Ruby closed her eyes and smiled broadly as the arbei cake melted in her mouth. The unique sweet taste enveloped her tongue and made Ruby felt like she was swimming in a sea of arbei.
Moreover, now, Ruby could finish a box of arbei cake by herself without having to wait for Liliana's cakes left over.
As Ruby sank into the taste of arbei cake, Matthew secretly watched Ruby's adorable behavior from his desk. The man couldn't even stop smiling every time he looked at Ruby.
It turns out that working while accompanied by his wife was not bad. Maybe Matthew would often invite Ruby to his office.
Half an hour later, Ruby managed to eat all the arbei cakes by herself until her stomach felt full.
Because she didn't want to disturb Matthew, who was already focused on reading the documents, Ruby secretly watched the study room in silence.
When she saw the bookshelf in front of her, Ruby became curious and wanted to look at the books on the bookshelf. However, she was afraid that Matthew wouldn't allow her to touch the books carelessly because there could be important royal documents in there.
"If you're bored, you can read the books on the shelves. However, there were only political books there; I am not sure you li—"
Before Matthew finished speaking, Ruby had already walked quickly to the bookshelf and took out two books on the political history of the Veritas Kingdom.
"Hmm … I think the subject of the book you took was too heavy. Maybe you could start with the light political books on the bottom shelf."
Ruby shook her head and hugged the books tightly.
Matthew, "You want to read the books?"
Ruby nodded in return.
Matthew chuckled because he thought Ruby's behavior was like a little girl who wanted to tell her parents she wanted to buy a doll.
"All right, you can read it. If there's something you don't understand, you can ask me anytime."
Ruby's smile widened. She immediately sat on the chair beside the bookshelf without wasting much time.
Ruby was excited to read the books because the political books in Matthew's study room were more comprehensive than those in the library.
If she wants to be a good queen to the people of Veritas, then she has to put much effort into studying the politics of Veritas to its roots.
After reading nearly half the book, Ruby was finally able to know some of the histories of Veritas that people outside of Veritas didn't know.
In the beginning, Veritas was a county that belonged to the Wridal Kingdom.
However, because the climate and geographical conditions of Veritas county were terrible, the temperature was extremely cold, and the roads were cobbled. In the past, the king of Wridal decided to make Veritas an exile area.
In the past, the Lycans were considered a dirty race that didn't deserve to coexist with the Werewolves. This was because Lycans were known to be more temperamental than werewolves and didn't hesitate to kill each other when they wanted to fight over territory.
In consequence, the Lycans were banished to the cold Veritas county. Years later, the Lycans attempted to revolt by creating their army.
One hundred years ago, the kingdom of Veritas, led by Lycan, and the Kingdom of Wridal, led by werewolves, never stopped the war. They killed, shed blood, and destroyed each other's territory.
When both sides suffered heavy losses and were helpless, they finally made an agreement to end the war. Veritas eventually shuts itself off from the outside world, while Wridal joins the Raeludin Empire, which was led by the human race.
Two years later, due to pressure from various sides, the Veritas Kingdom finally joined the Raeludin Empire.
While under Raeludin's empire, the two sides were finally forced to make peace. However, the Veritas kingdom preferred to shut down and enforce its own rules instead of listening to the emperor.
The Veritas Kingdom only opened up after Matthew took the king's throne. Also, thanks to Matthew, Veritas stopped applying the law of the wild jungle and became a safe kingdom for its inhabitants.
[His Majesty is indeed remarkable.] Ruby praised her husband.
Then, Ruby started to count those crucial years. [If he had reigned for ten years, how old would he be now?]
Ruby glanced at Matthew from behind her book. Matthew's appearance didn't look old; Ruby didn't even see any wrinkles on his skin.
At first glance, everyone would have thought Matthew's age to be in his mid-twenties. However, Ruby felt it was impossible. If Matthew was only twenty-five years old this year, he should be king at fifteen.
Ruby had never seen Matthew's appearance as long as Matthew reigned the Veritas Kingdom. However, she had never heard of the rumors that the king was still a little boy when he ascended the throne for the first time.
Then there was only one conclusion Ruby could think of.
Matthew didn't age.
She wondered if it was because of the lycan genetics, which makes the Lycans stay young, or if Matthew can't get old.
No one can prove either allegation. Because until today, Matthew's age has never been announced to the public. Even his age was not written in the history books.
"Milady!" Matthew's exclamation made Ruby flinch. It seemed she had been daydreaming too long that she didn't hear Matthew's call.
"It's about time we meet the royal knights. Are you feeling sleepy? I saw you've been silent ever since."
Ruby immediately looked at the clock and was shocked when she realized it was three o'clock in the afternoon.
It turned out that Ruby had been reading a book for two hours.
Ruby immediately got up from her chair and walked towards Matthew. She wrote, "I'm not sleepy but just daydreaming because thinking about the book I'm reading."
Matthew, "Is there anything you can't understand?"
