Telling the truth

Taking a sip from his coffee, Vincent wondered if he should call her or not, maybe she's a busy person, maybe still at work, he thought as he looked at the time on his hand watch.

Ding!

A notification sound from Vincent's phone, Pure Whiteness messaged him back.

Opening the message, a smile formed on Vincent's lips as he read the message.

[It's alright. Am I doing well? what about you?]

Vincent noticed that there was a development in her replies since yesterday, her replies became longer and she seems to be more comfortable texting than using voice calls.

From his experience, Vincent could tell that this was her first time talking to a guy and by her voice, he guess that she was in her twenties, he hoped that she wasn't underage because he wasn't interested in dating a minor, that's why he needs to know her age before things become more deep between them.

[Good. What are you doing right now?] Vincent asked.

[Knitting, you?]

"Hmm, Back to short replies." Vincent mumbled as he typed his replies.

[drinking coffee while taking a break from work.]

[What do you work?]

"Now you become interested, good." Vincent said as he typed on his phone.

[I own a company in Paris. What do you do for work.] This time it was he who asked.

_______

Back in Inesa's room.

Reading the message, Inesa realized that he only lives two hours by flight from her and seven hours by train, meaning they were not living too far from each other.

Inesa's family moved to Rodez, France when she was seven years old to find treatment for her condition as France was the best country for dermatology at the time but unfortunately, all the doctors told them that her condition cannot be treated.

After that, her family decided to live here and her father changed his business and started a new one here in Rodez.

[I don't have work.] Inesa replied.

She never thought about getting work or to be precise, she never needed to work thanks to her father's money. She owns many unused credit cards and a bank account under her name that her father left for her, but she never used or needed to.

[You can come and work in my company.] Vincent replied, joking.

Inesa laughed, thinking that was a joke but she forgot that he doesn't know who she is.

[I have enough money, I don't need to work :-). ] Inesa replied, adding a smiling emoji.

After thirty seconds of sending the message, Inesa's phone started vibrating. The night king was calling.

Before answering, Inesa ran towards the door of her room, locking it before she ran back towards the bed and picked up the phone to answer the call.

"Hello." Inesa replied, her voice seeming breathless.

"Hey, are you okay?" Vincent asked, hearing her laboring breathing.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I was just doing some workout." Inesa lied, surprised by how easily the lie rolled off her tongue.

She can't tell him that she locked the door because she doesn't want to be caught. He will think that she is a teenager.

"We can talk later if you still haven't finished?" Vincent suggested.

"No, I just finished." She replied, not wanting to end the call so soon.

_____________

Back at Vincent's office.

"Do you like to work out?" He asked, happy to find something they both liked, not knowing that she was lying.

"Yeah." Inesa replied."So what do you do after work?" She asked to change the subject because she hated lying.

"Sometimes I go straight home or maybe go to the bar with my friends or we go working out together, it depends on the mood." Vincent answered as he stood up from his sofa walking towards the desk.

He was using his AirPods so he could chat with her and do his work at the same time.

Suddenly Inesa felt sad. His life seemed a lot more fun than hers. He's busy with something all the time, unlike her who spends most of her day sleeping.

"What's wrong? You suddenly became quiet?" Vincent asked.

"Oh, it's nothing."Inesa replied laughing nervously.

Vincent sensed the change in her voice and he could tell that his recent reply was the reason, so he asked her.

"I have been wanting to ask you a question since yesterday, but I didn't know if it's the right time or not, So may I?" Vincent spoke politely giving her no chance to refuse.

"O-okay." Inesa replied feeling her face heat up, she didn't understand what happened to her but she liked the way he spoke to her right now.

"How old are you?" It was a simple question but it made Inesa feel uncomfortable.

A full minute passed before he heard her reply," Twenty-three."

Is he going to leave me because I'm you

Vincent sighed in relief knowing that she wasn't some wild teenager."I'm relieved, I thought that you were minor, and that made me worried." He said.

Feeling encouraged, Inesa decided to ask him too."Can I ask about your age too?"

"Of course, I'm thirty-five years old." Vincent answered, "Does the age difference bother you?" He added.

"To be honest, I don't know, I never dated before so I don't know if it's bothering me or not." Inesa replied with complete honesty.

________

Back at Vincent's office.

Vincent was in the process of reviewing one of the deals offered when he heard her answer and it made him stop what he was doing.

It's common to come across a girl who hasn't dated anyone these days, especially him. All the girls he knew had one or two ex-boyfriends.

"You never dated anyone before?" He asked, wanting to confirm.

"I know that it's something hard to believe but I'm truly telling the truth." She replied to his question.

Vincent didn't know why, but being her first made him feel good or rather happy.

"No, It's not hard to believe, everyone has a first at everything," Vincent said to her.

Unknowingly to him, His words made her a little bit happy.
