Episode 8

I sat up on the bed. Well this was exactly what I was waiting for. I need to get ready for school. Had the news of my death gotten to school? Was the whole world aware I was dead? It would really be dramatic to appear in school after being announced to be dead. What am I going to do?

I checked the time and discovered it was 5:30 already. Family devotion would begin by 6:30. I need to observe my quiet time before that time. Everything in our house was timed. I don't know how my parents manged to pull it off, but they are so good at it.

Thirty minutes for family devotion and 30 minutes to prepare for school. By 7:30 everyone is out of the house and on their way to school

It was a timing that was so consistent and unbreakable.

I sat down and bowed my head to pray. I began with a few worship songs and prayed for a few minutes. I normally should have woken up earlier for my quiet time, but since I woke up late, I had to spend the little time I can.

I opened my bible randomly and began to search for something to read and meditate on that morning. I was searching for scriptures when my eyes stumbled on a scripture.

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Verse 5. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Verse 6. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Verse 7. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

Verse 8. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Verse 9. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Verse 10. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

I was almost crying.

"Daddy, are you saying that I'm not born of God? Are you saying I'm born of the devil. The way I tell lies, hate, steal, envy, get jealous, fornicate and everything. Do you mean I am not born again? Do I need to get born again afresh?" I asked tearfully.

"OPE, IT'S TALKING ABOUT LOCATION!"

"Location?" I asked.

"YES LOCATION. READ THAT SCRIPTURE AGAIN. START WITH VERSE 5."

"And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Verse 6. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him."

"WHOSOEVER ABIDES IN ME SINNETH NOT."

"Ore mi, you're getting me confused. I know I'm not perfect. I'm loaded with a lot of imperfections. I sin and I'm so ashamed to say that to you. But I've heard people saying that if I call myself a child of God and I still live in sin, I am not genuinely born again.

Ore mi, can you please explain what this means to me? How can someone who is born again still live in sin? Or is there anything as fake born again and genuinely born again?"

"OPE, WHETHER YOU'RE FAKELY BORN AGAIN, OR GENUINELY BORN AGAIN IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS. THE WORD OF GOD IS CLEAR IN THIS MATTER.

IF YOU CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD, YOU SHALL BE SAVED. ITS LIKE AN ORACLE. YOU SPEAK IT AND IT HAPPENS. A HARDENED CRIMINAL CAN BE IN A CLUB AND SCROLLS THROUGH HIS PHONE AND MEET A PREACHER ONLINE.

IF HE CAN SAY THOSE WORDS RIGHT THERE IN THE BAR, HE HAS SUBSCRIBED TO THE BOOK OF LIFE. AND GOTTEN HIMSELF REGISTERED WITH HEAVEN.

BUT I NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT SCRIPTURE. READ VERSE 5 AGAIN."

"And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin."

"IN JESUS THERE IS NO SIN. IN ME, OPE, IN ME, THERE IS NO SIN. SO HOW COME DO BELIEVERS BELIEVE IN ME AND LIVE IN SIN?"

"Daddy, this is the most confusing bible study I've ever had." I said in frustration.

"OPE CALM DOWN. NOW LOOK AT WHAT THE SCRIPTURE IS SAYING. HE THAT ABIDETH IN ME DOES NOT COMMIT SIN. IT'S NOT ABOUT WHETHER YOU GENUINELY GAVE YOUR LIFE TO CHRIST OR NOT. IT'S ABOUT WHERE YOU'RE STANDING SPIRITUALLY OR SHOULD I SAY, WHO YOU'RE STANDING WITH.

NOW IN ORDER FOR ME TO EXPLAIN THIS VERY WELL, I'LL HAVE TO USE THE PARABLE OF THE PRODIGAL SON. THE BOY WAS IN THE SAME HOUSE WITH HIS DAD. HE WAS IN CHRIST. HE WAS UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY. HE WAS RESTING IN THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD.

SUDDENLY, THE BOY STOOD UP AND SAID 'DADDY, I WANT TO MASTURBATE. BUT I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT MASTURBATION IS NOT ALLOWED IN THIS HOUSE. FOR ME TO MASTURBATE, I HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE. I HAVE TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER HOUSE AND MASTURBATE THERE.'

