Ch 4 The Mysterious Box?

I was so tired from not sleeping that I got up to go into the bathroom as my Uncle called for me. I yelled, "okay ok Uncle I'm coming." I couldn't stop rubbing my eyes. They hurt so much like they had sand in them, but that is strange because I haven't been anywhere near a beach or a sandbox for that matter. The only thing I know about beaches is from reading my stories. I could hear my uncle calling me again, but I didn't care at that moment. All I could think of was my eyes. What could be causing this pain? I don't remember them ever feeling like this before. I looked in the mirror to see if I had anything in my eye and I didn't recognize the person looking back at me. I blinked twice really quickly and didn't recognize my reflection???? Could that be???.

I turned around to see if someone was behind me, nobody was there! .. I looked back into the mirror and I saw just plain old me. The kid no one loved or wanted. As I stared at my reflection in the mirror one more time I saw my sky blue eyes, but right now they were red with a hint of blue. When did my straight dark black hair get that long? It was below my shoulders almost to the middle of my back. Just then I let out a chuckle….. It almost fits that I have a girl's name!!! My uncle keeps telling me he will take me for a haircut, but never seems to have time for me except for first thing in the morning.

My uncle yelled again for me to come to the kitchen. I wiped my face and went into the kitchen. As I was getting ready to sit down the doorbell rang….. Ding dong ding dong….. I looked at my uncle and he looked at me "who is it" he asked me. "I don't know, I don't think anyone knows where I live." Yuki then looked at his uncle and said "maybe the mailman or robbers???" We both stayed in the kitchen for what felt like an hour, but it was really only seconds. That's when we heard ding dong ding dong again. My uncle got up from the table and headed to the front door. As he turned to look at me and said "Yuki do not leave this table!"

I didn't understand why. We never had anyone visit us. Uncle turned to me and said "really robbers??? WHAT in THIS world would make you think it could be robbers Yuki? As my uncle started to walk away he turned and stared at me with a bewildered look. As if he was confused? I wanted to say something, but thought again that it might make him upset if I asked too many questions. He never seems to answer them anyway,

He looked out the glass window in the door and didn't see anyone or anything, he yelled to me

"That was strange Yuki, no one is there." I walked over and said, "uncle maybe we should open the door just to look around." Uncle forgot that he told me not to come to the door. He thought for a few seconds, looked back at me, and opened the door. At first, he was getting ready to close the door, but because I was small I saw a medium size box with an envelope on it. The box was just plain brown nothing written on it. The only thing I saw was a strange symbol or something weird that I didn't recognize. My Uncle looked at the strange symbols as well, but didn't say anything. "Uncle, what are those symbols or scribbles on the box? Have you seen that at work."

He didn't respond right away as we then saw the white envelope with Xpedion Mail Corp in the upper left corner of the envelope and my name dead center... My uncle asked me in a not nice voice "what did you get and how did you order it?" I told my uncle

"How could I order anything without money."

My uncle picked up the box and brought it into the house reluctantly. Later that day as the box sat on the floor we tried to find out information about Xpedion Mail Corp, but it was like they did not exist. My uncle left me home alone. I think he goes to work, but I'm not exactly sure what he does for all the hours he's not with me. I can't even find him if I want to. He tells me if anything happens he will know and come to me otherwise he will see me in the morning.

"YUKI, DO NOT OPEN THIS BOX NO MATTER WHAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? Well, do you?" Yuki I'm talking to you where did you go…..RESPOND TO ME RIGHT NOW BOY!!!!!!!!!! He then bent down, put his hands on my shoulders and as he was staring me in the eyes literally yelled YUKI RESPOND TO ME RIGHT NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I SAID" I stared at my Uncle and said "understand what? He looked angry, not sure I've ever seen him that angry. He was holding the box and said " I've told you many many times DO NOT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE ARE YOU TO OPEN THAT BOX UNTIL I COME BACK! I CAN'T BE ANY CLEARER! Do you understand me NOW!? If SO REPEAT WHAT I SAID" Yes uncle…..

"I then repeated everything he said to me even though I didn't want to listen, this one time. I sat almost all day staring at the box, picking it up, shaking it and I still have no idea what is in it. I wanted to open it so bad. "I mean it does have my name on it. Someone sent it to me for my birthday…. Ugh, I don't think I can wait till morning." As I sat here staring at the box that my uncle told me not to open I realized he never told me why he took the voucher and didn't even bring it back today. At least I don't think he did.

I was so so upset. Not only did my uncle take my voucher yesterday, but today a box came with my name on it and he won't let me open it. As I sit here staring at the box, my eyes are getting very heavy. I took the box into my room and laid down on the floor next to my mirror and bed. Holding tight to this box and thinking it is addressed to me so why shouldn't I open it. However, before I could act on it I dozed off.
