Chapter 17

Xianth was forced to retreat deeper into the woods while the merchant was chasing him. The only silver lining in this situation was the fact that the merchant cannot catch up to him even if he wanted to

His body was just too huge and full of air to let him move at a fast speed

Seeing that both of their attacks can't reach each other, Xianth decided to flee. In any case, he was not a battle maniac. As much as he wants to give this merchant a lesson, exploring and learning more about the Osmeon Continent is still more important

He can do that by entering the city and learning from his fellow humans and not by wasting time fighting with the merchant

Without any hesitation, Xianth increases his speed and in just a few minutes, he was fully gone from the merchant's vision

——

Considering that it was the Viscounty that is Xianth's goal destination, after losing the merchant, he went back to where he came from, and on his way, he saw the three guards still unconscious on the ground

He was about to run past them when he stopped as he realized something. He is currently in need of clothes and money

He wouldn't normally steal as the current him still lived using the values he had on earth but these people were trying to harm him first. Why should he be guilty even if he were to rob them?

While thinking of that, Xianth approached the guard the nearest to him and he wordlessly took off the man's clothes aside from the underwear since he don't really have a plan of wearing someone else's underwear

"Hmm, all of them are too muscular. Their clothes would be too big for me. If it was on earth, I'll just suck it up until I can wear clothes that fit me. But this is the Osmeon Continent. It hasn't been long since I got out of the cave but I already fought multiple times. I can't risk wearing these buggy clothes that might affect my physical movement"

Xianth remained level-headed as usual as he stared at the shirt and pants that he got from one of the guards. They are too big for him and he was thinking of a way to repair them

"Wait... could I?" He muttered while gathering mana at his palm and he hissed

Now that the adrenaline wore off and he was not forced to ignore his wounds, the pain of the numerous injuries on his body causes him to hiss loudly

The wounds were very painful for someone like him that don't have a lot of chance to receive injuries

He also used quite a lot of energy from the fight and Xianth's knees gave out. He possessed vast mana reserves but because his control over his Gift was still very immature, the toll on his body was huge. After escaping from the enemy, the fatigued caught up to him and Xianth found his body in a terrible state

His body felt painful and heavy. It was hard for him to move even just a little bit

"I'm still out in the wild and who knows where that merchant will come back here? I can't risk staying here for long!" Xianth judged the situation with an unusual level-headedness

Instead of panicking, he scanned himself, and his surroundings, and recalled the things he knew about Divinities, Gift, and superpowers

"I am not familiar with the trees and plants around me. I cannot use external items to help heal my wound. As for myself, I am bleeding in different areas. Even if I use some cloth to help lessen the bleeding, this would be a band-aid situation. I am still in a feeble state"

"My Divinity is 'special' but this just refers to the level of the lifeform and also dictates the upper ceiling of one's Gift. Many information about Divinities is still unknown to me"

"As for my Gift, it is the ability to control and consume energy. Can I heal myself with my Gift? Wait, I remember that I have a wound on my side because of that sword attack. Why can't I see it anymore?"

Xianth discovered an interesting point and now that he recalled it the pain on his side vanished after he released a huge amount of energy earlier. Can his Gift heal him if he released a huge amount of energy?

"But... wouldn't that be too crude? Also, further pushing my body by releasing a large amount of energy might worsen my situation. At worst, I might lose consciousness before I can recover from my injuries if my Gift could even do that. Just what is the exact thing that helped heal my wound?"

"Energy... energy... wait!"

As Xianth continue to think, his eyes suddenly lit up as if he just remembered something

"My Gift is consuming and using energy. I don't know the extent but mana is just one form of energy. Maybe, I could also control my cellular energy? My lifeforce? Or whatever the term is. As long as it is energy, I should be able to control it! Maybe, I instinctively controlled my energy in the form of lifeforce earlier to help me heal my wound!"

The more Xianth thinks the more he is convinced that his theory is correct and he wasted no time trying his theory

He closes his eyes and started focusing on his own body in search of a form of energy that could heal his wounds. Fortunately, his Gift is directly related to that and he immediately sensed it

Aside from mana, there was also another type of energy that was flowing on Xianth's body. If mana was blue in color then this other energy on the other hand was blood-red in color

It felt completely different from mana even though both of them are forms of energy. This was yet another thrilling experience for Xianth and he was thankful that he entered such a marvelous world
