Chapter 27 : The Meeting With The Believers And Its Cult

After returning to the inn, Wang Qian and Bai Lian continue to read the book together. They focused on the parts where they think is important. Due to them only being able to borrow the book for a week, Wang Qian decided to buy some papers and pen on the way home, and now the two are reading while copying the text from the book onto the paper. They focused on copying the texts about water, flame, light, healing, dark and holy magic. It took them around 4-5 hours before copying all of them. Bai Lian felt tired after all that writing and wanted to sleep, so she directly placed her head on Wang Qian's lap. Seeing this, he smiled and patted her head. While doing so, he summoned his status.

Time passed quickly as Wang Qian focused on reading the description about the 2 magic. After understanding the basis about it, he started learning the first basic spell of the 2 magics ,which was, [ Dark Curse ] and [ Holy Cure ]

[ Dark Curse ]'s effect was to weaken the target for a period of time. It can be used on multiple people at the same time. The effect of the spell depends on the difference in mana between the caster and the target. It's basically a debuff that cost a little mana. [ Holy Cure ] on the other hand, was to free a person from a curse. Of course, it can't rid every curse, it can at most cure low level curses. It also has an effect of increasing a person's strength for a period of time. Unlike [ Dark Curse ] the effect will not be affected by the difference in mana between the caster and the target, it will always increase the target's strength by 30%. The cost for doing so is the speed of mana being used will be very fast. 

Before he knew, the sky has already start to turn dark. It was also at this time that Bai Lian woke up from her sleep.

"Good morning or evening, did you sleep well?" he asked her

"mhmm" she replied with the usual 'mhmm' that can be used without any restriction.

"It's almost about time we eat dinner. You go shower first, I'll continue to read the notes first."

"Okay" she then got up and entered the bathroom.

Just as she entered the bathroom, Wang Qian immediately felt something wrong as his mana started to react in a weird way. It was also at this time that the system sent him a message.

'Someone's trying to establish a link with me? Who is it though? And if i establish this link do we get to do telepathy or something around that?' he thought

After thinking for a while, he decided to pick yes. The were many reasons he did so, with the main one being related to the demon lord. As long we think about it, how can a person be a lord if they didn't even have anybody under their rule? In a summary, Wang Qian suspects the person who was trying to establish a link with him was the subordinate of the past demon lord.

"Yes"

The next moment, Wang Qian felt a connection to someone, and before he can feel the feeling closely, that someone started talking to him.

'My lord, have you finally returned?'

He heard the sound of an old man talking to him inside his brain. Wanting to reply, he tried thinking of what he would say in his mind

'Depends on how you would answer my question. Tell me, who are you?'

The person on the other side of the link stayed silent before replying

'I'm the loyal believer of the great demon lord'

This time it was Wang Qian's turn to be silent. He already made up a list of questions he wanted to ask, but that one answer already answered most of them, making him suddenly to be out of questions to ask.

'Sigh, your right. I'm the demon lord, but not the one you know. The old demon lord has disappeared with me being the new one. So can you tell me what's your purpose on establishing this link with me' he asked

'To think that Lord Edric has passed away... it doesn't matter, we've sweared our loyalty to him, saying that we will always follow him even if the person inside has changed.'

The old man then stopped for a second before talking again

'Replying to my lord, your loyal believers has received news from the soldiers of the royal palace, saying that you have finally escaped the seal made by those mages. We then gathered together and tried to establish a link with my lord , just so we can see my lord before our lives end' the old man said.

'I see... I may not be the demon lord you know, but my looks and his will are the same. If you wish, I don't mind meeting you all' he said to him after listening to what he has said.

'Can we really meet, my lord? The royal palace is searching for you across the kingdom right now, it isn't safe for you to risk yourself just for the wishes of your mere subjects.' The old man was happy to know that this new demon lord was willing to meet them, but then remembered the situation across the kingdom. So he said so to warn Wang Qian, lest he gets sealed by the mages of the royal palace.

Despite so, Wang Qian was still willing to meet his new loyal believers.

'It's okay. As long as we don't make any suspicious movement, I should be able to meet you all.'

'Thank you, my lord. But where should we look for you?' He asked.

'I'm currently at the city of Snowing Garden. I won't be leaving anytime soon as long as the royal palace doesn't make any sudden moves.' He told the old man.

'Such coincidence! Looks like the heavens, doesn't want me to die without fulfilling my wishes first' the old man exclaimed

'If so, we'll meet at the forest outside of this city tomorrow afternoon. As for which part, I'll tell you once you and the others reach there'

'Understood, my lord. I shall closed off this link now' the next second, Wang Qian felt a block in the link between him and the old man.

Bai Lian also came out from the bathroom at the same time, wearing the yellow dress this time.

Seeing her, he suddenly couldn't hold himself back and held her up and spin a few round while saying

"Ahh, my daughter is just the cutest!"

Meanwhile, Bai Lian was confused by his sudden actions.

Just like the days before, they had dinner after finishing taking a bath, and head to sleep directly. Wang Qian also decided to give up on the daily quest and go to sleep while cuddling Bai Lian.

On the second day, everything was normal. Wang Qian brought Bai Lian to the adventurers guild after having breakfast at restaurant on the first floor of the inn. They then took a relatively easy mission which was to bring a magic crystal to the forest and let it absorb some unstable mana from the forest.

The system also created a same daily quest. They then exited the city and walked towards the forest. They continued to enter deeper into the forest, until it was deep enough. The magic crystal then started absorbing the unstable mana in the forest at a slow pace. Wang Qian estimated that it would take around 5 hours for it to become full. 

"So, what are we going to do while we wait for it to be filled up?" Bai Lian asked.

"We're just gonna wait. I have someone who wants to meet me, so we decided to meet here. You can take a nap if you want" he replied to her.

"Okay" she then laid on his lap and started to sleep.

Wang Qian patted her head as he waited patiently for the old man and the others to come. After waiting for around 2 hours, he felt the block in the link between him and the old man disappeared as the sound of the old man appeared in his mind again

'My lord, we have entered the forest. Which direction should we go?' the old man asked

'Continue walk straight for around 100 meters. You should be able to find me near there'

'Understood.'

Wang Qian then woke up Bai Lian, saying to softly into her ears

"Bai Lian, wake up. They are coming"

"mhmm" she moaned before sitting up

They then sat there quietly before hearing some rustling sound coming from 2 o'clock direction

"Is it you?' He asked

"Yes, my lord. It is your loyal believers here." the familiar sound of the old man said as a group of people, which consisted of young and old, boy and female , mage and other kinds of thing that can be used to describe a person appeared in front of him.

After all of them came out, the leading old man kneeled down towards him. The others quickly followed before all of the started shouting 

"This lowly one pays respect to the great demon lord!"

All of them were very honored to have meet him, but what they didn't know was that their actions stunned Wang Qian, making him didn't know what to do for a while.....
