Chapter 52 changing fate

David Martinez is the main protagonist of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. He became a mercenary and a member of Maine's edgerunner crew in 2076, when he was involved in a series of harrowing events that resulted in his death and attaining the status of a Night City legend.

David Martinez was born to an unknown man and his mother Gloria Martinez, who the latter raised him by herself.He was born in the back of an ambulance, as Gloria's water broke while re-attaching the arm of an edgerunner. David grew up on the streets of Santo Domingo, living out of an apartment of Megabuilding H4 in Arroyo. Due to his mother putting great effort into her job as an EMT for Night City health services, David was eligible for enrollment into the Arasaka Academy where he achieved top grades. 

Martinez grew up feeling he was destined for something big, and because of this, he was usually bored of the mundane life.

One night, David watched a new illegal braindance that Doc obtained from editor Jimmy Kurosaki. The braindance contained the death of the former New United States Armed Forces Lt. Col. James Norris, who went cyberpsycho a couple hours prior.

The following day, after finding his mother sleeping on the couch, the two talked about money problems regarding his school expenses and watched the news of Norris' death, which included David's mother carrying the body. He caught a glimpse of a young woman on his way to school, who disappeared when he attempted to approach her.

During that day's class, his outdated braindance wreath spiked his classmates wreaths due to David having Doc install a faulty software update to save money. This caused an outrage among the students, Katsuo Tanaka in particular, the son of Tanaka, a high Arasaka executive. After the incident, David and his mother met with the academy's principal, whom suggested that David could benefit from a change of environment, as he did not fit in with his wealthier classmates even if his grades were good. Gloria agreed to pay any monetary damages created.

While driving home, the two were discussing the recent events of his actions and how much Gloria cared about David's future. At that moment, they became bystanders of an Animals assault on an Arasaka corporate vehicle.

Trauma Team arrived shortly after, but ignored them for not being insured, and only took the corporate client with them. David managed to bring his mother to a back-alley clinic, where she became stabilized.

Unfortunately at the end she died, very tragic.

David received a call from the clinic that his mother had passed away and had to arrange a funeral for her. David, not being able to afford the other options, chose to cremate her remains at an automated service that would dispense the ashes in a metal canister.

After that David eventually leaves his apartment to visit Doc, where he demands him to have the Sandevistan implanted into his body. Doc initially dismisses David's request on grounds that David doesn't have the money nor the battle-hardened body to handle such military grade hardware. However, shortly after, Doc changes his mind and decides he will do it, but not before telling David if he'd come back to Doc crying to have it removed again because it will likely drive David crazy, Doc would get the Sandevistan from him for free.

Short story he walked the path of a edgerunner and died.

Right now I'm standing in front of their door, however I can't just go and say hi you and your mother are about to have a bad day and thing will go shit for you, they will definitely think I'm crazy.

I can proof myself to them but why bother when I can be more, I will wait for the accident and then save David mother, with that they should trust me a little.

I look around and see few people, I get out of those people sight and use stealth. Now I just need for David to leave for School.

It took five minutes but David finally came out of his house start walking.

David Martinez is an American teenager of Latino descent. He have light brown eyes and dark brown hair that he wear in a quaffed hairstyle, with the sides shaved. 

It's really something else seeing him in, well in real life, I follow David and see him past a lot of places, from the lower side and filth side of the city to the middle and upper side of the city which is clean and bright.

The lower side, well I call it lower side because I don't have a map, the lower side the city is not so bad, it have the vibe of the cyberpunks, it would be beautiful if there wasn't people masturbating without caring about anyone, David didn't show a hint of suprise when he saw them, it was very ordinary for him.

When he reached the middle class or the upper class side of the city he enter the train and I also followed him inside while still using stealth.

In the train David saw a young woman who disappeared when he attempted to approach her. 

I know her, she's Lucyna Kushinada. Lucy is a young woman with naturally white hair and red-purple eyes. She wears light red eye and lip makeup. Her hair is cut in a split bob - with her left side left longer - and dyed with a colorful pastel rainbow gradient. Her eyes appear to reflect with the colors of her hair. Her style generally follows Kitsch mixed with Neomilitarism as Lucy wears a cropped white jacket with a black netrunner leotard with red accents over a pair of white shorts and high gray stockings, and black knee-high boots. 

Lucy was born to Japanese 4th Corporate War veteran Takeshi Kushinada and Polish netrunner Shimmer in Warsaw, Poland.

She grew up in luxury and got the best education, living in a gated Arasaka community on the border of the city. When she was seven, Lucy hacked into her father's computer and learned about his actions in the war. This led to her rebelling, often running away from home, and spending more time on the Net.

The Net (also commonly referred to as Cyberspace) is the name given to the vast telecommunications network of the Cyberpunk universe. It is analogous to the real world Internet (which was still in its infancy at the time Cyberpunk 2020 came out), but much more extensive, including things like appliances and even cybernetic limbs. The Net is made of up of hard lines, radio links, cell networks, microwave transmitters and anything else that can transmit information from one computer to another.

After her father forced her to take a skills test at Arasaka, she was assigned alongside 12 other children to the corporation's netrunning outfit at an undisclosed Arasaka facility. Being led on by the dream of "serving the world's most powerful megacorp" one day got her and the others through the toughest days and training.

Anyway at the end the children run but only she survived,After escaping, Lucy woke up in a junkyard, not planning to stay long.She eventually moved to New United States, traveling through the states until she ended up in Night City. Deciding there was no place on Earth safe enough for her, she began doing petty thefts to raise enough funds to move to Luna(the moon).

In 2075, Lucy met Kiwi, who mentored her and introduced her to Maine and his edgerunner crew. She later became the secondary netrunner of the crew.

