Chapter 6: Wall To Wall

Another night we decided to spend it in that apartment in a different manner, Rayn and Jennifer's room door was kept wide open with weights to not let it close anyhow, Dream was still out so Alessia put a mattress on the floor of the room. We were reluctant to leave Dream alone and I didn't want to leave Alessia alone after what just happened. A lot of nights we slept next to each other and there was nothing to think about too much. But a thought kept hitting my head. I longed for the college dorm, how crampy the place was, and regardless of that, I wished to go back. Alessia's eyes still looking into nothingness, I gently put my hand over her eyes. In our college days, she would sacrifice her precious sleep for novels that have no end. I tried to take books off of her, but she attacked like a cat, pretty sure hissed once. So, I did this… she removed my hand, her eyes gathering water. "I am scared." She mouthed the words without sound. I stretched my arm offering comfort. I never wanted to hold her any tighter than this, she melted in my comfort. I kissed her forehead; I knew she could see my heart so I didn't say anything. My lips soon found hers, I loved her, but not more than anything, more than I understood my own. The sorrow and the aches mellowed, as I kept her back in my arms. I promised to protect her and all she loves.

I woke up to a mild thumping sound, I slightly moved Alessia off my hand to check on Dream. But she was gone. I left to check on the room and bathroom, then moved on to her room which was still locked. I went ahead and woke up Alessia, and now both of us can hear the thumping, Rayn yells from the living room, "No Dream don't!". We rushed to the living room and discovered Dream banging her head against the wall over and over. Blood is gushing out of her head, and Rayn and Jennifer try to stop her somehow. Rayn tyning to hold her down but it was nearly impossible the strength she now possessed topped his.

Dream suddenly stopped and looked at us, her eyes rolling back in her head, we all gasped at the sight, it was not her anymore. Her mouth drooling, wide open, making shrill screams. She again attacked the wall, in the meanwhile, I jumped and stopped her from cracking her skull. Us both on the ground, somehow managing to keep her down, Rayn wastes no time tying her feet together, her voice changes as she screams at me "Kill them" however I was too determined, Jennifer tried to hold her hands but with a strong push, she was slammed against the the wall.

"Jenni" Rayn was distracted and let loose of her feet. She wrapped her hands around my neck, choking me with the intention of killing. Rayn abandons her feet and tries to remove her death grip over me. Struggling to break her off me, Alessia suddenly comes out of nowhere with her cross necklace. Putting it on Dream's head to the ground and holding on to her head. A devilish scream! And Dream lost her consciousness.

"I saw someone cut her ties off the bed!" Alessia looked around, there was a pair of scissors in the living room. Jennifer suddenly dizzies on her feet.

"I did" Jennifer, as shocked as we were to hear it, her hands shake as she looks at them, rationalizing the reason why she did such a thing. "I heard a voice in my dream, and I dreamt of cutting her ties off. Like it was not me! Someone's voice has control over me."

"What does this mean? Jenni is next?" Rayn riled up on Alessia.

"No, she was just a pawn, it could've been any one of us if it wanted but they just have Dream. That doesn't mean we can't turn against each other. We need to figure out what it wants and as soon as possible or there won't be anyone left to save." I could hear her but my mind scraped out, in a fraction I heard a voice clear, 'kill her to save your love'. I hopped off Dream, holding my ears down. "Andrew, what's wrong?" Alessia shakes me, then she again goes to attend to Dream binding her hands and feet. Out of nowhere, Rayn falls to the ground covering his ears.

"I hear voices, telling me to kill her."

"Yeah, I hear them too". Rayn shakes his head like he has bees buzzing in his ears. We both were fighting something we can't see. Jennifer rushes to Rayn holding his ears helping to keep his sanity. Alessia holds me down whispering in my ears something I can't hear. I thought I would go insane if it kept repeating to me. But after a good while of struggle, the voice toned down to nothing.

Alessia dressed Dream's wounds as Rayn and I tied her to the bed, Jennifer left the room sobbing in disbelief. A friend she never thought she would see ill, we were binding her to bed frame like some savage wild beast. At that time, she noticed something, Dream had scratched the walls. She summoned us to the living room, to put our minds together, Alessia agreed we all knew the answer just in fragments.

Alessia started with how she saw visions, and it all started from the day she saw the rat skull. She did some background checks on this land and all she could figure out was the old cemeteries near our place regardless of the presence of the cemetery. The land was never noted as haunted. She marked some events in time that did occur but doesn't make any sense to our particular apartment. Rayn explained the door and how he saw nobody opening it. Jennifer explained her instinct to come to the apartment more than she was exposed to us, and here she was for hours on without noticing time like she was under some spell. I explained the lights, the figure I saw, and the voices I thought coming from beyond the walls.

"Hold on, beyond the walls?" Alessia intervened judging her intellect I figured I was close to something. "Do you think it is next door or something like that…".

"No, no nothing is beyond these walls." I exclaimed, it finally fit, "I heard the voices muffled like they were stuck or echoed what was heard by all of us." I took a good look at the living room wall. "Get something to get this wallpaper off!" I commanded.

Everyone to their feet grabbing anything to scrape off the wallpaper, we all charged like maniacs digging for something underneath the surface and there it revealed itself. Underneath the wallpaper was the bare wall coated with demonic signs, and symbols, similar to what Dream did to her room but not as quite horrified to which we were standing.

"It's a portal, the walls are the portal," I said out loud.

"Yeah you were right, every inch of this place is a portal, and Dream is possessed to open, or to do some ritual …"

"No sacrifice, it has Dreams blood, it needs her soul, a sacrifice to open the hell on us, that's why me and Rayn heard the voices, that's why Jennifer cut her ties," I said to all of them, my voice quivering, my soul fear for its life but we know that it doesn't want us, yet.

"This can't be happening!" Jennifer breaks into Rayn's arms who was in equal shock, his mind can't contemplate the reasoning but he had nothing else to believe.

We stood there, every muscle in my body just told me to sprint off, but I couldn't. Suddenly the lights started to flicker when Dream let off a demonic scream. All our souls quacked, as the lights started to go out one after the other. Alessia and Jennifer screamed in terror, I collected Alessia to mine. We froze, praying to the Lord to save us from the walls of hell. The only light left was the central living room. All we could see was the swing of the light over us. My eyes stuck to the pentagram in the middle of the wall. I thought to myself this entire place is a giant hell, where demons run through from wall to wall.