Ruby shook her head. "I just loved thinking about the book I just read."
"Well, it seems like a good habit." He smiled. "You can come here often if you want to read another book."
"Really?"
"Mhm, you can come here whenever you want."
A bright yellow color immediately covered Matthew's body after he said that. Ruby didn't understand why Matthew suddenly felt happy when he asked her to visit his study room often.
However, Ruby didn't think about it too much as long as she was allowed to come and read the books in the study room.
"We should hurry to the soldiers' training ground. They are probably already waiting for our arrival."
Ruby wrote, "The royal knights are still training with other soldiers?"
Matthew, "Of course. All soldiers in the palace still have to undergo training every day even after being appointed as the Royal Knights."
Ruby thought for a while before writing again, "Can I meet Dena first? I want to ask her to go to the kitchen."
Matthew looked at Ruby in confusion. "Are you hungry again?"
Ruby shook her head quickly and wrote, "Not for me but for the royal knights who finished practicing."

"Sir Diaz! Haven't you looked after Lady Ruby before? How did she look?" Lorenzo Adkins, one of the royal knights, threw a wooden sword at Diaz as they prepared to welcome Matthew and Ruby.
Diaz smiled when he thought of Ruby. "Lady Ruby looked very beautiful; her behavior was also good."
Holden grunted behind Diaz. "Your way of describing things is terrible."
Holden looked at Lorenzo. "If you saw Lady Ruby in person, you would be amazed by her appearance. Her aura is bright and makes the atmosphere around her more positive; the maids were even very happy when asked to help Lady Ruby."
"Besides being pretty, she's also quite adorable. Even if the Lady stands still, her pretty face can make—"
Bang!
Xylon Scheiner—one of The Royal Knights—threw a wooden stick at Holden's head. "Now, the way you describe her was like you fell in love with Lady Ruby. If His Majesty hears about it, you may be hanged tomorrow."
Holden got goosebumps, then moved his hand as if he was stitching his mouth.
He won't talk anymore if he still wants to see the sun tomorrow morning.
The Royal Knights consist of seven selected knights. All of them were the pride and Lycans who were considered the most powerful in the Veritas Kingdom, thus occupying a position higher than the palace soldier.
Because of their high position, they were often relied on to do various dangerous jobs, so they rarely lived in the palace.
When Matthew married Ruby, only Holden and Diaz were present. The rest were on an important mission from the king.
If Matthew didn't order them to back today, maybe they wouldn't be able to gather together at the palace.
"What's so good about Lady Ruby?" another royal knight—Kendrick Pearce—spoke from the second floor. His expression looked annoyed when he heard his colleagues talk about Ruby. "I haven't even heard of her prowess at all."
"I heard that the alpha from Wridal rejected her. They said it was because she was mute and had no magic abilities."
Kendrick sighed. "Could a woman like that can be a good queen for us?"
"Hey, watch your words!" Diaz shouted, "Lady Ruby hasn't even been ruling as the Queen, so how could you insult her from the start?!"
"You are too noisy! You must only defend her because she's pretty, right?" Kendrick also shouted, "Veritas also has a lot of beautiful women, so what's so special about La—"
"Your Highness is coming!" Lorenzo's scream silenced everyone.
They all flocked to a line in the middle of the first floor; even Kendrick also stopped talking when he heard that Matthew would be coming to the training ground soon.
The soldiers had already left the training ground, so only royal knights existed.
"Be careful; there are many dangerous weapons inside the training grounds, don't get yourself hurt." Matthew's soft voice managed to make the royal knights confused.
In all the time they had worked for Matthew, they had never heard Matthew speak so gently to them.
Usually, if he didn't speak in a cold tone, the man would raise his voice when angry.
"Is that His Majesty's voice?" Lorenzo asked.
Neville Harrison, standing closest to the door, shook his head quickly. "Negative. I'm not sure if it's His Majesty's voice."
Edgar Rhodes, a person who usually didn't like to speak, finally spoke up. "That's His Majesty's voice. I can confirm it."
Soon after, the training ground door opened, revealing Matthew's figure, who hugged Ruby's waist. Ruby repeatedly tried to let go of Matthew's hand, but the man still insisted on not letting go of Ruby.
"I told you, there are a lot of dangerous weapons here. How can I protect you if you stand too far from me?"
Ruby pouted her mouth and looked irritated because Matthew treated her like a vase that would break easily.
However, her expression immediately changed when she saw the seven royal knights who were staring at the two of them.
Ruby immediately smiled widely and waved her hands at them.
When the sunlight from the window shone on Ruby's face and golden hair, all the the royal knights fell silent; they even forgot how to breathe for a few seconds.
That face … how could they possibly compare her to the beauty of the women at Veritas?
Ruby's beauty is on par with the Moon Goddess!
Inside their heart, they screamed, [How could the alpha in the Wridal Kingdom rejected a woman like Ruby?!]
