“So he told me you could stay for the next two nights, as long as we use the back entrance. He will pretend he doesn’t see us, doesn’t know about us.”
I was so overwhelmed. I felt a tear running down my cheek. Quickly wiping it away, not wanting her to see, I picked her up and hugged her tightly, forgetting we were standing right there in front of the hotel. I picked her up so high that one of her high heels fell off.
“Rabi, I will never let you be out on the street again. Don’t ever worry about that. Now let’s go get some dinner. We’ll have all night, all morning, all day tomorrow together. You won’t have to sneak out of my room at dawn anymore.”