SUDDENLY, THE BOY STOOD UP AND SAID, 'DADDY, I WANT TO DRINK ALCOHOL AND SMOKE. BUT I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED IN YOUR HOUSE. SMOKING AND FORNICATING WITH ALL KINDS OF GIRLS IS NOT ALLOWED IN CHRIST.

SO IN ORDER FOR ME TO ENJOY THE PLEASURES OF SIN, WHICH I AM CRAVING FOR, I HAVE TO DETACH MYSELF FROM CHRIST. I HAVE TO LEAVE THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY AND ENTER THE EXPOSURE OF DEMONIC ENTITIES. I HAVE TO LEAVE THE SHELTER OF MY FATHER AND FALL INTO THE HOMELESSNESS OF LUCIFER'S SHORT TERM ACCOMODATIONS.

SO INORDER TO COMMIT SIN, THE BELIEVER SWITCHES LOCATION. HE WALKS UP TO GOD THE LOVING FATHER, AND SAY, 'GIVE ME ALL MY INHERITANCE IN CHRIST!'

SOON, HE LEAVES GOD TO GO AND MASTURBATE. YOU SEE THE REASON WHY SIN HAS NO POWER OVER YOU? WHAT SIN DOES IS TO ENTICE YOU. SIN CANNOT OVERPOWER YOU. STOP THINKING THAT WAY. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT SIN SHALL NO MORE HAVE DOMINION OVER YOU. IT'S NOT A SUGGESTION. ITS A REALITY FOR AS MANY THAT RECEIVE JESUS.

SATAN KNOWS THIS, BUT ONCE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU'RE NOT AWARE, HE'LL MAKE YOU FEEL AS IF SIN IS POWERFUL AND IN THE SPIRIT REALM, WHATEVER YOU ACCEPT IN YOUR HEART, BECOMES YOUR REALITY.

IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU'LL FALL, YOU'LL FALL. THE SAME WAY IF YOU BELIEVE THAT SIN CANNOT OVERPOWER YOU, THAT'S WHAT YOU'LL HAVE. BE IT UNTO YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH. SOMETIMES, YOUR FAITH CAN BE SOMETHING NEGATIVE. BE IT UNTO YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR NEGATIVE ASSUMPTIONS.

LIFE AND DEATH ARE IN YOUR TONGUE AND YOU'LL EAT OUT OF WAHT YOU PRONOUNCE UPON YOURSELF.

SO BACK TO WHAT I WAS SAYING. SIN ENTICES YOU. SIN MAKES YOU BELIEVE THAT HE'S THE MOST INTERESTING FELLOW. HOLINESS IS BORING. RIGHTEOUSNESS IS A WASTE OF PRECIOUS TIME. HAVE FUN AND DON'T MISS OUT.

SIN KEEPS MAKING YOU SEE HIM AS A HARMLESS LITTLE FUN AND WINS YOUR APPROVAL. AND SOON, YOU DETACH YOURSELF FROM GOD, TO RUN AFTER THE PLEASURES OF SIN. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT SIN DOES."

"Wow! Ore mi, this is unbelievable!"

"CAN I TELL YOU WHAT ELSE SIN DOES TO YOU?"

"Daddy, please tell me!"

"WHEN THE PRODIGAL SON LEFT THE HOUSE, DID HE LEAVE THE HOUSE EMPTY HANDED?"

"BUT WHEN HE WAS COMING BACK, DID HE COME BACK LOADED?"

"THAT'S WHAT THE DEVIL WANTS. SOMETIMES, THE DEVIL IS NOT AFTER YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE. HE'S JUST INTERESTED IN THE BUSINESS OF DRAINING YOU CONSISTENTLY."

"Haaaaaa! Daddy! This is too much!" I screamed inwardly.

"YES! SOMETIMES THE DEVIL'S AGENDA IS NOT TO STOP YOU FROM WALKING WITH GOD, BUT TO CONSISTENTLY EMPTY YOU OF EVERYTHING YOU HAD GATHERED FROM YOUR 3 MONTHS OF SPIRITUAL CONSISTENCY."

"Haaaaaa! Nooooooo!"

