Knowing

The rabbit monster started laughing. John and Natasha were scared enough to start shaking themselves. They didn't think that monster could talk. It started talking,

"Ha… ha… ha… look at that. The strongest 'energy being' died at my own hands."

John was shaking like he was shocked. He never felt fear like that. But the reason for his fear was not of his own life. The moment he saw Phoenix and Scarmerine, he also sensed that Donna was there. She came in right after John and Natasha came out of the house.

John didn't even look at her. He didn't even show that he knew of her presence. He was only thinking about her safety. He didn't want them to notice her, but it only made him lose his own confidence.

John looked at Phoenix. He was still inside the hole made by the strong punch of the rabbit monster. Scarmerine was standing there watching everything. Natasha thought of using her powers to attack the monster. She might be able to withstand the battle but no guarantee about the safety of Maria. The rabbit monster started walking towards Scarmerine. The rabbit monster said,

"Look at that puny, your friend is dead. I know that the kid isn't much of a threat to me. So I'll deal with him later. You are the only one that might cause some trouble. You energy beings thought that someone like me could never beat you all. But the only reason I didn't touch any of you was because of the orders. But now the order is clear. I must kill the boy no matter who opposes me. So next one is you."

The rabbit monster continued walking towards Scarmerine. Scarmerine didn't even flinch. He pointed at the rabbit monster's back and said,

"What you said was interesting, but you should watch your back."

The rabbit monster thought Scarmerine was trying to distract him. But in seconds the rabbit monster felt something. It looked back. The ground started shaking. While everyone was watching, Phoenix got back up. His body was smashed but he started regenerating and it finished in seconds. Even the rabbit monster got scared seeing that. Scarmerine smirked and said,

"Never turn your back on an enemy if you are not sure that he's done."

Phoenix started screaming like he was gathering power. His body started changing and energy started emitting from his body. He opened his eyes and looked at the rabbit monster. That time John noticed that Phoenix's eye color changed. It was pure green. The rabbit monster charged towards Phoenix. But within seconds Phoenix grabbed the monster's head and he screamed again. Energy started flowing into the rabbit monster till it disintegrated.

It was too horrible to watch. John and Natasha were still standing there like they were frozen. Donna was watching it from a distance. She fainted and fell down.

Everything started to change. The heavy atmosphere turned to normal as Phoenix changed back to his normal form. He sat down and started meditating. Scarmerine came near John and touched him. John woke up like he was asleep. He asked,

"What…? What just happened…?"

Scarmerine smiled and said,

"Do not worry John. Everything is fine. Well I see something else is wrong here."

Scarmerine looked at Maria and moved towards her. He put his hand on her forehead. John got worried and asked,

"Hey… what do you think you are doing?"

Scarmerine didn't turn he just said,

"This problem here. I'm taking care of it. She will be fine."

After some seconds Natasha came out of Maira and Maria fell down. Scarmerine looked at John and said,

"Look John, I'm just helping. See she's not stuck inside anymore. Now I need you to go and get that girl over there. She saw us so I must wipe her memories. This one is fine she won't be remembering anything. Let's take them inside. It's their house right?"

John didn't understand anything completely but he felt relieved to see Natasha was out. He walked towards Donna and picked her up. Scarmerine picked up maria and they both took the mother and daughter inside. Scarmerine wiped the memory of them out of Donna's mind. Then he checked if she's injured. Luckily they were both fine.

John and Scarmerine walked out. Natasha was still feeling a little dizzy. Phoenix opened his eyes and they both vanished without even saying a word.

Natasha floated like a zombie ghost. She came near John and asked,

"Who the hell are those guys? What just happened here? Why did you seem like you knew them?"

John looked at her. But he was thinking about something else and said,

"More importantly we need to go somewhere. Let's go to that house and let's continue our search. I'll tell you about them on the way."

John got on the bike and looked back at Donna's house for a second. He promised her he would come back and check on her, inside his mind. They headed towards the haunted house. On the way John said,

"I'm still wondering why you don't remember them, Nat. We were together when we first encountered them. (Natasha nodded like she doesn't remember. John continued.) We were fighting a werewolf. It was on the outskirts of Tamara town. You and I were struggling to defeat it. But they came in and finished it quickly. That guy Scarmerine has the power to wipe memory. But when did he wipe yours? Or can he even wipe the memory of a soul."

Natasha doesn't remember anything. She started thinking. But nothing came back.

At the same time Donna woke up and she woke Maria too. Both of them didn't remember what happened and they tried to remember it. Nothing happened so they decided to let it go.

John and Natasha reached the town. The town people seemed frustrated. John saw the town people carrying a lot of dead cows, dogs, hens and other animals. John realized something was wrong there. Some people saw John and started murmuring. Natasha concentrated and heard them say,

"It's him. It all started after he came and left this place."

John also heard that. He started looking for Ben. Ben was sitting beside a woman on the side of a road. John assumed they were sitting in front of Ben's house. John stopped his vehicle nearby and walked towards Ben. Ben saw John and said,

"John… What have you done? This many problems all at once. It's sure that the house is cursing us again. I do remember this happening before. Once when a girl tried to break-in to the house."

John sat beside him without saying anything. He looked at the woman. She was crying. John saw people taking out dead cow's from the farm behind John's house. The woman looked like Ben's wife. She was crying because she lost the cow's she nurtured and loved just like her own kids. For each cow that they took out she said their names and cried.

John told Ben that he will take care of everything. But Ben thought,

'After all this happened, even if he takes care of it the animals won't come back alive.'

John walked towards the house. Natasha followed. John looked at the house from far away. He was carrying his backpack. He pulled out a bottle of holy water and drank some water from it. He was prepared this time. Natasha suddenly asked like she remembered something,

"June, you told me about Phoenix and Scarmerine. But you didn't tell me why the rabbit monster attacked us and why they appeared out of nowhere and helped us."

John was thinking a lot about the house. So he answered carelessly,

"The rabbit monster might have been sent by that guy who followed us. But why the energy beings helped us, I don't know."

Natasha looked at him with a curious face and asked,

"Energy beings?"

John scratched his head and said,

"I don't know much about them. But Phoenix and Scarmerine called themselves the energy beings. You even heard that the rabbit monster also called them energy beings."

They walked and reached in front of the house. The black and white fur cat was sitting there watching them approaching the house again.

He stopped for a brief moment and continued talking,

"Once I asked father andrewson about the energy beings. He coughed and said that they have the power to control energy. There are a total of twelve of them in the whole world. The five of them have the power to absorb energy and emit them at will. Other five have the ability to manipulate energy like increasing or decreasing, changing its nature kind of like that. One of them has the power to do both and the last one can create or destroy the energy, I don't think that is possible though."

Natasha started thinking. She thought about father andrewson. Suddenly she remembered. She said,

"June… June.. I forgot to tell you some important information. It was him. It was father Andrewson that day, talking on the other side of the phone to the guy who followed us…
