"What are you?"

We looked into each other's eyes then walked to separate paths, I went straight ahead while he went for the spooky forest surrounded by tall trees with varying vines clinging on its branches like venomous snakes blending with nature using plants as camouflage. I stopped to scan everything that surrounds me but deep inside, I'm looking for those eyes that I've always dreamt of every night. I was rooted on the ground the moment I found it, those green orbs with specs of gold around them that never failed to make my heart thump faster. Regaining my composure, I sprinted towards the spot where our so called race will end – at the end of the cliff. But a winged shadow hovered over me blocking the sun.

"I hate you Corbin. Damn you cheater!"

I collapsed to the ground as soon I set foot near the willow tree. Its green leaves slowly danced with the wind. Cold breeze blew as my body began to relax while Corbin jumped from the tree to the ground then joined me as I lay on the grassy ground.

"Illuvia (Iyuvia) we didn't settle any rules so technically I won". He grinned triumphantly and I badly want to wipe it off his face.

"Corbin...."

"Hmmm..... "

"What are you?"

A long silence enveloped the both of us but it wasn't an awkward one. We just laid there looking at the sky now turning into an artists' pallet. The sun is starting to bid the clouds goodbye as it seek refuge behind the mountains. The sky already started having streaks of yellow and orange. It felt so serene...and magical.

"Will you believe me if I say I'll be your worst nightmare?"

I looked at him with wondering eyes then I smiled.

"When that happens... when you turn into my worst nightmare...as you put it..."

I stopped for a second... gauging the words that I will utter next....

"I will not leave you unless you say so..."

"But stay even if I push you away...."

I cannot look at him as I say this... I sounded selfish...I felt selfish...but he just smiled and nodded while mouthing "I promise..." My cheeks flushed at the simple gesture.

But that was the last time I remember being with him.....
