They had spent some time drinking and talking while going through a few pints when a guy walked up to Lily and ordered a beer. He seemed to be a little pissed(drunk) and feeling confident, blatantly staring at her arse as she bent over to fetch a pint glass.
When she finally put down the poured pint in front of the guy he intentionally brushed his hand over hers.
Chris could see the panic in her eyes when it happened. Within a fraction of a second the contents of the pint froze. The expanding ice caused the pint to explode into shards cutting both of their hands.
The guy jumped back holding is hand. "What the fuck?!" he shouted.
Lily's eyes widened in panic. She wasn't even concerned about the guy and ran out from behind the bar. It took her mere moments to escape behind the 'employees only' door leading into the back of the bar.
The guy at the bar was trying to shake the beer off his hands and looking for something to wipe his hands. "Isn't she going to clean this? Daft cunt," the guy said.
Seth looked surprised at first, but quickly realised why they were there.
Chris stood up. "Ok, time to move," he said.
Seth nodded and followed his lead towards the employees only door.
Chris simply acted like he was meant to be there and walked through the door like he owned the place.
It didn't take long for them to hear a sobbing sound coming from ahead. After rounding a corner in the hallway they found Lily crouched on the floor with her back against the wall. Her face in her hands as sobs escaped her lips.
"What happened? Was that my fault?" she muttered to herself.
She shook her head. "No, it wasn't my fault," she muttered.
Chris raised his hands to signal Seth to wait. He slowly approached.
"Hey. Are you ok?" he asked in a gentle tone.
She looked up with a start, panic evident in her eyes. Ice started forming on the floor spreading from where she was crouched.
"S-stay back!" she screamed.
He held his hands up to show he wasn't a threat. "Everything is going to be just fine. Just relax. We're not going to do anything, okay?" He said as non-threateningly as possible.
The spread of the ice on the ground slowed down.
She carefully nodded, but still looked at them with suspicion. "Why are you here? You're not allowed back here," she said.
He smiled. "I know you're scared right now, but we're here to help you," he said.
She still seemed suspicious. "And how are you supposed to help me?" She asked, clearly not believing him.
"This might sound crazy, but you saw your own powers just now..." he said.
"N-no... that wasn't me," she said nervously.
"I think you know deep down it was. Just look at the floor right now," he said.
She finally noticed the ice on the floor spreading out from her. Her eyes widened. "W-wait... no... this is impossible. I'm not some freak," she stammered.
Chris shook his head. "You aren't alone in this," he said.
Her gaze darted between the two of them. "W-what do you mean?" She asked hesitantly.
He tried to smile to reassure her. "You're not the only one that got powers during the storm earlier today," he said.
He tried to slowly move closer.
"Are you... are you telling the truth?" She asked.
He nodded. "Even better. The good news is my friend Seth here has a power too and he can actually remove other people's powers. I know you don't want to hurt anyone. He can help you make sure that never happens," he said.
She stared at Seth with eyes widened in surprise. "Do you really have powers too?" She asked.
Seth smiled awkwardly. "Uh... yeah... I guess," he said.
Her gaze turned more suspicious.
Chris sighed. "Don't mind him... he is still getting used to knowing he has powers just like you," he said.
She seemed to relax her guard again and the ice actually started slowly receding for the first time since she noticed them.
He smiled pointing at the ice. "See, things will be just fine," he said.
She nodded hesitantly.
"Ok we're going to come closer slowly. All you need to do is relax. All he needs to do to remove your power is to hold your hand for a little bit. All you have to think is about accepting him him remove your power," he said.
Her gaze become more firm. "Ok... I guess that's worth a try," she said.
Chris slowly approached her and crouched next to her. He looked back at Seth and gave him a nod indicating everything was fine. Seth hesitated, but then slowly approached the two of them.
He crouched beside them and carefully stretched his hand out towards her. He appeared to be quite worried about her after seeing her power. This was very different than their previous meeting. The last girl seemed quite harmless. This one not so much.
She looked at his hand for a while before giving a firm nod and grabbing ahold of it.
Chris grabbed Seth's other hand. "Ok, let's get started," he said.
As Seth's power took hold they all started glowing in different hues. Lily seemed to glow with a cold icy blue. Seth himself seemed to glow with a grey-ish hue. Chris was a vibrant purple instead.
The icy blue glow travelled from her to Seth through their connected hands before continuing on to Chris and settling there resulting into a chaotic swirl of purple and blue.
Lily opened her eyes nervously. "Is... is it done?" She asked.
Seth nodded.
She stared at her hand. "A-are you sure?" She asked.
Chris smirked. "From what I could tell your emotions were a trigger for your power. I could give you a nice snog to make sure," he said teasingly.
She looked him up and down. She blushed and actually seemed to be considering it. "N-no.. that's okay," she eventually said.
He simply chuckled in response causing her blush to deepen.
