Monotonous Life

"What kind of life I am living? Am I happy? Was this I always wished for?" The thoughts of Urvi were monotonous too. The rising sun was not bright for her. Nights were murky too. Urvi wasn't able to figure out her situation. She had a job in the city, an apartment she owned, a few close friends to talk to. What else did she need? A boyfriend? She never loved anyone ever since that accident. Why did she end up like a loser? Every day, whenever she went to sleep, her thoughts followed her there. Urvi found herself in misery after her mom's demise. The day when two people whom she loved more than anything, left her alone. Her mom travelled to Heaven. The other person was Sam, the person she cherished and loved the most. Sam disappeared in thin air. Since then, she never heard from Sam. Past 3 years, she had nightmares of Sam vanishing in front of her eyes. Occasionally, she dreamt of him leaving her alone in the rain. Her mind was never at ease since that day. The grief of her mom's demise and the sudden disappearance of Sam made her miserable.

Urvi wakes up at 7 a.m., leaves for the office at 8 a.m. Comes back at 6 p.m. She often skips Lunch and keeps her distance from most of the people in her department. She cooks her dinner by 8 p.m. and does leftover office assignments and go to bed by 11 p.m. She spends hours imagining the life she would have if her mom and Sam were there. She often wakes up because of nightmares. She has been living the same life for 3 years.

One day, Urvi saw Sam sitting under a tree nearby her maternal house. It was dark. Urvi was taking small steps towards the tree trying to see the face of Sam. She got closer to him and saw him in tears. Sam was apologising for leaving her alone. Urvi hugged him tightly. Her heart was about to explode. She held him tight to never let him go. Her eyes were gleaming with joy. She never felt so happy. Sam was surprised by Urvi's behaviour.

"Why is she not asking me anything? Why is she acting weird?" Sam's thoughts made him anxious.

Suddenly, Urvi heard a sound. What is it? Did someone break the window glass? Urvi opened her eyes. " It was a dream?" Urvi was drenched in sweat. It took a minute to realise that it was another dream.

It was the weekend and as usual, Urvi had nothing to do. Ever since that dream, Urvi was feeling troubled. She decided to visit her maternal house. Nobody lived there. Once in a while, Urvi went there and spruced it up a bit. In her heart, Urvi wished that dream to come true. On her way to mom's place, she picked up a bunch of flowers to replace them in the vase her mom treasured. She bought yellow tulips. Yellow tulips signify hope and cheerful thoughts. She wanted to try everything to make that dream real. She reached the house, tidied it up a little and sat under the tree in the yard. She wished Sam to come back. She was waiting for him desperately. Urvi's eyes were full of tears. Someone was moving towards her but Urvi was unable to see him with teary eyes. She rubbed her eyes with the hope that it was him.

Was it the end of her monotonous life? Or there's a monster waiting on the other side?
