Chapter 45: News from the village

When the rice is cooked, the men also returns to the house then enter the kitchen after cleaning up their feet and wiping their feet dry. The Bai siblings will wipe the floor when they see water or dirt, even the two smaller one, they will clean up properly after eating their snacks. It may have been their habit.

"Just in time. You grown men go and replace the rice pot with the iron wok." Grandma Bo order. Second Li and Grandpa Bo went forward and do as they were told.

For her, men and women are equal, she is going to train her siblings to not have the stereotype that only women should work in the kitchen. The two lady fried the eggplants while Bai Yi Yang prepare the ingredients for the eggplant dish. The men are sitting around on the dinner table, waiting if their help is needed. Bai Yi Chen and Li Su Nong has also joined them, both of the teenagers seems to have taken a bath after going out, their hair is still wet.

"The flood is worse than last night, Lao Li has also moved the villagers away. Their house weren't as badly affected as ours though." Second Li said. The Lao Li he is talking about is Head Village Li, Head Village Li is the oldest of them siblings.

"So, did they all move safely?" Aunt Li ask. The villagers are basically related to each other, she is quite worried about her relatives.

"All safe, older brother has count them and everyone is there except for our two families." Second Li answer, only then Aunt Li relax.

"Weren't there any flood here before?" Bai Yi Chen ask. This time, it is especially bad.

"There are, actually it happened every year. This year flood affected our village the most. It has been about three years since we have flood this big, and it becomes more unpredictable, not like before. Usually only our two family who need move, the village meeting hall is good enough, but even that place may be reached by water if this continue." Grandpa Bo said.

"This is nature. Very hard to predict." Second Li said. Grandpa Bo nod, the other also thinks so.

"Our village is already quite good, there are areas where only a few hours of rain caused flooding. I don't dare live in a place like that." Grandpa Bo add.

"The damage in our house is also lesser compared to other. We are always prepared so all those electronics has been moved to higher place. My brothers was complaining to me this morning after they moved away, they didn't have time to arrange them since the water is rising fast. I already told them about Yi Chen words, but they wouldn't believe it." Second Li add. Yesterday, Bai Yi Chen told them about Bai Yi Yang wether prediction that the rain will only get worse instead of getting better, he told this things to his brothers on phone, but they still didn't take precaution.

"Talking about it, Yi Chen prediction is quite accurate." Grandpa Bo said.

"It wasn't me. Yang Yang is sensitive towards weather changes, so she remind me a few times." Bai Yi Chen said, he look at Bai Yi Yang.

"Ohh..so its eldest yatou who guess it." Grandpa Bo said.

"I was just guessing. I saw the cloud pattern and wind, that's all.." Bai Yi Yang who heard it said modestly. Being too confident is not good, the villagers may think that it was her words that angry the heaven and cause the heavy flood. Some villagers may still believe in superstition.

"There are really people who can tell by that method, I met people like that before. At the morning, they look at the sky and said that it's going to rain, and it really rain in the evening." Grandpa Bo nod, he just think that Bai Yi Yang is the talented type who has read about this things.

"That's what I am saying. I told my brothers on the phone about heavy rain in the early morning, but after the rain stopped during the midnight, they lowered their guards. When they woke up, the villagers saw that the water is raising, what else can they do but rush to take only the important things, they are more unprepared than us two families." Second Li complaint.

Actually they went down the mountain just now was because they received this news from Head Village Li, they wanted to see how far the water has rise.

"No matter, as long as everyone is safe. Talking about that, Yi Chen said that the rain won't improve until tomorrow, is that true Yatou?" Grandpa Bo ask.

"En, this heavy rain will continue for all day. By midnight, it will slow down and completely gone before tomorrow afternoon. There won't be rain in the evening." Bai Yi Yang pretend to look at the sky, acting as if she is thinking before saying this this. There is no other way, the grown up people is looking intently at her.

'Blergh…' The system make a vomiting sound, as if disgusted by her acting. Bai Yi Yang roll her eyes and feels like knocking that certain something head. Unfortunately, there is nothing to be knock for now.

