My Mind Is Frozen

I dragged my left leg slowly forward, in order to walk.

Something must have happened - not only I did not feel cold in that leg anymore, I also could not use it that much anymore.

In order to improve my mood, I tried to remind myself of the countless heroes we knew back on Earth. Like, the story of certain fellowship which had to cross snowy mountains; of certain noble, who was wrongfully imprisoned; and so on.

But it doesn't help much after a while.

On the other hand, I will probably soon gain a <level 2> in my cold resistance skill. And maybe also get the skill to convert the mana in my body to satisfy my hunger. Since in my free time, which I have a lot of, I tried to consciously train those two skills.

It should help, right?

You think so too, right?!

Don't tell me you do not; as I am really out of other ideas.

Other relatively good news is, that over those last five days, my eyes were not as much painful when I gazed at the heaps of snow reflecting the light.

I started to sense in that kind of scenery a certain type of beauty; perhaps because I no longer had any television or internet. Heck, I don't even have any music.

And now, I got one question for you…!

Do you think… do you think there could be fata morgana, the mirage phenomenon, in places filled with snow?

Because if there is not, then I see some humans!

The problem just is, that the closer I come, the bigger they are.

In fact, I no longer actually think they could be humans.

No, if they really exist; if they are not illusions; if they're real, they have to be giants.

After some time, I started to hear some voices. It's their voices, I hope.

"Hey, you are supposed to… what was it… be in the guardian role. That means, you should go fight first, right?"

"But how I am to fight first, if the wolf pounces at you from the back…?"

"How should I know that?? You are the… the guardian, as grandpa said, right? You should fight it first."

"I don't think I always have to. Let's ask him."

"Hmph! Let's see."

I was basically few meters from them. They are, like, 3 meters tall. Look like barbarians to me, having these leather armors and all.

By now, I got really tired - believe me.

Really hungry.

Really worn-out.

So when they glanced curiously at me, I just managed to squeeze out:

"I am a little human, and can tell interesting stories in exchange for a little bit of food!"
