Oddly Disappointed

Maya didn't see Vincent again until the next day at dinner. He had his usual bags under his eyes but seemed less dead than he had when he was making phone calls. If she had to guess, he had been pulling all-nighters again trying to get his project done. He had mentioned he wanted it to be finished before they moved to the island.

They were set to leave in a few days so she had started wondering what all she needed to pack. She decided to ask him.

He looked at her blankly. "Maya, Martin can pack for you. You don't have to worry about that sort of thing. Cassandra has already come up with the necessary lists and will tell him what to do."

The robot hadn't done that when they went to the conference! But she supposed it was because that was a much shorter trip. It would be weird if Martin packed for her since she wanted to pick her own clothes to wear. Besides, women needed to pack more than men did.

"I'd rather do it myself, honestly," Maya told him.
