You're Already Doing It

Once the cookies had cooled enough to be taken off the rack, Maya put a few on a plate and brought them upstairs. She didn't hear voices outside the office door this time so she knocked a bit more confidently than she had yesterday.

"Come in," Vincent called wearily.

She had never been inside his office before. At a glance, it was plain to see he didn't spend much time in here. The room was devoid of any decoration. There was a desk with two computer monitors on it and a window. That was it. The only signs of use were a coffee mug, a slightly overflowing mini trash can, and the fact that there were multiple windows pulled up on the screens.

He was slumped in his office chair, which was built with taller people in mind since the back of his head could actually touch the headrest, and was still wearing the same pajamas he had been in when she saw him yesterday.

"How's it coming?" Maya asked as she set the cookies down on the desk next to him.
