CHAPTER 76

Y/N'S POV

The first step to convert our stay at the Sinclair's house was to negotiate with Enid's mom and establish certain agreements to have a successful coexistence. We had to be realistic, there were a lot of them at home and therefore there were a lot of expenses, so it was necessary for us to talk about my expenses and the Sadies. Staying for free was not in our plans, besides it would make us look like we were taken advantage of.

- Enid: Are you sure about this? No one wants to sit next to Mom during dinner... No one but dad, of course - she glanced sideways at her mother - She has accepted you as my partner, but accepting you into the pack officially is a more serious matter. And the fact that Sadie is going to stay too... It will make it a little more complicated.

-Y/N: I'm not afraid of your mother, she's my mother-in-law - I smiled - Eventually we'll have to bond, besides I have to discuss some aspects about our stay here to make it easier for her - I took her hand - Just trust me, I'm quite persuasive.

-Enid: - she nodded - I just wanted to warn you that you are literally getting into the wolf's mouth, but I know how you are and I know that you are not easily intimidated - she brought her face closer to mine.

-Y/N: I don't know... I feel quite intimidated right now - I smirked while biting my lip - You are the only person capable of making me feel like that. Are you aware?

-Enid: Mhmm - she smiled and brought her hand to my face trying to bring us even closer together. We were about to kiss when someone came between us and separated us making the she-wolf snap her tongue and frown - Dad! - she growled at her.

-Mr. Sinclair: Your mother is coming home from shopping with your brothers, I'm not going to let her get mad when she sees you so together - he sighed - In Nevermore is different because it's not our territory, but in our house... You'll have to be more cautious. All right? - he looked at me.

-Y/N: - I nodded - Sorry, I didn't mean to break your rules - I lied.

Enid, Sadie and I offered to help prepare dinner even though it basically consisted of roast beef. Where was the concept of a balanced diet? I don't know, some vegetables or fruit for dessert... All the Sinclairs had bought was meat! And although I said to buy, some pieces of meat were from game so I assumed that they had brought it after a hunting party.

-Mrs. Sinclair: How nice it feels to get home and have the table ready for dinner - she smiled at us - You must be hungry after the flight. Right?

-Sadie: We're starving - she smiled - I can't wait to start eating. Where should we sit?

-Mrs. Sinclair: Wherever you want, there is only one rule at the table - she smiled - Alpha is the one who starts eating, followed by his Omega and then in order of age. Easy, right?

- Sadie: I mean, first you two and then Enid's older brothers. Right?

-Mrs. Sinclair: Then you and later the kids - she clapped her hands and took a seat before she started howling - Kids to dinner!

I had to hurry to take a seat next to her because immediately a bunch of wolves appeared everywhere and joined us at the table. While the older ones started eating, I took the liberty of counting how many there were in Enid's family and tried to remember their names. There were mom and dad, older brother Avon, second older brother Cyrus, Enid herself, her sister Jen two years younger, the ten-year-old twins Niall and Neil, and finally little Will. That made a total of nine wolves in the pack plus two newly added vixens.

- Enid: Are you going to talk to her yes or no? - she whispered to me.

-Y/N: I'm waiting for the best opportunity to do it, now she's busy devouring those roasted ribs - I whispered back.

-Enid: That's why you should do it now, while she's eating she's in a really good mood.

I waited a couple more minutes pondering how to bring up the topic of conversation before daring to interrupt the matriarch with my words. I observed the rest of those present at the table to make sure that none of them would interrupt my conversation with her and then I started with my strategy to ensure a good coexistence that would benefit us.

-Y/N: I like that the house is so lively - I commented - Where I come from we barely talk.

-Mrs. Sinclair: Oh, being so many we had no choice but to get used to the constant noise - she wiped herself with the napkin before continuing - I guess it's part of coexistence to learn to put up with each other - Bingo! I was just waiting for her to say something like that.

-Y/N: Speaking of coexistence, I would like to thank you once again for allowing Sadie and I to stay at your house - I smiled - I know it's not very common for foxes and wolves to share the same territory, but I hope this can help with the inconvenience - I said passing her a white envelope - The interior contains plenty of money to cover our expenses.

- Mrs. Sinclair: - she stopped eating and took the envelope looking at me seriously - Are you calling us poor? - she raised an eyebrow questioning me.

- Y/N: Oh, no, no... Forgive me if I offended you - I swallowed thickly - It's just that it didn't seem right to stay for free, at least I wanted to cover our expenses and contribute a little for anything necessary for the household.

-Mrs. Sinclair: - she shifted her gaze from me to Enid, then to Sadie and finally to her husband - I come to know that having two foxes would give us so many benefits and we get them sooner - she let out a giggle - I was joking, Y/N! It would be polite of me to say that it is not necessary because you are our guests, but the truth is that this money will come in handy - she smiled and filled my plate with meat - Come on eat, you are of growing age.

-Avon: But Ciro and I haven't finished serving each other yet - he looked at me annoyed.

- Mrs. Sinclair: So what? This is the first source of income apart from your father's and mine, as for hierarchy we can consider Y/N your equal from today - she stroked my head - Besides, they are our guests. Where are your manners? This unpleasant attitude perfectly justifies that you haven't found your mate yet - she reproached him.

The chat with Mrs. Sinclair had turned into a quarrel between mother and son, so I decided to take advantage of the situation to start eating. The roast beef was delicious, but I couldn't enjoy it quietly because out of nowhere I noticed a sneaky hand climbing up my thigh. I averted my gaze downwards and came across Enid's hand looking for contact, I slid mine and intertwined it with hers causing a smile on the blonde.

-Y/N: I told you it would be fine and to trust me - I smiled as I whispered to her.

-Enid: - nodded - And it has put you in the same status as my brother Avon, you have no idea what you just got - she let out a giggle and looked at me - It's something only you could do, Addams.

-Y/N: - I smiled and served food to Enid - Let's eat before it gets cold, this is the first of many family dinners - I said proudly.
