Chapter 7 - But...

"So when have you guys known each other?" Efren (Grace's father)said,

"Uh, uhm" Bill was super nervous he didn't know what to say,

"I already know him when we were in college, you know after our dinner we met there again, we talked about some things back then and we just realized that we had feelings for each other even back then, it's a really funny story because we just realized it and we have a lot of memories," I said acting naturally,

I've already experienced many times making up stories so that my parents will just brush it off, I've fooled them many times before whenever I sneak out to hand out with my friends too,

Bill looked at grace dumbfounded thinking of how grace managed on making up stories, so believable too,

"Oh, what university did you attend to Bill?" Efren asked,

Bill didn't know what to answer and he looked at grace asking what to answer and grace was there trying to not be suspicious, she doesn't notice that bill didn't know the whole plan,

"i-it had a long name that I forgot what it's called again," Bill said,

Grace looked at Bill shocked and was panicking in her mind,

"The answer should be at least Gunn University, I thought he'd knew because he already had gone through my files," she said in her thoughts,

"Ha!, well I can't also remember her university too so maybe it has a long complicated name," Efren said,

Both grace and bill sighed with relief,

"what are you saying, honey? the name of the university is--" before Dolores was about to finish her words, a waitress immediately walked in,

"The food is ready to be served now," they said,

"Oh please we are starving now," Grace said smiling,

"Thank you for saving us" Grace and bill were expressing their gratitude through their heads,

"Look at these two struggling," Jane said in her thoughts smirking,

"How did grace meet him though?" kyle said whispering to jane,

while they were eating suddenly a question was made by Dolores,

"Bill What kind of work do you have?" She asked,

"I Manage a lot of things from my family business...po," he said,

"Hahaha, how cute did you hear that honey? He just said po what a respectable man," Dolores said shaking Efren because of excitement,

Meanwhile, kyle was feeling grumpy,

"What kind of family business?" Kyle asked

"I am the director of a company owned by my family, J*** port, Coastal Avenu, Len****** Resort, and many more," Bill said straightforwardly answering kyle,

"Oh my, you are Bill Clinton Hera, The heir of Hera Group?!" Kyle jumped in excitement and immediately became a fanboy,

"Are you saying Hera Group? one of the well-known families that manage many brands?" Jane asked,

"Yes, Jane that Famous Group!" Kyle said,

"Oh, My Gosh, who would've thought that I will be meeting a very influential person today! Grace hurry and marry him, " Jane said,

While Bill and grace were feeling confused about how the situation became like that,

"Ah-actually we invited you here so that we could invite you to our marriage..." bill said,

"..." The atmosphere became quiet,

"Of course, of course, we will come, aren't we?" Jane said making others agree,

"Yes, of course," Dolores and kyle said,

"No!" However Efren was the only one who said no,

The others became quiet and their attention focused on Efren,

"Grace, I don't understand what you're thinking inside your head sometimes, I don't even know that guy and most importantly, I only met him! what if you also experience what your sister is going through right now!" Efren said,

"Dad!" Jane shouted,

"What? don't hate on me, you do remember when I exactly told you that other people look down on us because of our race," Our father said,

It is true though because as an Asian living in a foreign land many people think that stereotypes are right, they treat us as people who lack education and self-respect that we are poor and all, maybe that's what bill also thinks of me when I said I want a rich husband, maybe by now he is thinking that I am some kind of person with no self-respect,

"I know that you are worried that I might treat your daughter badly or my family will abuse her, however, my family has already seen her and they have accepted her as a family now," Bill said holding my hand to encourage me,

"But are your hearts telling that you guys deserve each other?" My father said to bill and me,

"Are you two really up for the commitments?" Efren said staring at bill and grace,

"I am sure," Grace said holding bill's hand tightly,

"And I am also ready for the commitment, it's not because you guys are rushing me for marriage but because I know that he is the man I've been waiting for," Grace said,

"Come on grace, you are an adult now you cannot decide that you will marry a guy, just for a short day of happiness you are feeling after meeting him, and I can't understand why you want to marry him when you can't even give me a good reason," Efren said,

"But I really love him dad..." Grace said staring at her father seriously and sincere,

Efren felt an ache in his heart seeing his daughter being serious for a man,

"Bill is your name isn't it?" he asked,

Bill puts down Grace's hand and jumped from his seat immediately,

"y-yes sir!" bill said,

"Well take good care of my daughter," he said smiling at Bill,

"ye-" before finishing bill's words Efren interrupted him,

"And also call me father," he said,

"O-of course... Father," Bill smiled and a light aura surrounded him,

"Goodness gracious what an angel, I'm worried about him more than my daughter, my daughter is pure evil, I'm worried she'll influence him," Efren said in his thought,

we then finished our dinner and we head out, my dad guided my mother in his arms and my brother-in-law held my sister's hands while my sister leaned her head to his shoulder, I saw them smiling at each other heading outside the restaurant,

"Aren't we going now?" Bill said handing his hand out,

I held his hand and I smiled,

"let's go home now," I said,

I now realised that this is how it feels like.
