I'm too beautiful

-The Canteen-

"Let's sit there." Lani suggested, counting the number of people going to dine together in her head. It was supposed to be five people meeting but an uninvited guest, Zou Haoran joined them too. Well, his presence wasn't that unexpected when they actually took his only friends in the school.

Without wasting any time those four sat down. Zou Haoran and Opal sat on either side of Caleb. While Lani chose to sit in front of Zou Haoran leaving two seats empty.

After some time, Layla and Ryan joined them. "Sorry, we are a little late."

They run their eyes across the table to scan those three in front of them. Only Zou Haoran seemed to be a little out of place. Everyone was having a canteen meal except him. His food was brought by his driver, prepared by his chef. Its smell was making them drool.

"So how's your first day till now?" Layla asked, ignoring the unwanted party at the table.

"It was good. Everyone is friendly." Caleb answered.

"Yeah, we are doing well." Opal said, expressing her good mood. Well, it was good seeing her since it wasn't long when she cried.

They waited for her to speak about her purpose. Caleb was surprised when Lani approached them with the vice-president's message. When he encountered Zou Haoran, he came to know that only he and Opal were called, not Zou Haoran.

Thus, Zou Haoran tagged along with them. His reason, he doesn't know anybody else here enough to have a hearty meal with them. As if he can't eat alone. To prevent Caleb from reasoning further, he stated that if he went alone to eat, others might come and bother him. As if he can't scare them away. Still, in the end, Caleb agreed without any struggle.

"So, you wanted to meet us. Why?" Caleb asked without beating around the bush.

Seeing him this straightforward, Layla smiled. "I presume that you already know me.", 'Due to yesterday's incident.' Well, these words never slipped from her lips.

He nodded.

Meanwhile, Zou Haoran was watching their conversation unfold, maintaining his indifferent expression.

"Let me introduce him. He is Ryan Bai, the president of the student council."

"Hello"

"Hello"

It was a little unexpected. They never thought that they would be dining with the student council on their first day.

"Let me get to the point. I lack a secretary." She paused, giving them some time.

"Huh!?" Both Opal and Caleb were confused. 'Why is she telling us? Could it be, she wanted us to…?'

'Secretary huh!?' Zou Haoran was also listening.

Her next words cleared their doubts further. "And I wanted to know whether any of you are interested?"

"I'm… a little surprised that you don't have a secretary. Can you tell us more about your requirements?" Caleb spoke while Opal was nodding her head indicating that she also wanted to know the same.

"Well… it's not like that there is no one capable. But the problem is I don't get along well with suitables and don't want anyone troublesome by my side." She breathed in before making herself more clear. "I don't want a smitten fool nor a jealous person. And, definitely not someone gossipy."

"Although I haven't known Opal for a long time, still I don't feel like she's a petty person. As for you, Caleb, I don't think you will act like a fool around me."

"How do you know that he won't be smitten by you?" The silent Zou Haoran suddenly asked amusedly. He found her reasoning somewhat… funny.

She replied in a low voice "Because he's not paying that much attention to me, rather his focus is on his side when I'm sitting right in front of him." She also wanted to add that he's looking at Opal with emotions in his eyes but held herself back. After all, not everything needs to be said every time.

"Pfft"

*cough* *cough*

After changing the atmosphere she continued eating without any change in her expression as if she was not the one who passed that absurd comment earlier. But she wasn't trying to be narcissistic or arrogant. She was just… stating the fact that fell in her eyes.

A few of them were a little uncomfortable, not sure about how they should react. Especially the two people she involved directly and indirectly. Opal was feeling shy. There was a hint of blush on her cheeks. Caleb wanted to say something but before he could, someone else did.

"You're quite… confident". Zou Haoran stated. Although he has seen many girls who are proud of their appearances yet none of them is this... blunt. They like to be complimented by others rather than saying it themselves.

"Of course, I already know that I'm too beautiful to ignore. Did you really think that everyone in this room is staring at you? Don't tell me you attract boys too." She was clearly mocking him. Though she was well aware that this is not the reason why everyone else in the canteen was glancing at their table from time to time, still it couldn't stop her from spouting nonsense.

"Finish your food before time runs out." An order was issued by the silent president. If not, she might have started an argument with him.

'No wonder she does not get along well with others.' Caleb was thinking, seeing the exchange between her and Zou Haoran. Then he looked at his friend and sighed inwardly, 'He's also the same.'

"Heh," Zou Haoran also resumed eating without any other word.

Today's lunch was something else. People at the table felt that two bulls were butting heads with each other. Just as all of them were about to leave for their respective classes, Layla spoke once again, "By the way, I did not mean any offense."

It was unexpected. There was no apology yet she made sure to clear any misunderstanding due to her act. 'Maybe she does not seem that bad.' More or less but these were the thoughts of Caleb. Even Opal could feel it, she might be a little different but not bad.
