1 The day it smelled burnt flesh I

*Pant*

*Pant*

One, Two, Three, no it's five people chasing me three from the back 1 besides the end of the alley 1 in the roof.

"You left me no choice," I scoffed. While reaching for my service gun in my handbag, I dashed into the nearby dumpster. Shots were fired, killed 3 of my pursuers. They retaliated, attacked me with a hand grenade. Luckily, before the pin was removed I managed to shoot the man's arm. Explosive neutralized, Target eliminated.

He tried to run to the nearest building hoping to ambush me with what was left. "Oh no, you don't!" I yelled. Pulled the trigger, and shot the man's head. 'Incredible Ji-Won, you never cease to impress me,' I muttered to myself while running.

As I reached the rooftop, I looked up in the sky. What a remarkable night it is. A bullet grazed my left eye. I didn't notice a sniper was waiting for me to reach the top. Damn. Such an amateur mistake.

Is this how I die? Why does it smell like burnt flesh? Why? Why? Why?!

'Please, please, is there any God? Help me,' I prayed silently. Bathing in my warm blood I only have 30 seconds left before I die.

"Oi, oi, its Ji-Won! Our dear sunbae-nim," a man yelled at me.

I searched my surroundings, a man who's wearing a suit in black covered in blood. Juggling the gun with its trigger, a cigar on the left of his mouth, a blue necktie, it's him.

The world seemed to have stopped for a moment as I closed my eyes and drifted into my death. Black surroundings enveloped me, 'This is it? No afterlife?' Questions were raised on what was left of my sanity. I turned around, there's no one except for me.

"Be not afraid", a man murmured. A gist of chills stroke down my spine. I was sweating profusely. "Open your eyes, my child, for you cannot see the wonders of the world without the gift I have given you." The man stated. I opened my consciousness, I saw my body lying on the rooftop, I saw him staring at me, that bastard I will make sure to kill him.

I shifted my gaze to the man whose silhouette was light, the world seemed to stop. Time and even life froze except for the man and me.

"W-W-Who are you?" I said in confusion, with a trembling voice.

"My child you have called for me. I am the Creator of Life" the silhouette flickered in every word it said.

"You're just a grim reaper, I'm just hallucinating. Don't act cocky." I replied and sighed.

"Why do you not believe me? I am the Creator of your ancestors, I created your life, your mother's and grandmother's life. I breathe the life I have given you." The silhouette dimmed in response as if it was disheartened.

"Really? Then grant me a wish, return me to my body this instant. For I still have to kill that man who is staring at me" I replied with arrogance.

"Why? Why should I save you? You are Ji-Won, the Calamity, and the Reaper in the Flesh. You're better dead aren't I correct? Monsieur Faust?"

*Deep Breath*

I gasped for air and leaped out of my bed. 'Calm down Ji-Won it's only a dream' I murmured. Checking my body for wounds, I found nothing. It was a dream, no biggie.

I checked my watch only to realize I was late for my class. Running towards the bathroom, I hurriedly brushed my teeth, splashed water into my face. Well done Ji-Won. Grabbed my uniform and snatched an egg sandwich from the plate. "Need to go" I yelled to my father, adoptive father.

Cars filled the streets of the neighborhood, lush green leaves dancing with the wind, spring is here. S University is in sight, a gist of chills went down my spines. I need to be careful.

As soon as I entered the school, I noticed something different. The students looked gloomy, lethargic, and listless.

While pondering what was going on. I dashed to meet my lifeless friend Ahn Jae-Min "Yo, did you eat your breakfast? You look lifeless." I said. My friend replied with a sigh, "If only I was as genius as you, I won't need to study for the midterms."

AHN JAE-MIN'S

I looked around the grounds; everybody looks lifeless except for my carefree best friend. "Hey, let's go," I yelled at him. Dashing at our classroom, I noticed something different about him.

'Does he ever need to put the effort in everything he does?' I wondered in my head.

Class 3-3. Located at the nearest corner, I dashed with all my energy.

Someone patted my back. "Loser buys the lunch!" It was Ji-Won. Thrown off from his words, skillfully overtaking the crowd, I halted for a moment and reached my wallet. 200,000 KWR all my weekly allowance goes to the drain. '"I lost!" I yelled at him in the corridor.

