Chapter 51 : Learning To Cook In Magical Ways ( part 2 )

Soon, the materials arrived. Wang Qian quickly opened the door as the servant outside quickly brought it in and placed it in the kitchen. After they left, Wang Qian and Bai Lian then went to the kitchen. Shi Yan then asked

"Do any of you know possess affinity with flame magic?"

Bai Lian then raised her hand slightly. Shi Yan then nodded his head before asking Wang Qian.

"What affinity do you possess then?"

"Dark and Holy magic. But I can condense a flame from my own mana."

"Ooh, does the flame possess the characteristics dark and holy magic have?"

"No, but it should have it's own characteristics like being pure energy."

"That's good enough. Now, have you guys tried making a dish before?"

Bai Lian put her hand down as Wang Qian raised his.

"What did you make?"

"A normal rice with meat and vegetables..."

"....well I'm going to teach you on how to make a normal dish. Let's start with making a chicken."

Shi Yan then grabbed a chicken in its original form from the pile of materials as he hold it up and showed them.

"Do you guys know how to deal with this?" he asked. Wang Qian and Bai Lian shook their heads

"Well, there's two ways. We cut it into pieces or just cook it like that. Which one would you prefer to learn?"

"The second one."

"Good. Now take one of these chickens. I'll teach you the first step." Shi Yan said as he demonstrated the steps. The steps were all the same as our worlds. Soon it reached the part where they are supposed to cook it.

"Now, have you guys wondered why I asked for your affinities?" Shi Yan asked. Wang Qian and Bai Lian pondered for a while before Bai Lian gave her guess.

"Is it because we're going to use fire made from magic to cook the dishes?"

"Correct. A long time ago, a great mage who also possessed great talent in cooking found out that each magic has it's own characteristics. So, he continue to delve into this field of knowledge as he realize that each magic will leave some clue behind after use. He then used this knowledge as he tried to applied it to the field of cooking. "

"Surprisingly, the two merged perfectly, and the taste increased by a lot. He later on found out that people who eat the dishes cooked by the flame from the magic they have affinity with, their mana recovery speed will increase for a certain period of time. There's also other effects but I'll tell you guys later on. For now, condense a fire about the size of your fist."

Wang Qian and Bai Lian did as he said. Two fire then appeared as they were condensed. Wang Qian's was black, similar to the knife he condensed at the start, just darker. It was probably because his constitution further awakened, causing his mana to become even denser and stronger. 

Bai Lian's fire was yellow-orange like a normal flame is, but there seems to be some white light flashing from time to time in it. This was probably similar to Wang Qian's situation, affected by their constitution.

"Good, now try increase the temperature of the flame." Shi Yan said again. This time, the two were unable to do anything as they didn't know what to do. Seeing this, Shi Yan demonstrated the process himself. He condensed his own flame, the color was yellow-orange like Bai Lian's but instead of white light in the inside, he had green light surrounding the flame. 

"I have affinity with flame and wind magic, thus my fire's color. Now, to increase the temperature of your fire you'll need to compress it. The more you compressed it, the more hotter the fire is. Just like this."

Just as Shi Yan finished talking, the flame condensed by him started becoming smaller as the green light surrounding it spin around it faster. Soon, the temperature in the kitchen increased. Wang Qian and Bai Lian then tried to copy what he did.

After a few tries, they finally succeeded. Wang Qian's fire became more darker as it became hotter while letting of cold air, which was a little weird. Bai Lian's fire also became smaller as the white light became more obvious.

'This skill could be useful if the royal palace comes and attack me and Bai Lian again' Wang Qian thought. Shi Yan nodded as he said.

"Now that you guys have increased the temperature of your fire, it's time to start cooking. Grab a pan and place the chicken on it. Then use your fire to start cooking it."

They started doing as he said. The following process is just the same as our worlds. Soon, they finished cooking their chicken as Shi Yan started checking their products. Wang Qian's chicken was gave off a fragrant smell that made people wanted to smell it more after smelling it once, but each time they smell it, they seem to lose consciousness for a few seconds. 

Bai Lian's chicken on the other hand, didn't give off any fragrant smell. It only have a smooth surface that seems to reflect light. People who look onto it can faintly see a full moon for some reason. Shi Yan then said

"Congratulations, you both have successfully made your first chicken cooked by magic."

"Yay, we did it papa! We did it!" Bai Lian said happily

"Yup, we did. I wonder how it tastes though.."

"Well, you can have a bite on it right now. You two should feel slightly tired after using so much mana, I'll take my leave first. I hope I'll get to teach you again tomorrow." Shi Yan said before leaving. Wang Qian then brought the two chickens onto the table at the living room. They sat down on the floor as they started digging in.

"Mhmm, it's juicy and tasty." Bai Lian commented

"Yours seem to be able to increase mana recovery speed. Let me check my one." Wang Qian said. He cut off a small piece of it and place it in his mouth. The next second, his view turn all black as the world seem to be destroyed. He turned around and saw that Bai Lian who was supposed to be next to him wasn't there

"Bai Lian! Bai Lian! Where are you?" he shouted. But before he can look further, his view returned back to normal. He then felt that his mana recovery speed seem to increase a little, and it doesn't feel like it's temporary.

'What was that? Was it something like an oracle? Also, it seems to awakened my constitution a little. Let me try it again.' he thought, He then took another piece as he placed it into his mouth. The same thing happen again as he appeared back into the black world where there was nothing to be seen.

He looked around and saw that there was lots of bodies that were clad in armor. They gave off a familiar feeling to Wang Qian, but before he could further study it he was brought back to reality. This time, he could feel that his constitution awakened a bit, much more than last time.

"So, what's the special effect of this chicken, papa?" Bai Lian asked after seeing that he didn't give a reply.

"It seems, to help a person awakened their constitution. Do you want to try one?"

"Okay"

Bai Lian grabbed a small piece as she placed it in her mouth. The next second, she felt that her mana capacity increased by a little, but she couldn't sense that her constitution got stronger.

"My mana capacity increased, but nothing happen to my constitution. What's going on, papa?"

"I... don't know. But it should be safe to eat it. Let's just quickly finish it and take a nap. We have to go meet the other believers at the night after all."

"Okay."

They quickly finished their meals as they left the plates on the kitchen. They took a small nap before waking back up at the evening. The sun had started to set, Wang Qian woke Bai Lian up and asked her to take a bath. 

During her session, the servant that was tasked with bringing their meals knocked on their door. Wang Qian opened the door for him. The servant quickly placed the dishes and left quickly too, just like the wind. 

After both of them took their bath, they sat together on the floor as they started eating their dinner..
