Chapter 196: R&D team future and Sports Club

The following day which is Monday. The R&D team once again had an awarding ceremony during the assembly. The highlight of the assembly was to honour the R&D team with Sir Austin because of their victory.

The students from the school finally know how big of an honour the R&D team gave the school and City Nan when reporters came to take a lot of pictures during the awarding ceremony. Even after the assembly, the 4 students was called in the meeting room to give interview with the reporters.

Bai Yi Yang only able to return to class about 15 minutes before the class start, she also hand over the souvenirs to her classmates. This time however, the highlight is not the souvenirs but Bai Yi Yang experience and her 'expensive' certificate.

They are students in Class 1, they put importance to merit to enter good university. When the heard about the certificate of excellent performance that each participant can get, their eyes were twinkling. What more, Bai Yi Yang and her team also got the highest award which is Gold award, the number 1 in Research category and also best presentation, they all are aiming for the R&D team next year.

"Everyone got it?" Fang Xiu Ying ask. In this life, she may not be able to beat Su Long, what more there is Bai Yi Yang who took the 1st place spot now, so if she is able to join the R&D team, she is willing to do anything.

Just look at Senior Ruby, she wasn't in Class 1 but because of this certificates, she will also get Outstanding Student's scholarships like Bai Yi Yang. Yes, Bai Yi Yang and Ruby An is offered an Outstanding Student Scholarship, something that is only about 100 students in City Nan will get. Their education will be free and they even have a lot of allowance given.

As for Li Jian Yu and Wang Yi Lin, they will graduate this semester so they don't need it. They don't even need this scholarship anymore because this certificate of excellent performance is a golden ticket to enter any university they desired, they are so lucky.

"Yes. Everyone who entered the competition." Bai Yi Yang clarified. The certificate of excellent performance is what the rest of the team members are aiming at the first place, they were happy enough as long as they are chosen to enter the finals, who knows that they will get Gold on top of that.

"None of us is in the R&D team, can we apply to enter the team for next year? Will Sir Austin send 1 team also, can't we send 2 teams?" Someone else ask. If it is 1 team only, then the chance to get it is very low since 1 team will only have 5 people, Bai Yi Yang and Ruby An will surely be in the team again next year so only 3 spots are left.

"I don't know about that, that's depends on Sir Austin and the club's decision, I think sending 2 teams is possible since the club has received a lot of funding. Why don't you ask Sir Austin later." Bai Yi Yang answer. She really don't know about this matter.

What more, next month she will start another project with Sir Austin alone, this time, they will take their time since Sir Austin and his lab assistant will be the only one doing the lab work while Bai Yi Yang will write the report as usual. This is a research that Sir Austin had wanted to do, he wanted to borrow Bai Yi Yang wisdom one more time and do this research, as agreed, Bai Yi Yang will become the main author this time, they will also include the lab assistant who need his name being included because he wanted to study further, and of course they will give credit to the school since they will be using the lab even though the budget will be provided by them three people.

"Yi Yang, can you ask for us? You are closer to Sir Austin." The girls said to Bai Yi Yang. Bai Yi Yang thought for a while and agree, it won't harm if she just ask right.

As promised, the next day, Bai Yi Yang ask this to Sir Austin, making Sir Austin smile brighten. He knows that Bai Yi Yang haven't decided to participate next year, worse case, he will have a hard time training a bunch of new members with Ruby An. However, writing the research paper may be a struggle for high school students, so he is depending on Bai Yi Yang now.

"If you want it, we can even send 2 teams." Sir Austin laugh lightly.

"That's not what I mean Sir. I am asking this in place of my classmates who is interested to join the team." Bai Yi Yang said.

"That will be hard to say. We have a lot of budget in the club now, but Yi Yang, making a research paper is not easy, it's because of your ideas and help from making the research objectives and questions that makes our work this time easy. If you don't participate next year, then I am not sure if we can even make it. Then, even if we send 10 people, they may only get disappointed." Sir Austin sigh, he glance at Bai Yi Yang, as if wanted to ask for pity.

Bai Yi Yang understand this, since last week, the team members have been spamming her, saying that they should start planning without waiting for next year, even Li Jian Yu and Wang Yi Lin support this. They keep hinting that Bai Yi Yang should join again next year for the other students benefit.

'I am not a saint.' That's what Bai Yi Yang replied to them. They will stop mentioning it for a while but yesterday during the interview, the reporter ask if the two of them will be participating again next year, only Ruby An answer enthusiastically when Bai Yi Yang totally ignore the question.

"Sir, we will be starting our project next month since I won't have many things to do now, but, I am not sure if I am free next year." Bai Yi Yang said with a sigh.

"That project will be done before Semester 1 next year started, next year you will be free." Sir Austin said.

"Let me think about it again." Bai Yi Yang said.

"Okay, you think about it. Later I will discuss with the club again about how we will choose the team members." Sir Austin said.

Their conversation ends there and Bai Yi Yang don't have a definite answer to say to her classmates, she can only tell them that she will tell the news when she know.

Wednesday come and Bai Yi Yang goes to her sports club as usual. She walk besides Yu Shi Sheng, the tallest girl in her class together with 2 more girls and 3 boys. There are 7 people from their class who is in the same sports club as her and all of them except her is in the school team. The volleyball team. Seems like, people from her class is quite amazing, they are very active in school activities on top of being good in studying.

