Chapter 13: Dungeon City

They finally arrived in the dungeon city! "Woah! There's so many people!" Siah said. The people in the city are equipped with weapons, the city is prosperous, and any place you go, you'll see stores!

"Siah! Siah! Let's get one of those!" Kathy pointed to one of the store stands.

"Okay," they say as they walk towards it.Oh, "barbecue?"

"You're a sharp one! Yes, this is indeed a barbecue," the shop owner guy said.

"This is interesting; I'll get 5."

"Gotcha." After getting their food, Kathy and Siah walk around the city. The city, which surrounds the large dungeon in the middle, is rich with all kinds of stuff.

There are also many different kinds of races who are walking around: elves, humans, dwarves, and other demi-humans.

It's good that they all get along, but... They really hate demons, huh? There's no sign of demons nearby, making Kathy anxious.

"Woa, what are you doing?" Kathy said, surprised that Siah lifted her and put her on his shoulders.

"Kathy, let's explore this city!"

She smiled and whispered, "What a fool."

"What do you mean, fool?" Siah shouted.

But Kathy just giggled while both of them were enjoying their day, meanwhile, in the slums of the dungeon city.

The dungeon city might be prosperous, but there's still those adventurers who are unfortunate—kids that were left behind because their parents died in the dungeon, adventurers who got injured and had no way of making money—different kinds of reasons to be put in the slums.

"This is the largest slum of all the slums we visit, isn't it?"

"Yeah, completely the dark side of the popular dungeon city," the two men were saying. The two men were soldiers of Siah.

equipped in sleek black armor, their faces concealed by a high-tech helmet. They're armed with a cutting-edge rifle, effortlessly slung across their back, ready for action.

"Well, I'm glad that we can save them."

"Yeah" 

Their helmet can easily determine if they commit a crime; just by looking at them, they can decide whether to take them or not.

The two soldiers are walking around while walking; they then get inside one of the recked houses by barging in, "Who are you people?" A two-year-old kid is living in the house.

A boy who is around 14 years old and his sister, who is 10 years old, are protecting him well. "The girl is pure, but his brother... he killed someone; what do you think?"

"Hey! Why did you kill someone?"

"Why the fck should I tell you?" The boy said angrily while glaring at them.

"Boy, we're here to save you and your sister; judging from her looks, she's sick, isn't she? We have a place where we took people like you to a safe place."

"And why should I trust you?"

One of the soldiers then took his sister and said, "Hey!"

"Brother!!" 

"You see, boy, don't waste our time," one of the soldiers said as he glared at the boy.

The soldier who took the girl, held her as a hostage, and pointed a pistol at her head said, "Talk, or else we'll kill her." The two children started crying.

"Damn it! I killed my father! Okay! Is that what you wanted?"

"Why did you kill him?"

"He's an adventurer, a scum; he used our mother as a sacrifice for him to escape! He also tried to rape my sister!" He said with a hateful face. "It's my luck that I killed him before that!" He said while smiling.

"He isn't lying, but for him to smile when he said he killed his father, what a strange man," the soldier then smiled. "And that's what we're looking for," the soldier said to his thoughts.

"You passed" 

"What-?" In a blink of an eye, the soldier was already standing in front of the kid and knocking on his neck.

"Brother!" The other soldier knocked on the girl as well.

The soldiers then ask the two kids, "We're evil, are we?"

"It's okay, as long as we saved them," the two soldiers said, and they went back to their camp, which is on the edge of the slum.

The soldiers appeared here one day when Siah left the base. They've been killing criminals and saving those who are worth saving. It may take time, as there are some who won't cooperate. That's why they use force.

"Report; this is the last person in the slum."

"Good work," Mae said.

"That was fun, isn't it?" Siah said as they sat on the bed.

"Yeah!" Kathy said.

It's now evening, and after all their exploration, they are exhausted. After eating their dinner, they both went back to sleep.

In the middle of the night, a strange man appeared in the slum. It's a knight wearing a black and silver suit of armor with a red accent while having a large black sword on his back. His appearance is like that of a bulky man who's 6 feet tall.

"In the middle of a slum, there's no one, not even one; it's the first time to him that the slum is silent.

He continued to walk and find his way to Mae's temporary base; it's heavily guarded by soldiers. One soldier spoke to the man, "Hey! What are you doing here?"

"..." He ignored them and continued to walk towards them. The guards then pointed their guns towards him and said, "Hey! Stop! Or we'll shoot!"

"Lower your weapons!" Mae said as she went towards them. With dozens of soldiers standing by, ready to shoot him down, Mae just casually approached him.

No soldiers say a word; they know that Mae knows what she's doing. "titled Dark Knight, the adamantite adventurer, you came here for the children, right? But don't worry, they are all safe; follow me," she said. The knight still didn't talk and kept his silence.

Mae and the knight walk inside the temporary base, using the slum houses as a shield and making a circle to hide their tents. It's a wide temporary base that can hold 5,000 people.

They get inside, and with the soldiers following them, there are some who didn't follow them as they had guard duty to do.

The inside, which is covered by an illusion device that conceals their base, making it look like it's just an ordinary part of the slums, is full of tents and war vehicles.

"You see, we've been waiting for you; there's no way that we'll fight an adamantite adventurer; after all, if we kill you now, our master will get mad," Mae said with confidence.

They get inside one of the large tents, which is full of double-decked beds. "Here's the kids; you don't have to worry; they are in good hands now."

"How?" The knight asked.

"Well, based on the reports, you often visit the slum, and a scout said that you've been feeding the kids; you're a kind man despite your scary appearance. Anyways, it's already midnight; you should sleep here for today."

The knight nodded and said, "Good, we'll prepare a bed for you."

"Thank you..."

"You don't have to worry about it; just make sure to give it your best for the upcoming event."

"That's given" 

Mae smirked. "I'll be going then."

That guy who agreed to sleep here even though he still can't trust us, is he saying that he can take us down even if we fight him? How arrogant.

In the morning, Siah and Kathy go to the adventurer's guild and give them the letter inside the guild master's office: "You arrived earlier than expected."

"Yeah, I'm excited to fight an adamantite adventurer after all."

"Is that so? Now that you have arrived, we can now prepare the necessities. You two must be tired; you can rest and explore the town for now."

"We'll do that,"

Days passed, and the event began! There was a large crowd in the arena, all hyped for the fight.

"The adamantite test! Where a qualified adamantite adventurer will fight an adamantite adventurer! This battle that happens once a year! Depending on those who are qualified! Let's end the talking and focus on the fight!! Our qualified adamantite adventurer! Siah!!! And our current adamantite adventurer, the known Dark Knight!" The whole crowd hyped up, shouting and clapping.

In the crowd, there are many unknown figures and strong characters; there are also nobles and even kings watching from afar, With the large blue screen there that is like a system, is being used like a large screen, it seems to be magic tool, and that MC, he's using a mic and speakers, isn't he?

They might haven't advanced, but they use their magic well. "The rules are simple! Those who step out of the circle will immediately lose; that goes as well for those who give up! And lastly, the weak aren't qualified to become an adamantite adventurer! That's why killing your opponent is allowed!"

"With that being said, let the fight begin!"
