I stayed in the same spot for some time due to shock.

How could this be? Did I just ruin my chances of becoming his friend?

When I first read the book, "The Gold Knight," the antagonist of the story, Caliban stood out to me.

In my eyes, he was not the villain. He just wanted to be loved and accepted. Caliban had a tragic backstory. Not many know this, but Caliban was the illegitimate child of the Archduke. The archduke had a one night stand with a maid of the Greyscale.

When the Duchess found out about the maid's pregnancy, she kicked her out of the estate, leaving the maid to the slums.

After, the maid raised her child whom she had named Caliban. Even in poverty, Caliban remained a happy and bright child who smiled over the littlest things. He was very pure and innocent until that day.

On that day, the Archduke came to visit his illegitimate son who he was keeping tabs on because he found out that Caliban had the blessing of the Fire God, Kairos, and had a strong constitution.

The archduke killed his mother right in front of him.

Seeing such a sight at 6 years old can mess you up. That was the first time he met his father, the Archduke. Caliban hated and loathed his father at first sight for what he did to his mother.

However, little did Caliban know, his mother was already dying of an old illness anyways and it was a matter of seconds before she would die.

The archduke, Freon Greyscale knew from his investigation that Lailah was ill and was destined to die, rather than let her suffer in pain, he killed her because he thought that was the last gift he gave her, the women he had once loved dearly.

Even if killing Lailah meant having his own son hate him, so be it he thought.

What was the point of it all when Freon had lost what he loved the most?

But this does not change the fact that his father is scum! I would never forgive his father for ignoring his very resistance to point where he let his wife, the duchess bully and torture such a young boy.

To make matters worse, the duchess was envious of Caliban because the duchess herself could not produce a single heir.

The duchess began to relentlessly bully Caliban even to go as far as trying to kill him be it poison or direct attacks which the Archduke ignored because the Archduke wanted Caliban to become stronger so that he may one day inherit the Dukedom of the Greyscale.

Caliban found out that if he hides his emotions, then the duchess will reduce the amount of torture that he had to go through, after all, the duchess liked to bully him to get a reaction from him.

Caliban became a tsundere, saying things he did not mean.

After meeting the protagonist of the book, Caliban finds hope in his despair. Asher was like the light in his darkness.

But, of course, every time he tried to be nice and caring for the one he loved, he ended up tormenting Asher because he was a tsundere character which everyone thought that he was bullying Asher just because he was a commoner.

Even Asher thought that Caliban was bullying him.

I sighed. I remember when I read about him I vowed that if I had the chance then I would cherish him and tell him that he is loved.

Hopefully next time we can become friends.

I began to explore the market again, occasionally stopping at some stalls to see the products and goods that they had.

The sun was starting to set and I decided to go back to the Holy Church. I wanted to get home before the sun completely set, so I decided to take a shortcut through the Alley.

I shivered when I stepped foot in the Alley from the cold wind. The alley was darker than I originally thought. It was very creepy and I was about to step out from the alley thinking that maybe this wasn't the best decision after all.

I stepped back and knocked into someone's chest.

"Hey there, where are you going?" A creepy male voice said.

I jumped away from him.

It was an old man with a creepy looking grin on his face. Behind him stood about 5 other men who looked like thugs.

They all had weapons in their hands.

Oh, come on now! Really!?

"Be a good little boy and give us all your money." One of the thugs called out, holding a baseball bat towards me.

"No." The heck? Why would I do that?

The thugs chuckled at each other. "Guess you wanna take the hard way then." One of the 6 thugs said.

I gathered up my dark mana which was stronger during the night and where there are more shadows. Just when I was about to attack them, I saw a shot of lightning flash and hit one of the men, electrocuting him. The man passed out from the pain.

Now, there were 5 thugs left. They stared at their fallen comrade in shock.

Who? I wondered.

I saw a familiar figure jumped down from a building. He was holding a sword that was blazing with fire and lightning mana.

In one clean sweep, the thugs were all on the ground, passed out.

The familiar person turned around to look at me with a grin.

My eyes widened in astonishment. It was Caliban!

"Hey." He said with a slight smirk.

My jaw opened. "How...?"

Caliban looked at me and said, "I was just in the area."

I stared at him dumbly.

"Is this fate? This is our second time meeting today." Caliban said with a sexy grin.

I blushed. Wasn't Caliban suppose to be a tsundere? Why is he flirting so openly with me? Why was his personality so different now?

"It's not safe. I'll send you home."

I nodded and we began to make our way home to the Holy Church.

And thus, that is is how the villain and I became 'friends'