There is actually a big reason for why she is in the volleyball club, the old Bai Yi Yang is extremely non athletic, she basically hates sports so much. But, when she was in the old school, she tried changing different sports club but she always have to participate in the club activities. She have been in Swimming club, Softball club and Badminton club and she was always required to participate. When she transferred, she randomly choose a sports club so she ends up in Volleyball club, seeing that she is petite and small when standing in the court with all the tall giants, the club coordinator will just told her to watch at the side, at most, she only need to pick up the balls while the rest of the club members is practicing. So, she is mostly ignored in the club and this is what Bai Yi Yang want, so this year she sign up in the same club again. It's just that, boys started paying attention to her this past months because she is too different now, it's like she suddenly got a glow up.

"I am lazy.." Bai Yi Yang said to Yu Shi Sheng.

"You can't be lazy. You must join the warming up at least." Yu Shi Sheng said, she is a righteous sport enthusiast.

"Yi Yang, I can cover for you. You just say that you are unwell, the teacher won't mind." One of the other girl suggest. Bai Yi Yang is too out of place in their club, she will just sit and watch them train, the teacher also don't dare to put her in the court since she is too petite when compared to the rest.

"Can I do that?" Bai Yi Yang eyes shine.

"You can't. Don't listen to her." Yu Shi Sheng said and reprimand the other girl who gave the suggestion.

"Shi Sheng, my work is difficult already, you know I need to take attendance then count the score right?" Bai Yi Yang said as she cling onto Yu Shi Sheng. Yu Shi Sheng is one of Bai Yi Yang closest buddy in the class, that's because when boys like to get close to Bai Yi Yang, Yu Shi Sheng will scare them away which Bai Yi Yang appreciate very much.

Bai Yi Yang got this task because she is the most idle in the club, the official club secretary hand it over to her. The secretary is also a male student who don't have the heart to watch Bai Yi Yang pick up volleyballs all the time

"Warm up is a must. No exception." Yu Shi Sheng knock on top of her head. She looks like a little sister standing next to Yu Shi Sheng.

"Oh, little beauty is here." Bai Yi Yang receive a greetings from the seniors. Bai Yi Yang greet back. Bai Yi Yang is quite popular especially now, mostly it was the seniors who like her. As for the one from same grade, she only knows her classmates and one or two Class 3 students because of Zhang Ming Ming. Today, even the coordinator says a few more kind words to Bai Yi Yang.

As usual, Bai Yi Yang start taking attendance by calling out the name. Since this is a sports club and they are at the volleyball court, some already start warming up, so Bai Yi Yang need to walk around to find the people. Some braver boys will tease her by pretending not to hear their name being called.

"Are you deaf?!" A shoe lands on the head of a boy from Class 2 of the same grade, it was Yu Shi Sheng who throw the shoe at him.

"Yu. Shi. Sheng!" The boy called angrily and throw the shoe back. He blush as the other laugh at him because of this.

"So you have ears? Next time use it. Yi Yang, come here." Yu Shi Sheng said. Bai Yi Yang quickly tick the name and went to Yu Shi Sheng area.

This boy is one of the people who like to tease her, but learning from what happened with Song Zheng Sheng before, Bai Yi Yang don't even dare to say hi back to boys who show little interest at her, what more received drinks from them. That's why she is thankful to Yu Shi Sheng for interfering most of the time.

Bai Yi Yang took her post to keep track of the mark when they start a training match. During training, they either have girls vs girls and boys vs boys or they mixed before dividing into 2 teams. Have to say, this sport is really a bit scary, they jump very high and their hand is strong too. Even with her strength now, Bai Yi Yang is not very confident if she can even compete with them, she is just physically not fit for this game.

Bai Yi Yang tidy up her stuff when Bai Yi Chen arrive with Tang Shi Rong, one of the member of the school's basketball team from Class 2.

"Little Bai." The good looking Tang Shi Rong call Bai Yi Yang with a grin. Tang Shi Rong has a dimple on his face, this make his just passable look to enter the good looking category.

"Stop calling her Little Bai." Bai Yi Chen elbow him. They are the same age but because Bai Yi Yang call him gege, his friends also saw Bai Yi Yang as someone younger.

"Ge. Wait for a while." Bai Yi Yang smile when she saw Bai Yi Chen. She quickly say goodbye to Yu Shi Sheng and the rest and then the coordinator too before running towards Bai Yi Chen.

The three of them head to the school gate, when Tang Shi Rong enter their school bus did Bai Yi Yang look at him again. She save the seat next to her for Zhang Ming Ming as usual while Bai Yi Chen and Tang Shi Rong sat at the row next to hers.

"Why are you using our bus?" Bai Yi Yang finally ask.

"I am going back with you two ah." Tang Shi Rong said teasingly with a smile as he answer. The girls sitting behind gave a few more glances at Tang Shi Rong.

One more charming point about Tang Shi Rong is his character, he is someone who love to smile and quite playful too. His character with Bai Yi Chen is quite different but he is the one closest to Bai Yi Chen too.

"Oh." Bai Yi Yang didn't fall to his teasing and look away after a short answer. This makes Tang Shi Rong become more enthusiastic, while chatting with Bai Yi Chen, he will include 'Little Bai' this and that. Bai Yi Yang don't mind it, Tang Shi Rong character is just like this.

About 10 minutes later, the bus finally leave the school. Along the way, Zhang Ming Ming chat with Tang Shi Rong like old friends, they have the same kind of energy and sense of humour so they click well.

Zhang Ming Ming character is too likeable. She can converse well with just anyone, that's why she is also quite popular. She have a lit of friends at school because of her personality.
