New Member of the Justice League

If he couldn't merge the current apartment with the one next door into a super spacious unit, Russell wouldn't have been too concerned. His main worry now was what would happen after Kara moved in next door. 

Kara was a Kryptonian with super hearing, and Diana could sometimes be quite excited. Sighing in helplessness, Russell dialed his boss's number from behind his desk and contacted the current head of the Disaster Control Department.

While Tony might not necessarily need compensation, a proper attitude was still required. Whether Tony wanted it or not was Tony's business. But Russell couldn't refrain from compensating just because Tony was wealthy and didn't need it. Those were two different matters.

After informing the head of the Disaster Control Department, Russell hung up and turned on his computer to play Assassin's Creed.

According to the plan, tonight was supposed to be a candlelit dinner with Diana. However, looking at the current situation, that romantic dinner probably wouldn't happen.

After playing Assassin's Creed in the office for about half an hour, Russell changed back into his armor and flew back to the apartment.

Skytower. 28th floor.

Returning to the apartment, Russell didn't see Diana anywhere. Looking at the empty house, he furrowed his brows slightly. He then removed his armor and walked to the neighboring apartment.

As he had guessed, Diana was currently helping Kara set up her new home. They had already planned to merge the two apartments into a super spacious unit, so Russell had bought furniture according to his and Diana's preferences in advance and even arranged several rooms.

Seeing him arrive, Diana greeted him with a gentle smile. "We won't go out for dinner tonight. Kara just arrived today, so let's have dinner at home."

Seeing Diana and Kara, who had changed into casual clothes, Russell could only nod in agreement.

Next, at Diana's request, he joined in setting up Kara's new home. There wasn't much to arrange, just assembling some unassembled cabinets and tables, rearranging the placement, and finally arranging everyday items.

When everything was done, the three of them returned to Apartment 2801. Russell and Diana lived in 2801, while Kara was in 2802.

Back in the apartment, Diana went to the kitchen to prepare dinner, while Russell and Kara sat in the living room, sizing each other up.

With Kara having changed out of her somewhat revealing Supergirl suit, she now looked like a pretty young woman with no overt superhero presence.

As Russell examined Kara, who was now in casual clothes, she was also silently observing him.

Although Kara hadn't met Diana before, she had learned some things about her from Batman, Bruce Wayne. For instance, Diana was much older than her appearance suggested.

After scanning Russell seriously with her large hazel eyes, Kara finally broke the silence and asked him, "Are you an Earthling?"

Russell: "…"

This was something only an extraterrestrial like Kara would ask in this manner.

"I am an Earthling, through and through!"

Russell answered somewhat helplessly.

"Then what's that?"

Finishing her question, Kara gestured with her delicate white hands.

Although her gesture was a bit odd, Russell understood what she meant. Kara was referring to the white tendrils he had used to heal her.

"That's my superpower."

Russell didn't feel like explaining what a symbiote was. He simplified it into an answer.

He hadn't thoroughly explained symbiotes to Diana either, describing it only as a superpower he awakened.

He certainly wouldn't tell Kara something Diana herself wasn't told.

After hearing his response, Kara nodded thoughtfully. Then she said something that left Russell speechless.

"Your superpower looks a bit gross."

This wasn't the first time Russell had heard this assessment. Diana had initially thought the same as Kara.

However, that was all in the past. Diana now didn't find the tendrils of the symbiote disgusting at all.

"You're young, you don't understand, I don't blame you!" Russell silently remarked to himself.

He controlled his emotions and asked Kara, "Do you have any plans or aspirations for the future?"

"If not, I have a superhero team called the Justice League. If you're interested, you can consider joining."

"The Justice League?"

A puzzled expression appeared on Kara's delicate and fair face as she questioned Russell.

"Yes, the Justice League!"

Russell repeated.

Kara furrowed her attractive brows and said slowly, "Bruce also approached me before, saying he planned to form a team called the Justice League."

Oh…

After Kara's words, Russell remembered that Diana had decided on the name "Justice League" precisely because Bruce had once told her about his plan to form such a team.

"Diana decided on that name. Like you, she heard about the Justice League from Bruce."

Russell explained.

"So, how many members does your League have now?"

"Including me, three!"

"Just three?"

Perhaps because Kara was young or for some other reason, Russell always felt her emotional intelligence was a bit low.

"We're a bit short on members, but the current members are all great. There's also a girl one year older than you."

Although Kara wasn't initially on his list of potential Justice League members, since she was here in this world, Russell didn't mind inviting her to join.

It was better to have her within the Justice League rather than her acting as Supergirl or Superwoman on her own. As the saying goes, it's better to be safe than sorry...

Wait, that's not right!

It should be "A nearer neighbor is better than a distant cousin."

Though Russell hadn't figured out how to fulfill the activation conditions for the Kryptonian heritage, if there was even a slight chance, he wouldn't let the Kryptonian heritage reward slip by.

Kara didn't immediately respond to Russell. She thought in silence for about ten seconds before saying, "Anyway, I'll continue operating as a superhero in the future. Since you have a team, I'll join."

Kara gave a serious response.

"Great! Welcome aboard!"

Russell stood up and extended his right hand toward Kara.

Without hesitation, Kara stood up as well and shook his hand.

Supergirl, Kara, was now officially a member of the Justice League!
