Jess’ Girl

Lucy grew up in town of Stars Hallow behind the scenes. Her traumatic backstory being juicy gossip, did not interest the small town in the slightest to notice her. I'll Talk To Him Tomorrow

The concerto rose; the violins playing as if they were weeping the sad song. As the wails died down the song picked up with gentle flutes. The notes lead a journey to another violin solo. A sweet feminine E note followed by it's decided duet with a D note. Lucy smiled to herself.

A negative cello led a stairwell down for the violin to finish her duet. Through this patient battle a silent trumpet blared from behind. The orchestration grew more intense in feeling; a mixed emotion of hope and desperation, dwindling down with a fiddle in despair. Suddenly, the chorus appeared from nowhere and Lucy's eyes grew glossy thinking of it. Just as the song was picking up to it's finally the build of passion in strings rose higher and higher, a great promise ahead for the story, AND---

"Hey!"

Lucy jumped in her seat and looked up. Luke's' Diner. She was in, Luke's Diner. She looked up at the person who had so rudely interrupted her concentration. A boy not too older than she was, with hardened puppy eyes and black wispy curled hair. She frowned, "What." she said still sort of out of place at the moment.

He held up a pot of coffee, "I've been sitting here for five minutes now, asking if you want coffee." he said, "Now, before you make your decision? Might I remind you that you've been sitting here for almost an hour and haven't ordered anything. So if you don't order something, I have the right to kick you out."

"Excuse me?"

"Oh, are you finally leaving?" he retorted sarcastically. "Great."

Lucy sat up straight in her chair, "No I mean excuse me, as in I'm going to need you to repeat yourself, because the last time I checked, I do this everyday. And not once has any person working here come up to me and complained." she looked around; playing the sarcastic card herself, "I don't see anyone I'm disturbing. I'm just sitting here."

"It's a small town, with lots of benches for you to just sit there." he argued.

"Not as fine as this one though." she shrugged cockily.

"You know what?" He said putting the pot down just about ready to say something she assumed would be vile, "You have--"

"Jess!" she heard the familiar voice. This so called Jess closed his mouth reluctantly and looked down as if he were trying so hard to hold his tongue. He looked down as Luke made his way over to him, "You leave that girl alone, you hear me?"

"She hasn't ordered anything." Jess defended himself by complaining again.

"Leave her alone." Luke repeated; emphasizing his words a little more. "Fine!" he sighed; giving up quickly and leaving upstairs to Luke's apartment.

Luke looked back at Lucy, "I'm sorry Lu. He's like that with everyone." he sighed and looked at her, "Can I get you anything?"

"Who was he?" she asked him curiously.

Luke looked back only briefly at where Jess had disappeared off to; just to clarify that that was who she was taking interest in. He looked back at her, "Jess. My nephew."

"I've never seen him around." she commented. Luke shrugged, "Yeah, well, he's new. Anyway about your order?" he tried changing the subject. "Luke.." she smiled knowingly at him.

"A nice latte?"

"Luke."

"Eggs benedict. On the house even!"

"Luke!" she smiled wider. These little debates she would have with him made it all the more entertaining in this tiny town of theirs. All she had to say was his name and give him one look and he would babble on. He looked at her and rubbed his head; sighing.

"Look, Lucy." he took a brief moment to sit at the table with her. "Jess isn't a normal kid okay? He's got issues he's trying to mull over and well, I have issues with him I'm still mulling over myself--"

"What issues?"

"None of your business." he said quickly before continuing, "He mulls them over in an irresponsible matter, alright? And I don't want you getting caught up in that."

"So I just act like he doesn't exist." she looked at him.

"Not exactly just, you know...act...like..he doesn't exist." Luke said in his awkward gruff. Lucy smiled innocently, "Okay, Luke. I'll talk to him tomorrow."

"-Of course you will." he sighed; getting up and walking away with the pot jess left behind. Lucy smiled smally to herself and looked back at her notes and her phone. She put her music back on play. She plugged her earbuds back into her ear and smiled to herself. She anticipated more arguments with Luke's nephew.
