Like a bear, hibernate

Lisa Johnson was speechless as she watched her partner drink his milk tea quietly by her side, his long lashes casting shadows as he bent his head to sip at his cup but Lisa was not in the mood to appreciate his beauty. Her lips thinned as she gritted her teeth in helpless anger.

"What is it?" Ravi asked, having enough of her stare. The way she stared at him, almost as if she could not wait to find a sword and began hacking him to pieces.

It hurt though, not her stare, hacking someone to pieces, the pain was unbearable, almost at the same level as a death by a thousand cuts, of course, none hurts as much as the betrayal and the emotional pain but that was not the point. He pushed his thoughts down to listen to her.

"How much is that milk tea?"

"70 cents."

"And you bought just one for yourself, did you ever think of your partner waiting in the car for you? I have gone patrolling with the Sergeant, even Officer Brown, none of them would have done what you just did."

She was really upset, Ravi noted and he extended his hand.

Lisa looked down at his hand, slender fingers and fair skin, the hand looked like it had never seen a day of work. Some moments, it would slip her mind but this her partner was truly beautiful, his features were like a work of art and even the scruffy beard did nothing to hide it.

"Give me. The 70 cents so that I can buy it for you."

The spell broke immediately, what beauty was she talking about just now, she must have been crazy. She put the key in the ignition, and pressed her leg on the accelerator, zooming off. The acceleration was so sudden that Ravi was caught off guard, he lurched forward, his head narrowly avoiding contact with the windows.

"Are you planning to kill me?"

She gritted her teeth, "You would just heal up so what is the point?"

The power that Ravi had registered was Self-healing. He did not lie, his atoms regenerated in nanoseconds the moment he was injured.

"You can hack me to pieces, so fast that I would not have the time to heal up."

Lisa broke and looked at him, horror in her eyes, "How can you say that?"

"I am joking."

She started the car again, "Your jokes are not funny, Ravi. Not funny at all."

Ravi leaned back and closed his eyes. It was one sure way to kill him. In the Chen dynasty, that was the way that the Emperor had ordered him to be executed after he killed the Evil Emperor of the Ming Dynasty who had terrorized the middle belt. He had ordered his men to kill him, An evil spirit, he called him.

Perhaps he was, he was carrying the still bleeding head of the Evil Emperor of the Ming Dynasty after all. He had completed his mission after all but the feeling of the swords against his body had really hurt.

Lisa was quiet for a few minutes, stewing in anger but her anger did not last long. It never really did, "What do you think about the new Captain? He seems super friendly and fun."

"He is way over his head." Ravi commented and Lisa frowned.

"He is still new, we were talking and he told me that he was just made Captain, this would be the first team that he is leading, I think he would do a good job, he just needs a little time."

She was defending him and they had met less than four hours ago. Despite Lisa's brightness and smiles, she was not a fool. She had grown up in one of the slum-like areas of Davenport so she was sharp in her own right, she did not get attached too easily.

Has she noticed how quickly to his defense?

Ravi did not say anything, he just closed his eyes tiredly. The mana on Earth was so thin, to him who had been in a Mana-rich environment for 500 years, it was still difficult for him to adapt completely. His body, for instance, got tired very quickly and wanted to go to hibernation. He needed a little more mana than others in order to function properly.

Lisa sighed, looking at Ravi who was sleeping. The long lashes cast a shadow on his face and his chest rose and fell softly. The radio was silent and she just drove around the Central Area.

After two hours, she parked somewhere and began to make some social media videos.

Ravi blinked and opened his eyes.

"So Top five thriller recommendations from a police officer to watch, my number five is Disappeared Woman by Mirat Flyon, this book had me by the throat, and just the plot twist is just chef kisses. It follows Cara and Joseph, a perfect couple who have the mayor's wife locked in their basement. It is told from dual pov and the two of them are telling two different stories. It is haunting and scary and interesting, you can not just put it down.

"It sounded interesting but Ravi was not much of a reader, he preferred watching movies. That reminds him, he needed to pick up his laptop from the repair shop.

He dialed the man's number, "This is Ravi, Mark, is it ready?"

"It has been ready since yesterday. I was calling your number but your line was switched off."

'I will pick it up today. I will pay cash, write down the 3-month warranty agreement for me to sign when I get there." He said, the man had boasted after all that once he repaired the laptop, that he would give him a 3-month warranty and that the laptop would last, even if his house erupted because of a nest.

There was silence from the other side of the phone and Mark coughed.

"You did not lie to a police officer, did you?"

"Of course not, I will write it down. You can come and get it anytime." His voice was reluctant to the max but Ravi did not care. He had learned his lesson, he repaired the laptop at the store opposite of Mark and it had spoiled two weeks later. When he took it back to the Glynt, the other man had said that he would pay another fee, there was no Warranty.

He rubbed his forehead. 3:46 pm. There was just 14 minutes before it would be time to clock out.

14 minutes later, he yawned and continued to listen to Lisa make her video outside the car.
