“Now Arielle tells me you are also in need of a place to live,” said Jean Claude, moving on to the next subject, as if the matter of my hiring had already been settled. “I can help you with that, if you want. I have a place in need of a major rehab, a place I can’t rent until I do that. You can stay there for minimal rent, which I would just deduct from your paycheck. We can discuss the amount, come to something you feel is fair. You may want to discuss the amount of the rent with Arielle as you are not familiar with rents in Paris, which I can assure you are quite steep. Again, I think you would find that I would not be trying to take advantage of you, that I would be fair. So, what do you think? Would you like to try working here?”
