Thief?

As they walked, Cyril suddenly asked Rian a 'weird' question, "Is your nose sharp?"

Rian blinked his eyes and innocently nodded, "Yes, but how did you know that, Brother Cyril?"

Cyril simply smiled, "I just observed that you were sensitive to the smell of glue earlier, so I asked."

"Oh," Rian nodded. He was already used to Cyril's observations and stopped getting excited every single time. At least he tried to.

The gleam deep within his eyes had betrayed his true emotions though.

Cyril did not care about his emotions and simply gave him a task, "Try smelling for some nice food."

Rian tilted his head sideways in confusion, but he nodded nonetheless.

According to what Rian knows, if they want food, they have to buy it using their system, and the system will give them anything they want. So, he did not understand how he would find the smell of nice food. Except for the food others buy from their system!?

He suddenly had a thought, and his eyes widened. He then looked hesitantly and asked, "Brother Cyril, are you trying to steal other people's food to save our points? Wouldn't we be punished if we stole?"

"..." Cyril did not understand how this silly man came to this conclusion, but he suddenly asked back, "Don't you know that this island is a law-free zone?"

-whoosh-

A breeze blew past Rian, and he stood there frozen in shock. "Huh?"

"You really didn't know?" Cyril asked, looking at his expression.

Rian placed his hand over his mouth and then slowly leaned towards Cyril and asked softly, "Do you mean even if someone killed me, no one would care anymore?"

Cyril understood that Rian really did not know this and nodded, "Yes."

Rian's eyes widened as wide as saucers and crossed his hands over his chest as if someone was about to strip him naked and asked, "Oh my Goodness. Brother Cyril, you have to save me. What should I do if someone wants to kill me?"

He then vigilantly moved his head and looked around. He then suddenly but silently hid behind Cyril, "Brother Cyril, I hear some sounds. Is someone coming towards us? Are they coming to kill me? Brother Cyril, please hide me properly. Save me if the person is here to get me, okay? Please remember that I call you my Brother, okay? Please save your younger brother, okay?"

"..." Cyril was dumbfounded by this sudden dumb brother he found in a cardboard box at the side of the road. He looked around and knew no one was approaching them at all.

"There is no one coming our way. Stop hiding first and stand straight."

"I will come out only if you promise me that you will protect my life," Rian shook his head while he continued to hide behind Cyril.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. I will protect your precious life. Now come out," Cyril almost rolled his eyes at him.

"Yayy, thank you, Brother Cyril," Once Rian came out, he hugged him tightly and grinned sweetly, showing his canine teeth.

He really looked like some cute kid next door. He couldn't believe that he would find such a person inside a prison.

At this thought, he couldn't help but ask with his narrowed eyes, "What exactly were you inside this prison for? Also, why do you think someone wants to kill you so badly? What have you done before coming here?"

Cyril understood that only someone who had done something very terrible would be imprisoned in this island prison. It was so that the prisoners here wouldn't be able to affect the lives of the civilians in the outside world.

What terrible thing could this sweet and innocent-looking kid could have done to fall into this prison? Cyril couldn't understand at all.

"Eh," Rian scratched the back of his head and lowered his eyes, hiding the emotions in them. He couldn't speak a word at all.

Cyril understood that he wouldn't want to discuss this with him and did not stress about it. He changed the topic immediately, "Could you smell any food?"

"Brother Cyril, are we really going to steal food? Even though this place isn't exactly law-abiding, I think we shouldn't do anything immoral like that. Can we not steal, Brother Cyril?" Rian heaved a sigh of relief that Cyril did not press the topic on, but he couldn't help but plead with him to thwart his plan.

Cyril was surprised by his thoughts. He now couldn't help but wonder again how could this 'law-abiding' kid have entered this high-level prison.

He hid his thoughts well and casually clicked his tongue, "Tsk, what are you taking me for? Do I look like a thief? I just asked you to smell nice food. I want to find a chef in here." Before Rian could say another word, he stopped him in time, "Now stop talking nonsense and concentrating on smelling. Use your nose for me."

Rian was satisfied as long as they weren't going to steal, and he smiled while nodding. He then used his nose to sniff around in the air. When Cyril saw his expression, he once again thought of his dog.

He suddenly wanted to find a leash and tie it around his neck. Then he realized that Rian is a human and if he said his thoughts out loud, others might think he had weird and kinky thoughts regarding a man who regarded him as his brother.

Even though he knew that his thoughts were pure, he wouldn't want others to look down on him.

So, he curbed his thoughts to himself and followed the sniffing Rian.

"Brother Cyril, I smell so many varieties of nice foods in this Den. I think this place is what you were searching for. What do you want to do now?" Rian pointed his finger at a den and asked.

Cyril looked at the den and saw that even though it looked like any other den, it had one special feature. It had a chimney attached at the top. He could see the smoke flowing out of the den and knew this place was what he wanted to find.

He nodded and casually said, "Let's go inside."

"Huh? Brother Cyril. What if that man kills us for entering his den?" Rian suddenly asked and even pulled Cyril back, stopping him from going any further towards the den.
