Chapter 43 : The Battle ( part 1 )

As the royal palace's army was getting closer, the people on Wang Qian's side was getting even more nervous. It was then that Wang Qian gave his order.

"Shoot now!"

The mages immediately react to his order as they shot their biggest spell to the enemy. There was a giant flame ball like Bai Lian's, a giant tornado that was sent to the front of the enemies army, and many more kinds of spells. 

When the spells hit the royal palace's army, multiple of them died in a single second while it is still increasing, culling the numbers from 100 000 to 93 574. It was then that Wang Qian gave his second order. 

"People that are skilled in close combat, get ready. You'll rush in the moment I said so, and when you do, protect yourself so as not to get killed. If any of you are injured badly, try to run to Bai Lian, she will heal your injuries. Am I clear?"

"Understood!"

Wang Qian then took a deep breath as he gathered the mana in his body.

'It's time. Let's see how useful this skill is.'

The next second, his mana is released as they entered the bodies of the dead, possessing them. The possessed bodies turn black and green in an instant as they stood back up, turning into a zombie like monster. Wang Qian then commanded them to attack the enemy. He turned to his shocked believers, and said

"NOW!"

They quickly came back to their senses as they started rushing in to the battle field. They knew that the zombies are their allies for now, so they worked together with them to kill the enemy. As more and more of the enemies died, the number on their side kept on increasing at a steady pace, but so as Wang Qian's mana consumption speed. 

He quickly sat down and meditated to recover his mana, and left Hua Yue to command the battle. Hua Yue immediately knew what he was doing as she commanded

"Mages who have recovered their mana, prepare your spells again. This time, I want the ones that can be continuously used." 

The mages then got back up, as they started shooting their spells again. But this time, the size was a lot smaller compared to just now, with most of them being arrows or the normal ball in magic. Just then, a loud boom was heard.

Hua Yue turned around only to see that a man on a horse was fighting against a group of their people. It seems like he was suppressing them despite having lesser number than them. Seeing this Butler Chen dashed in to assist them. 

Although Butler Chen was old, he still had a high combat ability. He was said to be a genius in swordsmanship when he was young. He held his sword in his hand as he swinged towards the man on the horse after getting close to him.

The man immediately felt danger as he quickly dodged to the left, but Butler Chen seems to have know that he will do so, as the direction of the sword changed, facing the heart of the man and stabbed in. The man quickly lost all vitality as Wang Qian's mana possessed him, turning him to one of their people.

The group which was suppressed just now bowed their heads to Butler Chen before leaving to continue attacking the enemy. Seeing this, Butler Chen went back to the base to assist Hua Yue in case she needs it.

Wang Qian, who was meditating to recover his mana, decided to stop doing so as his recover speed has finally been surpassed by the consumption speed, about a tenth of his strength every 20 minutes.

He got up and walked to Bai Lian, then patted her.

"Don't worry, we'll definitely win." he said

"mhmm, do I need to do anything?" 

"Well, you can condense the giant [ Water Ball ] you did last time, or try to condense a giant [ Flame Ball ] and shoot it towards the camp of the enemy."

"Okay, but can you protect me while I do so, papa? I need to concentrate while doing so."

"No problem. Just do what you can do."

Bai Lian then quickly closed her eyes as she raised both of her hands up. Seeing this, Wang Qian quietly protected her from the side. He then tried to recover a bit of his mana while protecting her. Just like that, the two are now unable to do anything until Bai Lian is ready.

As Hua Yue was commanding, she realized that from time to time a few strong warriors will appear and suppress their people, and Butler Chen had to dash in to kill them. She quickly wondered why did they do so.

'Why can't they just send all of them at once? It's as if they're trying to do prepare for something. Preparing... Oh no! I need to tell my lord quickly!'

"Mages, prepare your biggest spell as quick as you can. Release it as soon as you're ready and repeat it again." She commanded before contacting Wang Qian.

'My lord, are you there? I have some bad news'

'What is it?'

'The enemies seem to be trying to hold our people off to prepare a giant spell. I've already ordered our people to prepare their spells to be fired towards them.'

'That's not good, continue to ask them firing the spells, and tell the people that are close combating the enemies to become more wary. I'll stop possessing the weak ones and only focus on the stronger ones.'

'Understood. Is there something else we need to do?'

'Tell them to get ready to retreat the moment I give the order.'

'I will relay my lord's order now'

She then took out the communication orb as she contacted everyone she know about Wang Qian's words and asked them to tell the others. They quickly got news as they became more wary to their surroundings.

Soon, lots of the zombies quickly fell down as they turned back to the normal color. The mana in them disappeared into the air, as Wang Qian's mana appeared again and possessed some of the ones that just died.

After releasing the weaker zombies, the mana consumption lowered a lot to the point that his mana is slowly recovering. Just then, Bai Lian opened her eyes and said.

"It's ready, but I can't hold it for long, Papa. Only around 10 minutes."

"Good job, Bai Lian. I'll contact Hua Yue now"

'Hua Yue, ask them to retreat. Bai Lian will be using her spells now.'

'Understood, my lord. It'll take around 5 minutes for all of them to retreat, can Princess Bai hold on that long?'

'She can. Now quickly ask them to retreat'

He then turned his head to the battle field, waiting for the report from Hua Yue.

As soon as the order was relayed, all of them quickly ran back to the base so as not to get affected by the impact of Bai Lian's spells. Those who couldn't run where carried by others. After checking that their people has come back, she contacted Wang Qian.

'My lord, all of them has come back. We currently have no deaths yet, with only a few having some injuries'

'That's good. Tell the injured ones to stay at the base first while the others who aren't to get ready to enter back in.'

'Understood'

He then nodded to Bai Lian, signaling that she can release her spells now. Bai Lian immediately released the spells after getting the signal, as water and fire balls started to appear on the air. Both of them quickly became bigger every moment passed, before reaching the size of house. The giant version of [ Water Ball ] and [ Flame Ball ] was then shot towards the camp of the royal palace.

The next second, a giant shockwave came over to them. They then saw that all of the soldiers were lying on the ground. The only ones standing were the zombies and a group of mages who was protected by a barrier. 

Hua Yue then gave the command for them to enter back in to destroy the barrier. They shouted in excitement as they rushed back in. Under the constant attacks of the zombies and those people who are skilled in close combat, the barrier quickly broke and the mages inside was slain in an instant.

All of them shouted as they celebrated their victory. Just as they were about to let their guards down. Wang Qian suddenly shouted.

"It has not ended yet!"

All of them, including Bai Lian who was a bit tired after using a huge amount of mana, looked towards Wang Qian.

"I think... they might have reinforcements on the way!" he shouted again.

While saying all of that, he was looking at the side quest given.
