Chapter 30 : The System's Message

On a normal morning, Wang Qian opened his eyes early in the morning as usual. He then turned to his left, looking at Bai Lian who was sleeping soundly, free from any worries. Seeing this, he couldn't hold himself as he patted her head softly.

It was then that Bai Lian woke up from his touch, she looked at him with her half-awake eyes as she said

"Good morning" 

"Good morning, did you sleep well?" Wang Qian asked 

"mhmm" 

"Well, it's time to wake up now, we've got work to do after all."

"Okay."

Bai Lian then got up and grabbed her towel as she headed towards the bathroom. When she got out, she was wearing the blue dress that she first wore among all the three dresses. Wang Qian smiled at her before entering the bathroom. Just before he closed the door, out of worry, he reminded Bai Lian

"Bai Lian, remember not to open the door unless I'm there with you. Don't go out on your own too." he said.

"Okay papa!" Bai Lian replied

Hearing her words, he felt less worried and started to ponder another thing. 

'She called me 'papa' since yesterday after she got kidnapped by those scums. She must have been really scared. Then does that mean she finally recognizes me as her dad?' he thought

'Why should I worry about minor things like that? I'll just let fate decide what's going to happen next. I should also teach Bai Lian how to defend herself against those kind of scums'

Wang Qian was already thinking of plans for the day, wanting to make full use of a day's time to it's peak...

After finishing their breakfast, they headed towards the adventurers guild as they search for a suitable mission to take. They then decided to pick a familiar C-rank mission, which was to kill a few pack of wolves in the forest that appeared near the edge of the inner area. They brought the poster to the reception counter to claim the mission. They then took back the poster as they started to head towards the city's entrance and continued towards the forest

On the way, Wang Qian said to Bai Lian

"Today, I'm going to teach you how to defend yourself against those kind of people if you ever meet them again. So, make sure you listen properly to what I say."

"Okay" 

It didn't take them long to reach near the edge of the inner area of the forest with Wang Qian's speed. He then put Bai Lian, who was on his shoulder, on to the ground. He then bent down in front of her as he said

"Later on, I'll leave a pack of wolves for you. Then you'll use your magic to kill the wolves."

"But what if the wolves reaches me before I can use my magic on them?" she asked worriedly

"At that time, I'll appear in front of you and kill it." he said.

"Okay then, I'll do my best." Bai Lian said 

They then looked for the wolves and found them at a spot not far from them. The wolves were surrounding a dead body of a deer. It was the same species of the deer that Wang Qian met at the waterfall when he first got out of the the seal.

He then turned to Bai Lian. After making sure she was ready, he dashed out of the bushes and condensed a sword before swinging it towards the pack of wolves. His one swing managed to caught multiple wolves off guard as they died under his sword. 

Wang Qian continued to kill more before leaving 7 for Bai Lian's training purpose. To let Bai Lian deal with them easier, he used [ Dark Curse ] on all of the remaining wolves, making them feel weak all of a sudden.

"Bai Lian! Try to finish this pack of wolves off on your own. I'll help you if you need me, so do you best!" he shouted

"Okay!" she replied 

Bai Lian got out from the bushes and tried to summon multiple [ Flame Ball ]. Unexpectedly, she managed to do it in her first try, but the balls size was smaller than the first one she made when they destroyed the buildings. 

She fired the 5 smaller version of [ Flame Ball ] to the wolves that were in front of her. It managed to land on 3 wolves, as the other two managed to dodge in time. The wolves who got hit started burning as they run around in pain, hitting the other wolves in the process. Soon, all the wolves got on fire as they burned slowly to death. To prevent the fire from spreading all around the forest, Bai Lian then used [ Water Ball ] on the burning bodies of the wolves and other spots. 

"Mhmm, that should be good. But you will also need to learn to not panic, else this will be useless even if your magic got better. Understand?" Wang Qian said

"mhmm."

"Good. Now, let's go back and buy that dessert. You can have 2 strawberry flavored since you killed 7 wolves on your own." he said as he patted her head

"Yay!" she said as she raised her right arm and celebrated

Wang Qian then took out his guild card and gave Bai Lian hers. They then put the burnt bodies inside the storage space. Wang Qian also decided to put the deer in as it could give them extra money when they sell it to the butcherer.

After finishing that, they went back to the guild and handed over the poster and their guild cards for the staff to check. The staff then gave the cards and their rewards to them after confirming that they killed the pack of wolves in the forest. The daily quest that was given by the system was also completed after receiving the cards back. 

They then got out of the building and went to meet the the butcherer.

"Hey man, do you buy burnt monsters?" Wang Qian asked

"Take it out and let me see." the butcherer said

Wang Qian took the burnt body of the wolf for the butcherer to inspect.

"If it's like this, then I can at most give 3 copper quins for one."

"That'll work. Then how much for this deer?" Wang Qian asked as he took out the deer with crystal antlers.

"mhmm, this deer should be quite young for its antlers to be this clear. I'll give you 3 silver quins for it." 

"Deal, here's the other bodies of the wolves."

In the end, Wang Qian got 30 silver quins. They then left the place as Wang Qian brought Bai Lian to the roadside store to buy 2 strawberry flavored ice cream like dessert. Just as he passed the two dessert to Bai Lian, the system sent him a message that made his heart shook.

'Just what is this? A new plot? Blessing? Moreover, the system corroded the plot?' Wang Qian mind was spinning fast as he tried to understand the system message...
