Shocks and Losses. Joining The Order. A Special Task.

James thought he settled in this town very easily but he was wrong. He didn't know what the night held in for him. It was going to be his worst nightmare. Except he wouldn't be dreaming!

"Hey Prongsie!" Sirius whispered, he poked the bed mattress.

"Whaaa?" James was in a deep sleep.

"I hear something."

'What?"

"Just Listen!"

The clock was almost striking up to 12 am. It was ten minutes to 12.

Someone screamed.

"Is it for your birthday?" Sirius asked.

"Don't be a prat!" James jabbed his elbow into Sirius's stomach. "Why would someone scream like that?"

"Aveda KeDarava!" Someone shouted.

"What's happening?"

James opened the door, and looked from the stairs, to the floor. Six people were standing in the living room, Sirius and James turned. Now a stag and black dog stood on the stairs and came down. Mr and Mrs Potter lay on the floor lifeless and dead. The Death Eaters looked around, they saw no one there.

They were going outside, as James was on the bottom of the stairs. He turned back, his wand in his hand.

"Stupefy!"

James's tall figure stood in the dark, the moon reflecting from his round rimmed Death Mark was clear on the rage was channeling and the last Death Eater who was just about to disapparate lying on the street on the other side.

Sirius came from the back of the room,

"James!" He yelled, "Prongs, look at me!" He screamed.

Other people from the house next door came out. It was Lily, Petunia, Vernon who were staying over, and Mr and Mrs Evans were standing on their doorstep.

The connection from James's mind and his wand broke, and the Death Eater disappeared at once. Ministry officers and Aurors appeared at the door.

The officers started to erase the dark mark from the sky. The Aurors were now questioning James and Sirius. One of the Auror was now putting James under arrest.

"What?"

"He broke the law!" The officer told Sirius, "He was not of age!"

"He would have been after 10 bloody minutes," Sirius stared at the officer, "That man killed his parents, and he gets arrested!"

Lily looked over to the two boys, they were taken away by the Aurors.

"I defend them!" Albus Dumbledore stood in front of the judge. "They will not be expelled!"

"But he broke the law!"

The Judge was pointing his finger to James, who was sitting in a chair, chained up like a criminal. Sirius was sitting on the bench, nervous like crazy.

"You can do whatever you want, Cornelius!" Dumbledore stood in front of the desk. "James Potter will not be expelled. I am his supporter." He ended firmly.

People in the jury always admired Dumbledore.

"People in favor of Potter?"

Almost all of them raised their hands.

"Potter released, no conviction, a warning issued!"

Judge Cornelius went outside without looking at Albus, or James.

James Potter sat on the train, with his friends, Remus, Peter, and Sirius.

"And I didn't think that's how I would celebrate my 17th birthday, you know!" James was telling them.

"I know, Prongsie!"

"I mean, Mom and Dad were just lying...and the arrest."

Remus stood up from the other side of the cabin, and sat right next to James. He placed his hand on James's shoulder.

"I know, I am sorry!"

"I am really sorry, James!"

James received condolences from many people around the train, the seventh year students, his classmates, and his younger admirers. They were just getting out of the Hogwarts Express. James was called into Dumbledore's office right after the feast. He knocked three times, as he passed the gargoyle.

"Come in!"

"You called for me, Professor?"

"Yes, Sit down!" Dumbledore pointed to the seat in front of him.

James took the seat quietly, He didn't know what to say or do. It was the first time, he had seen Dumbledore after the court hearing, and Dumbledore hadn't exactly been happy then.

"I know about your parents, I would propose that you..." Dumbledore went on. "I would assume that you are very angry and depressed."

James's fists clenched.

"I propose that you join," Dumbledore invited him, "The Order!"

"The Order of the Phoenix?" James was shocked.

"Yes!" Dumbledore told him, "Young brave men like you are very much cherished!"

"So I can join?"

"So do you want to?"

"Yes!" James cried, "Most definitely! I can join as fast as I can, can I join today? He was so excited that he stood up from his seat. "I am going to..."

"Relax, Mr Potter!" Dumbledore pointed to the seat, "You can channel your rage and anger on the missions and the work you are going to be sent on!"

"Yes, Sir!" James sat on the chair.

"So do you accept?" Dumbledore asked.

"Yes, Sir!"

Dumbledore presented a document in front of him. "Please sign here, Mr Potter!"

James took the quill from the side of the table, and signed the paper without reading it. He was determined to have revenge.

"Welcome!" Dumbledore shook his hand, "Mr Potter, Welcome, To the Order of the Phoenix."

"Thank you, Professor," James replied. "I am pleased to do this!"

As James left the office, his insides burned with fury and rage. He wanted to rip apart the Death Eaters from each other, and destroy Voldemort's followers.

"Yes, Sir."

18 year old James Potter stood in front of the desk, Albus Dumbledore was giving him his orders.

"I will do exactly as you say."

He was agreeing to what he was supposed to do. He went outside the room, and through the Hogwarts castle, into Hogsmeade. He disapparated into thin air. He stood in front of the house his father bought to hide from the Death Eaters. He looked around the living room. He had cleared all the things last semester and moved back to his house in Godric's Hollow with Sirius.

He looked around the house, and he ran his hand on the sofa side. He spent a few more minutes in the house. It was the house his parents died in.
