Signing the contract

***

Next morning,

Midway.

Calina had spent the whole night thinking about her dream and President Luther. And, she had finally made up her mind. She'd sign the contract and date him for two months. For that two months, she'd try to find the correlations between her dream and President Luther.

She stood up and got dressed for the day. She was all dressed up when her phone rang. It was Simon, her assistant.

"Good morning boss" Simon greeted over the phone.

"Morning Simon, what's up?" Calina asked in a light tone.

"I called to inform you about the meeting tonight by 9p.m," he said.

"Oh! I totally forgot. Alright, I'll be there. Just send someone to come pick me up by 8p.m," she replied.

"Okay boss," Simon said.

Calina hung up.

"So what? Why do you have to dress up this way to work? You will always continue to look like a waste," Shirley said and she eyed Calina head to toe.

Calina was dressed in white gown designed with black polka dots. She wore white sneakers and cross bag to match and had tied her hair to the back with a black ribbon.

"Do you have a problem with my dress?" Calina asked.

"Yes. Isn't it noticeable?" Shirley asked in a disgusted tone.

"It actually is. Are you worried that I'd be the one people will notice today?" Calina asked.

"What? Why would I? And who gave you the boldness to talk to me that way?" Shirley was surprised. Calina was usually quiet when she talked to her.

"No one. I'll go bring you a cup of tea to cool down," Calina said and walked away smiling. 'What had gotten into her?' She asked herself.

Shirley watched Calina walk out of her sight. 'Where did she get the boldness to talk to me that way?' Shirley asked herself.

Calina was waiting for the cup of tea when a guy named Brad walked up to her.

"Hello there," Brad said to Calina and then turned to place his order.

"Hi," Calina replied without looking at him.

"You look pretty today," He said.

Calina accepted the cup of tea from the attendant. "Thanks," she said to Brad and walked away.

She was that cold to Brad because he was someone who supported how Shirley treated her, the reason being that he like her boss, Shirley.

Calina gave Shirley the cup of tea, then excused herself before Shirley could think of what to say.

Ly group.

It wasn't that he wanted to be distracted, but there are some feelings that you can't just control.

Lucien looked at his phone, it was few minutes after 2p.m. He was still expecting Calina's call. He returned to work on the computer, but there was a sudden bleep {a message had just entered}.

Lucien looked at it. It was a message from an unknown number, so he was sure it was from Calina. He clicked the message open.

"Good afternoon President Luther, this is Calina. I would not like to disturb you with a call, so I thought a message would be more comfortable. I just want to ask you if you have time to spare." That was the content of Calina's message.

Lucien replied back. "Lime crunch 3p.m."

***

Starlight,

Calina deleted the message and typed again. She was unsure of what to write. She finally typed a message, pressed the send button and closed her eyes. She was wondering what President Luther would be thinking when he saw the message, when her phone vibrated and she immediately shot her eyes open. PRESIDENT LUTHER HAD TEXTED BACK. The message was short. "Lime crunch 3p.m."

Calina stared at the message. She was to meet with him at Lime crunch, by 3p.m. She took a glance at the time, it was eleven minutes after two.

She had better leave now. She didn't want to keep him waiting.

Calina returned back to Shirley. She met her reading a magazine with the empty cup of tea on a stool beside her.

"Miss, I..." Calina wanted to talk when Shirley dropped the magazine ready to pick on her.

"Are you back to your senses now?" Shirley asked as sassy as ever.

"Huh?" Calina was surprised at the question.

"What? Have you finally realised your position?" Shirley asked.

"I know I'm your assistant," Calina replied.

"Yes, you are. It means you have to do all I ask," Shirley said.

"I'm sorry miss, but, can I be excused for a while? I really have to be somewhere," Calina said.

"And the place is more important than here? You know, I've been wondering what you are up to these days,"

"I'm so sorry. I'll leave now," Calina said, bowed and left.

"Sheesh! She doesn't give me the chance to say what I wanna say. I might as well just ask her to be replaced so she'd be left with no job, it's just fun picking on her. I won't have to deal with her when I finally get into Glittering Jewels," Shirley said to herself and smiled...

Lime cruch,

It was few minutes to three when Calina arrived at Lime crunch. But, President Luther arrived there only few seconds after.

Calina immediately greeted when she saw him and she walked behind him and his assistant to a table.

They both took their seats.

"What would you like to order?" President Luther asked.

"I'm fine, thanks," Calina replied. "I just want to talk," she added.

"So what did you decide?" He asked looking directly at her.

"I...," Calina sighed.

Lucien stared at her. He said nothing, but was studying her.

"I thought of it well enough and I have decided to sign the contract," Calina said.

Lucien felt this happy feeling but he didn't smile. His face was just the usual way it was.

"Okay then. Do you still want it to be extended?" He asked.

"Not at all," she replied. "I'll just sign the original one," she added.

Lucien signaled to Walter for the contract paper.

Walter brought it and Calina signed it.

"We are dating now, I'll buy you a meal. Consider this our first date," Lucien said with no expression on his face.

Calina coughed. 'Date?' The word sounded odd to her ears.

Lucien ordered and the meal was immediately brought.

"President Luther, it has to be kept a secret," Calina said.

"It will be," Lucien replied.

Calina carried a glass of water to drink.

"So when are you moving in?" Lucien asked.

"Cough! Cough!" Calina choked.

It was in the contract that she had to move into his house for those two mont

hs, but she didn't expect him to ask that way.

"I... ," Calina paused and thought for a while. "Soon," she replied.
