The commander and Alix's gaze followed Henry's retreating form.
"As expected?" Alix questioned the commander, still trying to grasp Henry's relationship with the princess.
"As expected," Callum readily agreed.
They finished pulling gear off of the horses and found their spots at the forest's edge.
Especially with the risk of rain, it was decided that they would go on foot at least first. The risk of their horses being attacked by a kelpie in the rain was too high. It would be plenty to handle with puddles the monster could go into.
Henry knew that there were eyes watching him as he stalked forward but he held his head high and kept going. This was a sight the people were going to have to get used to, a peasant approaching the princess whenever he had an opportunity.
