was currently feeling.

Kai let out a sigh of relief as he fell further into the tub until it was just his head above the water. There was some steam rising above, distorting his vision slightly, but he didn't mind.

It was relaxing, the feeling of the water wrapped around his body, it almost made up for everything that he went though.

Suddenly, an idea popped into his head. It's not like it was only him that needed a bath.

Kai washed himself thoroughly, making sure to clean himself with the soap offered. He spent another twenty minutes in the tub before getting out and drying himself with one of the towels present. He then put his tunic back on and let the water drain out of the tub.

Then, he started filling it again.

To be honest, Kai knew he was petty, he always was. If someone annoyed him, he would just do small things to get them back, he would do it so that it almost seemed as if he wasn't retaliating.

Stealing the shopkeepers stand was just one of the more up front acts he had committed.

So since the King had annoyed him slightly, he was going to make sure that he got the most out of what he had been offered.

Once the tub was filled with water of the perfect temperature, Kai smiled slyly as a wolf started to emerge from his shadow.

Kai petted Umbra's head softly as she looked around, confused. Kai grinned as he set up a telepathic link with his trusty familiar.

"Hey girl, wanna have a bath?"

Umbra tilted her head innocently.

"Bath?"

Kai nodded in response.

"Yep, bath. Your fur is so shiny and pristine that we have to make sure that we take care of it, otherwise it won't look as nice."

That was all Kai needed to say as Umbra jumped into the bath, some of the water spilling over the edge. Kai smiled softly, turns out Umbra did care about vanity and not just sleeping and playing.

Once she was inside, Kai made sure to get every inch of her fur wet before lathering her in shampoo. Even though it didn't mention if it worked for animals, Kai thought that it would be fine, Umbra was a strong being after all.

Umbra then relaxed inside the bath, a feeling that Kai could understand. It really was a pleasant experience after going so long without it.

Then again, there was still a third member of Kai's team that was currently going without it.

While Umbra relaxed in the tub, Kai summon Esurient and grabbed a sponge from the side of the tub and dipped it in the water.

Then, after a small conversation with the still tired blade, Kai got to work on cleaning it.

He carefully cleaned every edge of the blade, making his reflection even more prominent in the Ruby coloured blade.

He also accidently cut the sponge in half on Esurient's edge, but that only meant that Kai now had two sponges to clean his trusty blade.

After another twenty minutes or so of just cleaning and enjoying the time with his companions, Kai sent Esurient back to his soul to continue its rest while Umbra jumped out of the bath, spilling even more water everywhere.

Then, to Kai's horror, Umbra turned into a real dog and started shaking, water flinging to every part of the bathroom. Mirror, wall, towels, floor, nothing was safe from her attack.

Not even Kai.

By the end, his tunic was soaked, making it impossible to sleep in.

But Kai didn't mind, he chuckled softly as he admired how pretty Umbra's fur looked now, it was even more shiny than it had been before.

After petting her head one last time, Kai watched as Umbra made her way back into his shadow.

Then, Kai left the bathroom the way it was, deciding to clean it at a later time, or just hoping that Castillian would have to allocate someone to clean it.

Kai went over to the wardrobe and whistled softly, admiring all the clothing.

Then again, all of the things in the wardrobe could probably be replicated by his Fortified Bodysuit, with its function that allowed it to change its appearance to anything under 500000 Units, which Kai still didn't really understand.

He picked out a set of silk pyjamas that looked way too fancy for someone like him and slipped them on before getting into the ginormous bed that he had been offered.

It really was as comfy as it looked.

Kai sighed contently as he glanced around the room once more. While it was a beautiful room, it just couldn't compare to the room he had back on Earth. It could just be the sentimental value, but it was also the fact this bedroom was also sort of medieval.

Thick red curtains protected the window, which was still being shielded by that strange black cloud. There was also the fact that the room just felt... dark.

There was no lights above his head or anything like that, there was just strange lamps on the lockers beside his bed and some other candles spread throughout the room. It was apparent that electricity was not a thing in this world.

Still, those were just passing thoughts, and after admiring the comfort of the bed for a few minutes...

Kai fell asleep in an actual bed for the first time in half a year.

Ahh, Kai finally gets a proper break. He'll definitely need it after all.
