I ran toward the woods, but nobody was there. But that didn’t change the feeling that Queen Vivian had been the one racing through the air.

“What happened?” Stefan asked when he arrived seconds later.

I tilted my head toward Stefan and the others who followed me to the woods’ entrance. “She was here; I swear it.”

Raquel quirked an eyebrow. “What are you talking about, Maximillian?”

“Queen Vivian is alive,” I said.

Anastasia snorted at my comment. “That’s ridiculous. She drowned. You saw it for yourself.”

“But I never found her body,” I interrupted.

“Maximillian’s right. Look!” Stefan said, pointing at the sky.

The message—YOU MIGHT BE KING, BUT I’M STILL COMING FOR YOU, AND AM NOT GOING TO STOP TILL ONE OF US IS DEAD—was in red.

Creepy. Almost as if the message was written in blood. A gust of wind swooshed through the air, and the message disappeared.

“Would you guys mind giving me a moment to chat with Maximillian?” Katherine said.