In 2076, while stealing shards from corpos on their way to Corpo Plaza by NCART, she attempted to steal shards held by a teenager named David Martinez. He, having noticed her presence beforehand, utilized his Sandevistan implant, and was able to intercept her actions and grasped her by her arm. 

Sandevistan is a temporary status effect that can be activated on demand. It is designed to be primarily used with bladed melee weapons.

By default, Sandevistan will slow down time to a certain percentage for a set duration. Some variants may increase Crit Chance and Crit Damage. Modifications allow the user to enhance Sandevistan to increase duration, decrease cooldown, and other useful benefits.

Anyway short story after some rocky roads, David and Lucy fall in love and at the end David sacrificed his live and help Lucy run and save her lives, at the end she successfully went to Luna, and lived there. This is the cyberpunk edgerunner series end, the ending was so sad.Well not anymore since I'm here,.

After reaching his destination David come out of the train and walk toward his School. He enter the school and I follow him, the technology here couldn't catch me with stealth.

I could see David is being bullied, they make fun of him for being poor and all, of course David is not someone who bow to them.

The class begins and like in the original David his outdated braindance wreath spiked his classmates wreaths due to David having Doc install a faulty software update to save money.

They call his mother and they went to the academy's principal but I didn't follow them, I go above the head of the three idiots who bullied David, if you can call it that but later they make fun of his death mother and say that she was a prostitute and beat David, of course later David beath them but I can already see what kind of person they will become and sure they might chane later but I was never so much of a good guy.

I'm going to kill them, now you might think this is personal and I have been bullied before but you will be wrong. I never even saw a bully in my life, sure I sometimes had some problems with my classmates but in the end nothing to serious and later we would made up or forgiven eachother.

Honestly I sometimes think that bullying is just a thing in the movies and stories but I think they are real and this makes me wonder, how can those people be so idiotic?

If a person can't do anything in the school and or beat them in a fight, the one who Is been bullied can play dirty, hit them behind when they are alone or something like this, are they so brave to buy the anger of a human?

Anyway I was going to put a death curse on them but a blue screen appears in front of me. It's seem I have a new mission.

Kill 1000 person.(Animals doesn't count)

Punishment for Failing: you will not get the great reward

If you accept this mission you will not the gain any experience points and you will not be able to level up unless you give up on the mission.

Fucking 1000 person, what the hell? This just so much I would say yes if it was 100 person but 1000 person, do I even have the mentally to kill 1000 person? Well yes because I have the gamer mind but still.

Should I accept it?

The reward for the mission is hidden, fucking classic, and the punishment for Failing so not getting the reward. This system knows how to tempt me.

Okay let's think about this logically, I don't want to kill anyone innocent but here's the thing, there is probably 6000000 or 7000000 person in the night city so I think there should be more than 1000 criminal in the night city that I wouldn't have a problem to kill.

After a little of thinking I decided to accept the mission, if I couldn't complete the mission I would just give up, anyway it wouldn't hurt to try.

After accepting the mission, I look at the three idiots and put death curse on the three of them. They tremble a little when I place the curse on them.

After that I wait outside and after five minutes David and his mother get out of the school and they enter their car and Gloria is the one who drives the car and David seat at her right side, Gloria start the car and drive toward their home.

I followed them using the flight magic, fortunately stealth level is already high enough to not get cancelled when I active a non attack skill.

While driving home, the two were discussing the recent events of David actions and how much Gloria cared about his future school this continue until I noticed the approach of the Animals gang vehicle, they drive like a crazy person.

I saw that at this moment, David and his mother became bystanders of an Animals assault on an Arasaka corporate vehicle, I saw that they crashed into the vehicle after it was blown up by a rocket that animals used to attack the arasaka vehicle.

(3rd person pov)

David saw his mother lying motionless on the road after regaining consciousness.

Trauma Team arrived shortly after, but ignored them for not being insured, and only took the corporate client with them.

David begun shouting and asking and begging someone, anyone to help his mother but no one cared, so he begun insulting to those people, how could they abandon his mother to just die like that? Are they even humans? He begun struggling to get himself free and go to help his mother himself.

Everything went like it should go Gloria and David fate was decided but suddenly David saw a person appearing out of nowhere.

He couldn't see that person because he was in the upside down car and he could only see the legs and the black cane of that person.

That person start walking towards his mother, the sound of cane hitting the ground echoes across the flaming road.

With each step that person got closer to his mother more, David recovered from his shock and start asking for help, and soon he receive an answer.

"Hahahahahahahahahaha"that person start laughing

David was shocked but soon he got very angry but before he could say anything he saw that person kneel beside his mother and point his hand toward her and then he saw a little bright light.

He looks at her mother and saw that she start breathing normally and she seems to be just sleeping and the wound on her is almost healed so there wasn't so much bleeding anymore.

David was more than suprised, with that man kneeling David saw the clothes his wearing, he looks like a person from the Victoria era, but he still didn't saw the man face.

The man stand up and past his mother and walk toward him!!

The man stop in front the upside down car and kneel and bent his head and because of that, David was finally able to see that person face.

His face was painted in colorful pastels!! A Clown!!

David looked at the clown in a daze. All he saw was a wide smile plastered over the pastel face. It was a happy smile, an exaggerated smile, a ridiculous smile.

Sorry for too much info but not everybody have seen the cyberpunk: edgerunners so I needed to give them some info.

I know this chapter was mostly information and I'm sorry, I didn't like that so much.

I chose to use the clown persona because Edward already seen the Klein morettie memories and it's a good choice for him to hide his face at first, later he will show his true face.

Do you guys have any suggestions?I like to hear your ideas
