In the dark dim room, a lone man resides honing his swordsmanship. With every movement, the air gets cut. He continues swinging and swinging however he is stopped by the human body. What a waste.
"Is still all I can do? After 15 years of training," the man sighs in defeat.
He gazes at the torn calluses of his hand bleeding and then onto his makeshift katana. His only friend is the sharp blade residing next to him. Without it, he would be a normal civilian living a peaceful life. But he despises that, what fun is there to a peaceful boring life? All he desires is strength, surpassing the average human by miles.
"I've got to pay the bills soon.." He says distractingly and leaves the basement with his katana.
He grabs the bill and squints his eyes to see the damage.
Dear Jin Scar...
1300.. 29th..
"1300 dollars? Fuck me, I've only got 500 left for the month.." He thought and threw the paper on the ground.
"I wish the whole government would perish, can't let a single man do his work.." He said angrily and left the house with the katana in hand.
"I have practiced with the sword all my life... it's time I test myself" He murmured and drove his car to a forest known for a large bear population.
..
Jin Scar was not the average man, his desires for strength were unfathomable on Earth and unquestionably not possible. Sure in those novels the main characters could slice huge boulders with one strike but he slowly started realizing how weak humans truly were. They were one of the most pathetic races he had seen.
Training in swordsmanship since 8 years old and then developing his own sword style made him famous in the swordsmanship community. Only an unparalleled genius could achieve that. But others ridiculed him I mean it's the 21st century! We have guns and other highly effective weapons.
However he ignored them until now, Jin was at the breaking point after almost 2 decades of practicing. Today was the day he would either live or die with honor as a swordsman. He would hunt anything even at night he did not care.
..
Eventually, Jin managed to reach the forest that is said to have plenty of bears on Google.
He parked his car on the side of the round with no care in the world and strolled into the forest with his mighty katana.
He continued wandering around the seemingly huge forest however he found nothing. Not a single animal, not even a squirrel or deer could be seen. He continued searching with no hesitation till dusk. Only then did he find out that he messed up.
The sun was setting and there he found it.
A bear with her two cubs in the distance. His heart started beating and he could feel the butterflies flying around in his stomach. He was very excited but nervous too... Jin had never used his swordsmanship on live targets a flaw that he would come to realize.
"Jackpot! Let's do this" He encouraged himself and started approaching the huge bear.
A momma bear is usually more aggressive when she's with her cub but he did not know this at all.
When approaching Jin stepped on a stick and the bear immediately picked it up. She turned her head and was surprised to find Jin 20 meters away from her.
The bear immediately started running towards him with full power and her roars could be heard loudly.
"Shit!" He said and unsheathed the katana on his hip.
Jin took a stance and waited patiently not forgetting his training. His swordsmanship was amazingly adaptable making any situation favorable.
Eventually, the bear and Jin clashed. He braced for the impact of the bear's claws. He blocked it but not without getting injured. The swipe from the bear's claw gave him a huge scar on his arm. But the adrenaline and excitement made him not feel it at all. Instead, he felt stronger weirdly.
Ding! Initializing system... could be heard however he did not pick it up in the heat of battle.
The bear disengaged after the first claw swipe and Jin decided to attack. Only this time he realized something was wrong.. he couldn't move his left arm at all.
He tried and tried however he could not move it. He quickly looked at his arm and realized that it had turned mangled and bone could be seen.
"O-oh.. s-s-shit" He stuttered before collapsing due to blood loss.
Immediately a wave of darkness hit him in his last moments. He tried touching his body and realized it wasn't there. He was practically a ghost. He wandered around the black room until a voice could be heard.
"Young man.." A strong powered voice could be heard behind him.
He immediately turned his head in fright and saw something out of his world. An intimidating man with hundreds if not thousands of scars could be seen sitting on a throne-like chair.
Jin tried talking but couldn't, all he could do was nod.
They both made eye contact and Jin could feel a domineering pressure making him unsteady.
"Young man, I have chosen you as my player," He said and yawned.
"Player?" He thought to himself wondering what in the world was happening.
"It seems those bastards have forgotten the power of the sword.." He replied to himself looking into an orb in front of him.
"I have seen your will and tenacity to follow the path of the sword" He continued and stared at Jin.
Jin tried to say something but was interrupted.
"As my player go show those mage bitches who's boss" He then said and grabbed a katana that appeared out of thin air.
"Boy.. accept this and you will become the strongest. Mark my word" He confidently and boldly stated.
Jin was still in shock and disbelief but he instinctively knew that the man's saying was correct.
"Yes come.." The man said seeing Jin approaching him.
Eventually Jin touched the sword and was greeted with light..