"YES OPE! YES! THAT'S WHY YOU'RE PRAYING AND PRAYING AND BUILDING CAPACITY FOR TWO WEEKS. SUDDENLY MASTURBATION JUST COMES WITH FULL FORCE AND BEGINS TO BANG ON YOUR SPIRITUAL DOOR HEAVILY. YOU KEEP SAYING NO AND IT JEEPS SAYING YOU MUST OBEY HIM.

MANY BELIEVERS DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT IT CAME TO TURN YOUR CONTAINER UPSIDE DOWN. FATHER FILL ME! FATHER POUR YOUR HOLY FIRE ON ME! FATHER FILL ME WITH GRACE! FATHER EMPOWER ME! FATHER EQUIP ME WITH WEAPONS OF WAR!

YOU KEEP PRAYING ALL THESE DANGEROUS PRAYERS AND SIN COMES TURN YOUR CONTAINER UPSIDE DOWN AND EMPTIES EVERYTHING YOU HAVE GATHERED IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS."

"Haaaaa! Satan is a liar! This is too much! Satan has seriously been cheating on me and on many believers!"

"MY PEOPLE PERISH FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. THE ABSENCE OF KNOWLEDGE IS THE CAUSE OF A LOT OF BELIEVERS PERISHING EVERYDAY."

"So that's the reason why many believers can be in the church for years and still remaining in the same level. Because, even if they make a little progress spiritually, the enemy will come and drag them back to square one. Start afresh! Start all over. Every single week. No progress. The same thing they're struggling with last week, they're still struggling with it the following week and the week after.

Haaaaa! This is terrible. Daddy! I can't believe this! Satan is seriously cheating us!"

"OPE, IF YE KNOW THESE THINGS HAPPY ARE YE IF YE DO THEM. I HAVE SO MUCH TO TEACH YOU RIGHT NOW, BUT IT'S TIME FOR YOUR FAMILY DEVOTION. GO AND JOIN YOUR PARENTS."

"Okay sir!" I replied and went down on my knees to worship God.

My phone began to ring. I checked the caller ID and discovered it was Juliet Anderson calling.

I quickly took the call and sis with a broad smile on my face.

"Hello mummy!"

"Hello Ope! Please stop calling me mummy. Just Juliet or another nickname would be enough!"

"No oooo! That nickname mummy goes well without my system," I replied cheerfully.

"And what about my system? Don't you care about my own system too?"

"You'll sort yourself out! I don't give a damn about your system!" I replied and we both burst into laughter.

"So you know the reason why I called. God is a faithful God. It's we who fail to hold on to the end. I know he can do it, but any limitations in the demonstration of God's power comes from we humans.

So did you overcome or gave in?"

I wanted to say yes in a jiffy but I felt like having a little question and answer session with her.

"Mummy, can I ask you a question?"

"Ask?"

"What if I gave in, what would you have done with me? Tagged me an unserious christian and have nothing to do with me ever again. Would you call me a disappointment to God that after seeing hell, yet, I refused to bend my stubborn and rebellious heart? What would you have done?"

There was a brief silence before she finally spoke.

"That's one thing about the fatherhood of God. When you have a baby who ran off bathed himself with mud. When you see your baby so messed up and helpless, you'll be so eager to clean her up as quickly as possible.

No matter how disobedient the child has been, that child still remains the father's child. And as long as that son of the president needs to be cleaned up, the father is more than willing to ensure that.

If that is exactly what God would do to a child who feels so unworthy of him. A child who feels so undeserving, yet asks for his forgiveness, I will do the same."

I felt like bursting into tears.

"God bless you ma. For allowing the forgiving nature of God to be expressed to his children through you. Join me and rejoice, the Lord has triumphed over masturbation in my life last night!"

I could hear her screaming on the phone in excitement.

The word of God says in John 6:37. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Daddy is not a man. He is God, he's compassionate. The bible says his anger is only for a moment, but his mercy endures forever.

Come! Come! Come! Don't condemn yourself! Stop calling what God has cleansed unclean.

Come to him! He's ready to give you a new beginning.

How many of you are shocked by Ope's bible class. This is what sin does. Sometimes, Satan knows getting you to stop serving God is a no. So he'll engage in getting you to waste all your spiritual investment and start all over.