How does he have such vitality and dexterity? Does he work out during his free time? I wonder.

Hours went by without me noticing it's already lunch. I searched the classroom looking for my friend only to discover he was asleep. "Hey, how's the exam Mr. Prodigy" I scoffed, waking him up. "Well for starters it was fairly easy, even 3 years-old can answer it." He replied. I whacked him in the head, half-asleep only to catch sight of him weeping. "I'm hungry Jae-Min." I gazed at him. "Lunch's on me, Remember? Idiot."

Clasping his collar I carried him to the cafeteria.

MOON JI-WON'S

Something seems familiar. I was scanning for something. Something feels off around this place.

It smelled like burnt flesh. The day my real parents died smelled like this.

No. They haven't come to assassinate me, aren't they? 'Calm down Ji-Won, if they want to kill you they won't do it here,' comforting myself. I sat with Jae-Min. "It smells soooo good~" Jae-Min expressed.

While Jae-Min was busy eating. I reached my bag, holding my service pistol ready to fire.

As soon as we finished eating, I headed to the bathroom to lure any possible pursuers. I heard footsteps, I was carefully observing in one of the cubicles. Footsteps stopped as it reached the door.

"Did you see the face of that idiot?" A student chattered. "Oh, you mean him? He was scared to death when I was talking to him. He pissed his pants." Another student arrogantly boasted.

Thankfully there's no need to be alarmed. It's only a bunched of your typical school gangsters.

Carefully releasing the door lock, I hurried outside. Thankfully those thugs didn't seem to notice me.

As time flew by a day had passed already.

"Ji-Won wanna stop at the nearby pc cafe?" Jae-Min asserted.

"I'm fine, just go without me I'm quite preoccupied already," raising my hands full of books. Instead, Jae-Min heaved me. Shoved his arms away from me I said, "Please? I don't wanna go I'm busy."

Jae-Min ran into his peers he wailed, "Next time alright? See'ya~"

I'm lucky I have such a good friend. 'TTTT'

Luckily I was fast enough to catch up on the bus.

Twilight hours are so gorgeous. The boulevards were crammed with busy cars. The fully lit cityscapes, I will never get tired of such a bustling, beautiful city.

Walking down the dark alleyway towards my home, I sighted a shooting star. I extend my arms and tried to reach it. I'm like an ant from the sky point-to-view. 'What if I can't reach my dreams? Will I always be reaching the impossible? Am I so insignificant?' I contemplated. Slowly withdrawing my arms, I clenched my fist. 'You can do it. The universe is indefinite, do what you want Ji-Won.' I said to myself.

I jumped, jumped, jumped even higher. 'Reach for the stars!' I shouted while rushing towards my home insight.

"Dad, I'm home!" I murmured.

'What a tiring day is it' I muttered in my head while unlocking the door to my room. I lowered my bag on the floor and leaped to my bed.

"I'm tired, I wanna sleep," I yelled to my dad. "Don't wake me up!"

***

"Ji-Won, Ji-Won! Wake up! Wake up!" A person waked me.

"What?" Huh? I can't talk? Where am I? Who is that person?

I surveyed my surroundings waiting for my vision to clear. The man I saw was my biological father.

'Wait what is?' Is this some kind of prognostication?

Suddenly a wave of terrible memories invaded me, it is better not to remember this.

'Faust, Faust, Faust, remember me? A faint voice was calling me.

'I'm not Faust, I'm not Faust!' I shouted from the bottom of my lungs.

'Come follow me, Ji-Won' the voice responded. Abruptly my surroundings were devoured in darkness; it was the moment I noticed I was falling. My disturbed mind was failing me. Instinct soon fired up, I spread my arms and legs slowing my descent. Math started pouring into my head.

My descent is roughly 290 km/h, within 10 seconds from my fall I have reached terminal velocity. If I spread my arms and legs I can manage my speed to 200 km/h. Nothing changes if I don't react now and will be most certain about my death. As I continued to descend I saw a beam of light striking from within.

*Gasp*

I leaped from my bed realizing it was only a dream. I chased my breath and tilted my head in turmoil only to notice 10 minutes had passed by.

What?!
