I Became My Novel Character After the Apocalypse

Vale Gilstar had just finished his first novel, The Sword Demon's Reincarnation, when the disaster struck. A massive earthquake shook his home, and a mysterious voice announced the advent of the apocalypse. [Initiating awakening...] [Finding passion. Prioritizing...] On the verge of his consciousness, he heard of the awakening of the system. With Earth transformed into a chaotic battleground where monsters roamed, Vale discovered he had become the protagonist of his own finished story. "I-I can't believe it... I... have become the protagonist of my book." Now, he had to write his own story in the new world and put it into action. *** I am back with a new story. I finally managed to deal with everything I have IRL. Those who like my old novel 'The Author is an Extra, the MC is a Reincarnator' will surely like this too. I hope.

Chapter 23 – Massacre [1]

He clenched his fist tightly. But there was nothing he could do about it. If he refused, he could imagine that man would create a bloodbath in this city. Not only him, but his gang members and others would die uselessly.

The door was opened once again after Vale had left the room, and Thomas Adler looked at the blonde-haired woman in bunny outfit standing there.

"So?" The woman raised her eyebrows, "You're an errand boy now, brother?"

"Ah, Erika. Did you see it?" He chuckled painfully as he shook his head lightly, "That man is a monster."

"Hmph. I know that. Do you think I brought him to you without thinking?" She replied as she sat across from him and took out a cigarette from her pocket,

"You know my passion is to find out secrets. And that guy... I can't use my skills on him. He's just... out of this world. And I don't want to get hurt, so I bring him to you. Still, you got fucked up too easily."

"Yeah, we fucked up big time." He emphasized 'we' while glaring at him.

"If I knew such a monster existed in the US, I would lay low and control everything in the shadows instead of showing off." Thomas muttered as he looked at the ceiling, "Well, I'll be an errand boy for now. It's better than being dead."

"Agree." Erika Adler nodded, "And well, don't get too cocky, Thomas. Even if you're my little brother, I will bail if you put me in danger. But for now, you made the correct decision. This big sister is happy."

She stood up and left the room, leaving Thomas alone with his thoughts.

'How the fuck did my gang end up with monsters like that?' He wondered as he looked at the door in front of him, 'However, looking at the bright side, that means that monster became my new boss. Can I at least expect protection from him?'

That was the reason why he accepted the deal without trying to attack Vale. Thomas wasn't a stupid man. He knew when to play and when to act. Right now, being a 'boss' was not in his interest. Money was what he sought.

"For now, I just need to work hard for him and get some benefit. And I have to finish the first job he gave me. He said he wanted to test his blade? Madman."

He muttered, taking his phone out of his pocket and contacted someone. "Ah, it's me. Can you give me information about all the gangs in Vegas and New York? Yeah, right now. Also, call some doctor for me. I am dying."

***

Vale didn't return to New York immediately after having some chat with Thomas Adler, the boss of 'Adler Gang' in Las Vegas. Instead, he decided to stay here and monitor his new 'employee' while hunting for something.

Besides, the gang had given him useful information about other gangs in Vegas and New York, especially those that were not willing to work under them. Cleaning up the area around here would be a good experience for Vale before he returned.

"Is it there?"

Standing on a roof of a building, Vale looked at a building below him with his eyes narrowed slightly. The place was surrounded by walls and heavily guarded. There were at least 20 people inside, including the boss and his people.

From the information he got from Thomas, half of the people in this gang were Survivors and had a Passion System. And they were led by a level 11 Survivor named Troy. Most of the members were only level 5 or 6 by now.

"Their levels aren't as high as I thought." He muttered softly as he turned his gaze away from the building and looked at the dark sky above him. "This should be fine."

Night had arrived. Full moon was shining down on him from above.

He closed his eyes slowly as he took a deep breath. His Qi surged through and covered his body. For the last few days, he wanted to try his Mirage skill. This skill allowed him to create illusions and deceive enemies. And he had never used before.

Opening his eyes, Vale jumped from the roof and landed in front of the gate of the gang hideout. From the other people's perspective, he must've looked like a hazy mist with a humanoid form. Mirage wasn't only useful for battle to confuse his opponent. It was also useful to conceal his identity.

And he didn't want people to know that Vale Gilstar had come to Vegas to wipe out all gangs here. That would only make the government and other gangs afraid of him, not willing to cooperate and become his ally.

That was why he needed a scapegoat. And monsters were the perfect scapegoat that humanity couldn't really understand yet.

People who stood guard around the building, a warehouse, immediately pointed their gun at him. But they hesitated for a brief second as they saw him fading in and out like a ghost.

"Monsters!" One of them shouted and aimed his gun at Vale, "Shoot!"

Barrage of bullets flew toward him. He slowly unsheathed his sword, covered in Qi.

"One-edged Sword Style, Thousand Blossom Fall."

His hand turned into a blur as he swung his sword fast and swift, blocking and deflecting all bullets toward him without stopping. Some of the deflected bullets hit the guards, killing them on the spot. The rest of them stared at him in disbelief and horror.

Vale didn't bother to watch them as he rushed forward and slashed at one of the guards, beheading him in an instant. He felt... nothing. He knew that his thought was slightly influenced by what 'Vale Gilstar' could do, but this was a bit shocking to him.

His first murder and he felt nothing. Only emptiness.

As if he had turned into the Crazy Sword Demon himself.

'I have to be careful or I will turn into a crazy murderer at this rate.' Vale thought as he furrowed his eyebrows and looked at the people who arrived after hearing the gunshots.

Their presences were slightly bigger than the guards.

'Survivors.'

A total of 6 people appeared. One held a rifle, while the other 5 had either bats or knives. They looked surprised at his appearance, but they didn't hesitate to attack him.

"Skill: Quick Body!"

"Skill: Quick Shot!"

"Skill: Power Bats!"

Everyone activated their skills at the same time. However, Vale didn't flinch at their attacks. He didn't even use his Qi.

"One-edged Sword Style, Swift Blossom."

With a short slash, 3 out of 5 people fell to the ground with blood dripping from their necks. While he was determined to exterminate the gangs, he wasn't someone who would torture them unless he knew them did something really unforgivable.

A part of his kindness told him to kill them swiftly so they didn't feel any pain.

"Ground Shrink."

Vale disappeared from the spot as the rifleman shot his bullets at him. The guy looked around in confusion as he reloaded his rifle with a new bullet. But no one was around him anymore.

Suddenly, he felt his back burning in pain as he heard a voice whispering to him.

"Swish swish."

It was his attempt to imitate a monster. A bad one, but it was enough to fool the security camera. He killed the last guy with a quick stab on the head.
