Meteors and Stopwatches

Mitzi's hand slashed towards the sky and a wave of dark purple energy formed a relatively large arc. The arc seemed to want change shape but mostly was being forced into the shape.

The arc and rain quickly collided, but instead of an explosion of energy or something, all the orbs hit were warped to be angled towards Vin. So 77 of the orbs were now redirected at once, the remaining more than ten dozen were to hit the arena, or Mitzi if she failed to dodge, at full force.

Vin quickly reacted realizing spamming wouldn't work, he cast Hands of Triton buffed by Chaos Aura, Yin Breath, and Bones of Anarchy - Undead Hand. Most of the skills were familiar, Hand of Triton was a skill he stole from the rune-casting girl that made hands from water, Chaos Aura granted his aura a trace of chaos, and Yin Breath was a breath filled with deathly energies. The only new one was Undead Hand, another skill from the bones of anarchy skill tree. It just bones in the shape of a hand.

The large bone hand took shape first, in the span of a second, gray energy coalesced and formed the framework which was the size of two grown men. Then water then surrounded the bones forming a sorta flesh like layer to the hand. The traces of chaos formed veins in the hand you could see through the water, and the Yin Breath formed a layer of skin that covered up everything below. With all of these skills together it's like Vin summoned a dead-gray hand. He then casted another skill that honestly, probably could've been used alone and worked. "Omni-Shield!"

In the span of another second, many elements mixed together and formed a multi-colored outline around the hand, causing it to seem like it was dully glowing rainbow. This skill, which would normally be an average skill, had been elevated to such a high degree from a small trick many would be incapable of replicating.

The hand opened up with its palm facing the heavens and defended against the first bubble to reach it. A small, muffled, explosion-like noise came from the hand as smoke started emanating from the hand. In that small half a second prior to the explosion, blue and brown colors moved towards the bubble that hit the hand, inside the bubble was fire. The blue and brown colors represented both Earth and Water, countering the fire. The hand, and its barrier, remaining unscathed. The other 76 bubbles then also poured down, many more muffled noises played in the next few seconds that Vin's combination skill defended against the rain.

The control over many elements that others had to learn to individually sense was his trump card. Just about everything has a counter in the world, regardless of what it seems, and the things without a counter wouldn't be used against a 16 year old. Any element Vin knows how to use, he also knows the counterpart of, and with that, no element he is capable of using can be used against him unless its by pure brute strength overpowering his defense.

The bone hand that was defending now curled into a fist as floated next to Vin as if awaiting its masters call. Then, as a response to the fist patiently waiting, Vin uttered a single word, "Go."

The fist, with a speed much faster than Usain Bolt, shot forward towards Mitzi who had just finished dodging the half she could not redirect. Mitzi jumped up over the fist with a flip, tapping the fist as she rotated over it, and landed sideways with her feet on the back of the fist. Then with a snap she reversed time on the fist, using the fist speed as it went backwards to accelerate her own speed. Space seemed to compress around her fist that were now pointed at Vin who had less than 2 seconds to react now.

His first idea was to unsummon the fist, but he could not do so as it was covered in an element he had no comprehension in, time, so he could not pierce through it. This costed him a fraction of a second, which was a lot of time in this scenario and now he was slightly panicking.

However, now that he had already wasted some time, he refused to do it again. Massive amounts of Arcane Energy poured out his body, at least half of his total reserves, which was greater than just about anyone in the same realm as him. Vin face immediately went calm after this as the strength of his aura was multiplied by multiple times. Mitzi noticed this and started worrying, a man does not just become scarily calm in the middle of a battle. Even if the aura that had now began to take physical shape as a foggy white mist appearing around him was fake, the confidence was not.

Alas it was too late for her, so she had to commit to the attack.

Vin seemed to have resigned to his fate, but anyone capable of reacting fast enough would know this to not be true, he was waiting.

Just as the fist was to make contact, Vin vanished and distracting amount of power appeared in the 15 meters in sky. Causing even Amelia and Noah to look up, stopping their fight. Levitating above the arena he raised both of his hands to the sky and opened his mouth, "Mimicry; Sky Fall" The words came out apathetically and coldly. Vin truly hoped after this show of power Mitzi would surrender or be saved without it hurting her, even if this was the girl he loved, he would not simply give up first place to her.

Many rocks were summoned into the air at once, then were pulled all together into a single point, forming a big rock. Well more like a small meteor floating a few meters above the levitating Vin. This entire event took only 4 seconds. Quite amazing, any other person below the seventh tier would've failed to even summon a meteor. Better yet, most others below the seventh tier cannot think nor move as fast as Mitzi and Vin were earlier. Almost this entire school population of course, being an outlier. The meteor fell down quickly as 3 more formed seconds after it, leaving virtually no area uncovered.

Vin continued to look down upon everyone there, excluding the spectators who were much higher. Mitzi looked up with despair in her eyes, the eyes of someone who knows what they must do, but doesn't know if they have the heart to do so. In her case, it was to use all her Arcane Energy for a last extremely slim shot at winning. Of course using that much energy at once would be painful without fine control over it, however pain is better than losing. And so, she did it. A purple light shone off her body as the energy within her body circulated at an insane speed. Then, a rare event occurred. Her manifestations had manifested in the heat of battle.

All her Arcane Energy poured out in coalesced into a purple stopwatch and a purple icosahedron, which would be recognized as a numberless 20-sided dice. The stopwatch in her left hand and the icosahedron in the right.

The second before she clicked the stopwatch, Vin had a single, incomplete thought. 'This is gonna be more difficult than I first ima-."

[Author Notes]

[A] Number based notes are me explaining something from the chapter, letter based notes are not related to anything.

[B] I've been debating dropping this novel for the longest since it is poorly written imo. I've decided to not drop it even if I want to restart it so badly, but instead, lets see it to the end. If anything it'll just have extremely irregular updates because this work due to it being bad, is not my main focus. + I have a really detailed, thought out, planned, and a few chapters written of a system-less cultivation novel titled Vital Fate. Despite not being in the same universe as this, the two are more than a tad bit correlated. (I already planned the connection before I thoroughly planned Vital Fate.)

[C] New plan, I'm gonna rewrite this after I finish Vital Fate which will be sometime in 2024.
