Chapter 5 The Fate of Dawnville

The captains of the Knights including Iris Wit, were gathered with each squad of Knights standing behind their captains. in an organised manner in their training ground waiting for the general. There are seven captains in total each leading at least a hundred soldiers under them. soon the general walked in.

"Knights of Dawnville we've recieved word that the Kingsland army is approaching, this was confirmed by the scouts and spy team sent out under captain Levi, and it's been confirmed that they will be at our gates in about two weeks," some of the soldiers looked worried, "captain Levi come up here and adress us on what you've found out" General Riker said to Iris.

"yes sir" Levi responded. Levi walked up to general Riker, he gave a salute, by putting his right fist on the left part of his chest. after that he turned to face the soldiers.

"most of the Kingsland army are at the Crimson Sect and they most likely have the Crimson Sect on their knees by now, and they're already on their way here, and they will be here in less than a week or two, that was the information we got from our spies. The remaining army of Kingsland are to remain in Kingsland so as not to leave their city defenceless" Levi said, and continued, there's also been reports of the army of Kingsland having weapons enough for the whole army and they are all at the intermediate tier or higher. After saying these things general Riker sent levi back so that he could continue addressing the army.

"I understand that we are severely outnumbered but the king of Curtis agreed to make a permanent alliance with us joining our families through marriage, the Princess is now engaged to the crowned prince of Curtis. in about three days we should have all the back up we need, so I need you all to start preparing, war is coming and we should be prepared for it"

"sir what about our weapons, we have enough weapons for the entire army, but most of them are normal weapons, we barely have enough beast weapons" and if what you say is true we would not stand a chance against them," one of the Captains asked.

"the king has made payment to an envoy from the land of gold for more weapons, and the weapons will arrive in three days time, if there are no hiccups along the way. this means there will be enough for every soldier in the army".

This gave the soldiers hope and their previous grim expressions had changed to ones of hope.

"now this doesn't mean you should grow complacent, we will train until the arrival of the enemy, and when the weapons arrive we will train more, we will train and when we go onto the battlefield we will crush our enemies" Captain Ryker shouted, and every one cheered. while they were cheering a guard ran in injured and bleeding, shouting.

"we are under attack, they've infiltrated the city." some guards ran over to help him, but Levi got to him first,

"speak soldier who's here" captain Levi asked

"they killed the guards at the gates they're destroying everything and killing anyone that stands in their way" the guard said as he fell down but Levi caught him

"who are they, did they say who they are" the general asked worried

"they had the Sygil of Kingsland "

Levi looked towards the general, with a frown on his face.

"someone take him to the infirmary," general Riker said and two of the soldiers walked forward and picked him up taking him out of the training ground. "it seems we've been misinformed" general Ryker said while looking at Levi frowning.

Levi tried to explain, "the information we recieved from the spies may have been false. I don't think we are prepared for this"

General Ryker walked up to a pair of double doors, it is the door to the armoury, he opened the door "come let's get our weapons, let's show the enemy we are not to be messed with.

They walked into the armoury, there were weapons on shelves and tables, mainly swords and spears with some bows and arrows, the army of Dawnville have few archers. General Ryker distributed the weapons to them accordingly, every captain had a tier weapon. "Alright first, captain Jackson, Armin, and momoa you three take your men and secure the royal and noble families, and if the battle gets out of hand I want you to take them to the evacuation centre,"

"YES SIR" they responded and walked out to do as they were told.

"Captain Levi, Captain Iris, you both take your men and help to get the citizens out of harms way take them to the palace if it's not compromised, and if it is take them straight to the evacuation centre".

"they were not supposed to be here the info could not have been wrong"

"well they are, take half of your team and guide the royal family to the shelters, then assist with the evacuation"

"yes sir" Iris said and lead 50 of his soldiers to the palace.

"the rest of you come with me let's show the enemy that we are not as weak as they think" general Riker said and took a broad sword with red designs and scales on it.

Iris and captain Levi led their soldiers out of the training grounds with general Riker and the other two captains with their soldiers beside them, they ran to the city market because that would be the most populated area and will be likely to have more casualties. But when they got there, although they saw was the bodies of their soldiers and citizens of Dawnville killed but few bodies of the enemy. "what in the name of the gods is this " Iris asked frowning

"why are the bodies of the enemy fewer than ours, they couldn't have overwhelmed us this much"

"this is not a time to freeze go and save the people that you find alive" general Riker said and charged forward. while the others left to catch up to the enemy, Iris and levi used the opportunity to save as many people as they could, but there wasn't much to save, some of the people had already escaped but looking around they saw dead bodies every where, they were the bodies of the citizens. They left the market and went to various houses saving the ones they could save, Iris and levi assigned some men to take the injured to the shelter.

Iris and Levi's squad separated from the main team, they were on their way to the palace when they found about a hundred soldiers from Kingsland fighting their own. They ran ahead to assist their men.

Irisled his team forward, a soldier came at Iris, but a soldier from his side blocked the attack, another from Iris left came and impaled him with his sword. They moved forward and engaged in battle.

Although some of their men were lost, they emerged victorious. But they got to the palace, they saw the bodies of soldiers and common people on the ground blood and dead bodies where everywhere.

As they walked in they saw the dead bodies of captain armin and momoa, most of the soldiers under them had died, the strange thing was they found few bodies of the enemy, it's like there was no loss on the enemy's side.

"I dont see the bodies of any member of the royal family, it seems captain Jackson was able to secure the royal family," Captain Levi said.

"let's leave " Iris said with a frown on his face.

"Captain Wit" captain Levi called, and Iris turned to face him

"I know you're worried about your mother, you should send someone to find her" Iris looked at him and smilled

"I'm not worried about the enemy finding my mother, the enemy should be the ones scared if she finds them" Iris responded. "when we are done with the evacuation I'll leave you to general Ryker and go find my mother"
