We both have been walking for a while now, and not a single word has been uttered between us.
I was just staring ahead of the path the entire time. Looking past the people going on the sidewalk
Glancing at my phone, it was already past midnight. My legs were aching like hell and it felt like my bones were about to snap in half.
"Excuse me" i paused, massaging god-awfuly aching legs
"Hmm?"
"How much further is your house?"
"Not far now. Only Nine-hundred miles left to walk"
"What?! We'll take a week to get there!"
"I thought walking was your forte"
he snorted
"Of course not! I'll die of exhaustion before we even get half way there!"
He looked at me. Staring blankly
"Fine." He walked towards me, and turned to his back side.
"Grab onto me"
"Grab where?"
"Anywhere"
So i did. I grabbed onto his pants
"Got anywhere else to grab onto?"
"You said anywhere"
He sighed
"Hold on"
He tapped the black band on his wrist and it glowed a neon blue. After a few seconds of the dim glow, the wrist band beeped a few times and it was only a matter of seconds before the both of us were already standing in the middle of a thick, snow covered forest surrounded mostly by pine trees and gigantic cones stacked on a pile of snow.
"It's so dark"
"Mhm."
he looked around
Silence then took over. The crickets play their midnight rhapsodies. Leo stopped and closed his eyes, his golden mane brushing over his dark tux.
"So..."
"Wait. I'm just enjoying the fresh air."
"Oh"
After a few seconds more, we started to walk again just straight forward in freezing ice, and as we went further i saw light coming from the distance. A faint light of what seems to be a...
...a huge and elegant pale house.
"Woah."
"Lost for words?"
It was all white on the outside. A long sheet of glass exposing the entire balcony, square and flat exteriors, lush green bushes surrounding the walls and i could see a small fireplace lit up. The faint light was actually coming from there.
I was expecting something like a normal creeky hut.
But, its not like i don't wanna be here too.
"Hey you know what? This is too much for me. I might aswell go back and sleep on a bench"
"Nah, it's alright" he slapped my shoulder
"Then I'll just sleep on the floor"
He went silent. Probably ignoring all my gibberish.
We then just stood there looking at the beauty in front of us. Nothing but the cold night's breeze on or faces.
"You know..."
I looked at him. He was scrolling through his phone.
"Sometimes i wonder why these kind of thing happen" I looked at the white fluff on my feet. The sounds of snow crunching
made me want to stomp it more
"What happened? You mean meeting me and Mr husky guy?"
"Yes. I'm not really sure why this had to happen"
He rubbed his chin while pondering with a hum
"It's called fate. Nobody really has a choice. It's all set out for them"
"We don't have a choice? Are you sure about that?"
"What do you mean?"
He glanced at me and then gazed into the night sky, filled with a trillion lights forming a river of colors
"What i mean is -"
I smacked his face with a ball of snow. He jumped back and spat out bits of ice from his mouth
"Rude!" He wiped his face of snow
He, patted off the last bits of snow from his fur and cleared his throat. His gaze toward the fireplace was stale.
"Well, i'm clearly not human. And i'm not just a normal person like our race. We don't ever get to get too much contact to norms. We're sort of a... a different type.
We're Like umm... A chili pepper placed on a peanut butter and jam sandwich. We're that different"
"Oh."
"You're not allowed to go in contact with normie people?"
"Nah, i just don't want to"
How unrealistic of him.
"I'm not an average kind of person. A normal person with no powers whatever."
"I already know"
"Yes, but what i mean is..." he closed his eyes. Rubbing his chin while making humming sounds
"How old are you?"
"What?"
"I'm asking you how old are you?"
"I'm nineteen"
"Hmm. How do say this..."
He closed his eyes again
"Let's just say i'm alot older than you."
"That's not informative at all"
He just laughed.