"Good, good. Listen to you bah." Grandpa Bo said.

Then they continue to chat while Bai Yi Yang start cooking the eggplants dish. Since they don't have other dishes, there are large quantities of it all glossy with oils with delicious sauce. The lunch arrangement is also the same, the Bai siblings will eat in the kitchen and the rest eats in the living room. When Grandpa Bo who is in charge of assisting Grandma Bo with the rice bowls smells the fragrance of rice and sausages, he cannot help but praise Bai Yi Yang a few times.

"Since coming here, you ate more than usual, is my cooking that bad?" Grandma Bo glared at her old man.

"It's because the eldest yatou is a very good cook, like a restaurant chef, my wife is really not bad, this, blame it to eldest yatou." Grandpa Bo coax. Bai Yi Yang only smile at the old couple little drama.

Everyone eat a lot during lunch, even when Bai Yi Yang already prepared a large amount of rice, it was still gone in the end. She knows her siblings like it so other people will surely like it. The two teenage boys who do the dishes had it easy because there are no leftovers.

Bai Yi Yang returns to the Main house with a kettle of tea after finished cleaning up the kitchen with the lady, then as promised she gave snacks to the children. Even after eating that much during lunch, they still have the appetite for snacks, Bai Yi Yang was amazed.

Bai Yi Yang sat for a while with the people while enjoying the hot tea, she listened to their stories, when people gather to sit around, they will have a lot of interesting stories.

As she have guessed, the Bo old couple used to live in the city, their family has developed early and come to the city, they have two children, which is the eldest son who is Bo Yuan father and another daughter who is also married to the city. They recently move to the village about 7-8 years ago, not very long, it used to be Grandpa Bo relatives house and land. They bought it from them. As for why they move to the village, Grandpa Bo didn't say, it can be due to they are tired of living in big city or because of other reason. Its not important either, as long as they are good people. There are a lot of people who decided to live in less busy area when they are old.

As for Bo Yuan, Grandma Bo told her about him, he used to return to the village to live with them during holidays, but his parents decided to let him live here for the past few years. He rarely returns to the city now, his parents also rarely return to visit him. Bai Yi Yang finally understand why he was acting like a villain. He just lacks parental love and care. Actually he is quite pitiful. Bai Yi Yang only think about that in her heart though, she didn't dare and doesn't want to meddle in someone else family matter, she just hope that Bo Yuan will grow up into a good person.

Then, there is Second Li family. They have stayed in Qinfang village for generations, the men married people from the village or nearby village, and women from their family also married to local village men.

Second Li has a total of 7 siblings, 3 of them are male and 4 are female, their parents are still alive and surprisingly, the parents live with their eldest daughter instead of Head Village Li, the eldest son.

Bai Yi Yang never heard of the eldest sister name that Second Li mention, but from the sound of it, the parents seems to be content with living with the eldest daughter.

The Li siblings relationships is food, so they didn't mind about things like this. But some of their conversations also said that the siblings still sends good things for their parents even if they are not staying with their parents. What a filial children the Old Li couple had raised.

And actually Bai Yi Yang was amazed with their strong mentality to keep staying in the village, there is no such thing as living in the city is better than living in the village, just look at their family, they looks content with their life, they have enough food to eat, relationship amongst relatives is good.

Then compare it to the Bai family in City Bei, they are the so called true city folks, what did they do when their parents passed, they turn their back to them faster than light. So unreliable. But don't expect her to look out for them in the future too, if people is good to her, then she will also be good but she will not even give a glance at the Bai family in City Bei anymore.

They chatted until Bai Yi Yang decided to bring her siblings into the bedroom to take a nap. They are full and feeling a bit sleepy. It is cold too, isn't it nice to have an afternoon nap now?

The two families is not as awkward as last night, no matter what, they still need to stay here for another day, why not let themselves be comfortable instead. They all ends up returning to their room to take a nap. Bai Yi Yang close the window and the room immediately turns dark.She even woke up late than usual, she woke up at 2.30 pm and quickly wash her face before heading to the workshop.
