Crazy husband

The moonlight shone through the tiny parts of the velvet curtain and the wind danced gleefully with it, the balcony door shut suddenly with no passive effort.

The room lit up as the lights flickered on the beautiful chandelier. One could see a Queen-sized bed encompassed with a long vandel bedstand.

The room was empty with no one in there but a certain existence lurked in the corners of the room where the lights of the chandelier didn't reach. Carrissa knocked gently on the double door but received no response thus, she entered.

Her pale white neck turned and twisted to find a certain someone but finally, a beautiful smile adorned her already beautiful face as she realized that no one was there.

She had been in this palace for a few days now and had seen her husband a few times. Surprisingly he had never touched her making her surprised. She wondered if he was just using her as a decorative wife and had a mistress somewhere.

But she didn't care anyway, she was trying to find a way to dissolve the marriage. If he wanted they could go on a contract but she would get her freedom and wouldn't be chained by the status of being a Queen.

She took a few steps, stopped and looked around again, her senses made her aware that someone was watching her and that made her get goosebumps. Carefully, she managed to walk over to the balcony door, clearing her mind off that feeling she got. Ever since she got to the palace she felt this repelling feeling which told her she didn't belong here. She usually felt that the people of this mansion made her lose something special to her but she didn't know what.

She sighed.

She stood there with her hands on the railings, her icy blue eyes glimmering in the moonlight, and the crafty wind brushed back her long black hair.

Many thoughts and emotions passed through her at that time but she refused to showcase them to the world that she was in misery.

Her hatred for the night intensified and she wished that it was always daytime. Her mother died during the night, her marriage with the king was announced during the night and now here she was in the night with no one to share her pain.

Her sister taught her a hard lesson, that is; not to let anyone see what you're going through whether it's in positive or adverse form. She loved to keep to herself and loved defying the norms of society to keep herself busy and to scare off her suitors but it seemed like the King was not bothered about it.

She was pushed out of her train of thought by the foreboding feeling of doom which lingered behind her. Her hands gripped the railings tightly and upon looking back, her eyes fell into a pair of orange ones.

The same orange eyes which caged her here but now they were filled with something else. Something in the form of peace but that didn't stop him from staring at her like she was as insignificant as dust.

Upon turning to face him, she stumbled on something and fell into the arms of Auric. This was the second time this had happened and she wondered if her plotline was to lie in his arms forever. She took a closer look at his abnormal eyes and felt that they contained a puzzle that needed to be solved but she wasn't able to do that as she was back to standing by herself.

"Come in." An authoritative voice echoed in her ears, one that said don't defy me, you insignificant being.

She stood there without moving, seemingly wanting to defy his words. That look of his irked her to the bones. Who did he think he was? A mere king, that's who he was.

Auric turned when he heard no footsteps, he saw her turn towards the railing and was enjoying the scenery. He scoffed in disbelief. Did she defy him? It's been only a few days and she was defying him. What would she do in the next decade?

He told Odin to bring her to his side, not to make her his wife! What was he going to do to that hurdle of his?

"Didn't you hear what I said?" Auric's voice thundered in the room. He couldn't stand a lower being not doing what he wanted.

Mind you, he was not a mean bully who had the notion that he was superior to other beings, he cared about people but he cared in his own way.

"I heard you, I am not feeling sleepy," Carrissa responded with a voice which was neither cold nor warm.

"I never asked. I order..."

"You can't order me to do something I have no wish to do."

Carrissa turned once more and stared at Auric, he was handsome though but he had no brains. Did he think he could bully her?

The staring contest between the duo began, sparks firing out from their eyes.

"Don't defy me, if you dare..."

"What are you going to do?" Carrissa interrupted him one more time.

At this juncture, Auric was fuming, he couldn't believe that a mere human had the guts to stand and talk back at him without being intimidated.

He walked sauntered towards the door to the balcony, "This is my land, you follow my rules or you die but I can't kill you yet." He closed the door while Carrissa's eyes slowly widened in realization of what he was about to do. She ran towards the door but it was too late as the door was already locked.

Auric stared at her through the glass frame and he stared at her with no emotion before pulling the curtains over.

Carrissa had her mouth open in disbelief. She had heard about the King's ruthlessness and she had experienced it on the fifth day of coming to the palace.

Was he expecting her to spend the night in this cold weather? What kind of husband was he?!

Carrissa paced up and down on the long terrace. She was not worried about getting sick as the cold never bothered her.

What bothered her was the fact that she had a crazy husband who would lock his wife on the balcony for defying him

Was this even worth a punishment?
